I may be giving up my age, but I have been watching the UFC since the beginning, and Valentina is in my top 5 favorite fighters of all time, and one of the coolest girls in the world.
As elegant, & sweet as she is as a person when she's just being herself in an interview, it is quite shockimg to watch her clobber everybody she fights, in the most brutal manner possible. Then she flips a switch, & becomes a classy, thoughtful professional genuinely concerned for th safety of the fighter she just destroyed. Valentina is a once in a generation talent!

Watching her fight is truly a unique experience. I'm Peruvian and that's her adoptive country. Everybody loved her over there from day 1. The first time I saw her perform I was caught off guard. And this was about 12-13 years ago. A good couple of May Thai World Championships but still relatively unknown to the general public. Her artistry and her subtle violence is a true thing of beauty. Plus, everything she does from the firsts till the last second, there's something mystic to it. Performance aside, you can tell right away she's doing something that's truly special for her. Absolute Legend.

In Joe’s defense, at the time rousey was fighting it really seemed like no one could do what she did. All her fights lasted seconds and didn’t make it to round 2 and honestly look at the records of the people she was fighting. Zingano was undefeated and finished in seconds by her. Also note that zingano defeated Nunes by tko before that fight. She faught miesha twice and finished her twice. Sara Kaufman who was also a champ she beat by armbar in seconds.

You cant compare valentina to ronda, valentina was a 8x world champ kickboxer with a record of 57-2, a pro boxing record of 2-0 and was 11-1 in mma when she got to the ufc, she already had 73 pro fights. Shes now defended her belt 6x and is 11-2 in the ufc. Her rematch with nunes i had valentina winning 3rds to 2 but it was a very close split decision. Ronda was a novice in the ufc and her legacy was short lived.

And she had horrific arthritis in her knees so wrestling (double leg takedowns) were not going to be possible. She would have improved her fight iq and striking alot more. Or coulda have gone to train with the diaz bros in nor cal or aka, etc. But my point was valentina was way more hardened and experienced than ronda when she got to the ufc.

Watching her fight is truly a unique experience.
I'm Peruvian and that's her adoptive country. Everybody loved her over there from day 1. The first time I saw her perform I was caught off guard. And this was about 12-13 years ago. A good couple of May Thai World Championships but still relatively unknown to the general public.
Her artistry and her subtle violence is a true thing of beauty. Plus, everything she does from the firsts till the last second, there's something mystic to it. Performance aside, you can tell right away she's doing something that's truly special for her.

I don't understand why they wouldn't. Every athlete should try to excel to be the best. Especially if you're a fighter. If a fighter is okay with getting there ass beat over and over again, and doesn't try to see where they can improve? That just sounds crazy lol
they say that so the fighter can relax and be less anxious, i disagree with it though. Best fighters are people like GSP who are shitting themselves leading up to the fight but they embrace that state of constant worry, it forces them to want to win instead of relaxing and just going in there to perform.

In Joe’s defense, at the time rousey was fighting it really seemed like no one could do what she did. All her fights lasted seconds and didn’t make it to round 2 and honestly look at the records of the people she was fighting. Zingano was undefeated and finished in seconds by her. Also note that zingano defeated Nunes by tko before that fight. She faught miesha twice and finished her twice. Sara Kaufman who was also a champ she beat by armbar in seconds.

Of all the women's MMA champions of all time (so far) she seems like the most 'complete' human being - by far. Skilled, tough, smart, beautiful, extensive world travels and has lived in the 3rd world for long periods, speaks multiple languages, tactical firearms training/enthusiast, dancer, film/arts school, actress, outdoorsy, etc.
You can tell she genuinely has her shit together, like she could probably be a millionaire running just about any business, if she wanted.

You cant compare valentina to ronda, valentina was a 8x world champ kickboxer with a record of 57-2, a pro boxing record of 2-0 and was 11-1 in mma when she got to the ufc, she already had 73 pro fights. Shes now defended her belt 6x and is 11-2 in the ufc. Her rematch with nunes i had valentina winning 3rds to 2 but it was a very close split decision. Ronda was a novice in the ufc and her legacy was short lived.
Record everything any human says for a decade then pick out one thing, remove context, and use that as your sole point of reference.

And she had horrific arthritis in her knees so wrestling (double leg takedowns) were not going to be possible. Imagine what she would have been if she left edmond and went to alliance mma where travis brown used to train with dominick cruz when travis was ranked #3. She would have improved her fight iq and striking alot more. Or coulda have gone to train with the diaz bros in nor cal or aka, etc. But my point was valentina was way more hardened and experienced than ronda when she got to the ufc.
