Thanks for sharing mate. I’ve been here about 18 years now and I have to agree with all of those. There was a time where the grass was looking pretty greener back home mostly for the lifestyle but after recent trips back there’s a lot of things that I am really realising that we are lucky to have here in Japan.
Greetings from Laos. I wish I can live in Japan. My sister has been living in the USA since 1982. She comes back to Vientiane for the holidays like Christmas and New Years.
@@larrikinjapan We lived in Tokyo for 2 years with the kids (2001/2). Corporate expat job, Japan office for a UK international. (Not an English teacher). We been back several times. Hard life as a corporate office worker long hours etc but a great experience.
Crickey mate, is that big vinyl house yours ? I'd love one like that on my farm. Is that momigara on the onions? Thank you for sharing your story, how things must have changed since you first arrived. Really interesting, thank you.
Nice story. When you mentioned working in Anjo that bought back great memories of my time working in Anjo 13 years ago at the local council for a few months. Beautiful people, full on work but loved every minute. Going out with boss after work drinking beer 🍺 and o sake for a couple of hours, still in contact with a few ( could up with some )Just come back from Japan 🇯🇵. Your living my dream . Good on you for taking the path you took. I tell my eldest son “ you need to find a nice Japanese woman “.thanks again.
My story is also a bit funny. I married the first girl I met in Kobe. Actually, I had a few relationships before we got together years after we first met, but it makes for a funny story. I was born in NZ but grew up in Australia, I moved to Japan in 1992, planned to work and move back to Oz in 2000. When i left, a friend bought a house in Bondi (Sydney) for 280k, when i was thinking of going back, his place was valued at 720k (wtf?) so we moved to Canada for a few years and we saw the same thing happen there! Also, considering my wife's parents, we moved back to Japan in 2007 and settled in Matsumoto, haven't looked back since.
goodonya mate, this was a very very enjoyable video. i prefer longer form relaxing videos which due to the length can give you a sense of being more immersed. THANKYOU
Gidday! I was an exchange student in Sapporo in 1982. My dream was to go back to my host high school to teach English when my deputy principal became head principal - however he didn’t get the job and by then I was working in the Japanese inbound tourist industry in Sydney. These days I live on the Gold Coast (renting). So it’s kind of you in reverse 😂 I just deal with life’s curve balls when they come. Sapporo and Hokkaido are still very close to my heart and I still speak conversational Japanese when I can! Sometimes even in Hokkaido Ben! Lovely to meet u! Den 🙇🏻♀️
I WONDER IF WE MIGHT KNOW SOME OF THE SAME PPL. DO YOU KNOW (NOW DEFUCNCT) a tour guiding company focusing on japanese clientele called "Waku Waku Dobutsu Tanken Tour" ? THEY HAD 2 BRANCHES 1ST 1 IN CAIRNS, 2ND 1 ON THE GOLDY.
She’s a fair bit better. She seeing 2 specialist now and has some different medication. But she is having some side affects from them. Just keep battling on.
My marriage visa was simple as … down to Wakayama shiyakusho … 10 mins max then down to immigration got called a lazy bum ( cause all my lessons were cash in hand) and done … easy as.
Do you know anything about senior handicapped housing for a returnee in urban Japan ? I am in my 70's , don't walk so well , my j-spouse is more spry than me. I am conversant in japanese. Spent a lotta time there as a young pup.

what a beautiful place you live, I miss Japan so much.
It really is!
It's a very quiet place for retirement. Japan has high quality medical care.

The prices of houses in Australia is off the charts. Much better value here.

Interesting to hear your story, and the comments. They all seem to have a similar back story 😂
Just passed my 25th year here! Only came for a year!
It goes quick doesn’t it
Yes, it does. Scarily quick!
