I preferred your voice the majority of the time on mic A. As a suggestion - although this would disrupt the flow of the song - you might sing one line with mic A and repeat the same line again with mic B for the duration of the song. Short comparative passages. This way people aren’t being tricked into liking something based off of differences in performance from section to section.
Perfect voice & perfect song choice for these tests . Both sound just gorgeous ! Which is which ? Mic A’s mid range reminds me of the Stam 47 in that area
Amazing work, Joshua and team! Both microphones are very usable. This is going to sound strange but I wonder what would happen if some cigarette or cigar smoke was allowed to "cook" around your reissue? How would that affect the mic capsule? Could smoke be what gives those old vintage mics their character?
Hey Joshua, any chance we can get raw vocal files without any processing to compare? I'd love to get the 3 tracks, backing track and 2 vocal takes from each mic. 2 reasons: 1. I hear artifacts from your plugins in my speakers and I believe you are not giving us a fair chance to assess for our selves. I can hear more tuning in mic B. 2. Want to compare how they take plugins and how they sound processed based on my own plugins. Love your work. Ty in advance.
Don't ever trust UA-cam. It's all marketing propaganda because that's where the money comes from. In this case, its sole purpose is in tricking you to believe a mic designed to be cheap is the same as a mic designed to be great. Josh Van Der Stam: • Had to choose his components/materials based on minimizing cost above all else • Knows his target market is consists primarily of amateurs who trust marketing (UA-cam) over their own experience/ears. • Has to work the cost of all of his recent research & development into his prices. Since keeping prices low is the main concern, he can only do that by further lowering the cost of production (sacrificing quality). Neumann: • Doesn't have to spend much at all on R&D. Their products paid for those costs decades ago and most of their "new" products were developed by companies they bought (K&H, MT). They just rebadged existing products, like the Klein & Hummel speakers and Anubis Pro interface... No R&D needed • They know that their market is mostly made up of trained professionals who are only swayed by their own experiences, and maybe the advice of a trusted colleague. • Their customers demand quality, so "quality at any cost" is their objective (with the exception of TLM series mics)
Mic A has more upper midrange presence and a much higher noise floor. Mic B has a much lower noise floor but doesn't sound quite as open on top and up front in the upper midrange. 99% sure Mic A is vintage u67 just because of the noise floor and Mic B is the Stam. What would it take to make the Stam sound more like the original without the noise?
Un video del Stam SA-800 en su nueva versión por favor 🙌 aun no me decido si comprar el Stam SA-800 o un micrófono de emulacion que me de ese sonido del Sony 800g , se agradecería un video
Mic B smooths out the 'rattle' mic A seems to bring out in the singer's voice when he's pushing it hard. Both so close. Stam does it again. Next test add a Wunder 67 S to the contest. Many swear it's the best of all ?
both are great sounding mics. The first one is warmer, rounded and sits well in the soundstage, the second has a more modern sound (which a lot of people will prefer) but is very different, thinner and crispier but with nice definition. You have to give the second mic (the Stam) some decades of usage to gbecome more rounded. Nice job.
@GuareschiGuillermo have a listen to the video above again and get your ears to focus ONLY on mic noise level. My ears are very good and I have studied @joshuastam7704's audio preferences I could work at STAM.......and with that said EVERYONE A is vintage Neumann 67 and B is the Stam Audio SA-67MK2. @joshuastam7704 does not copy noise levels :) Am I on the money @joshuastam7704 ??
@@AidanSeanMorexactly. Its definitely distinguishable on this video. Almost like night and day. We are talking brittle vs smooth. Also listen for the tube noise on the vintage u67 vs mic b has no noise. That may be a big determining factor. Maybe not try to get rid of the noise and really keep it identical. Maybe it will smoothen out the top end
@joshuastam7704 sooooo, are you going to ever say which one is which?
Sounds identical to me. Great job!
Mic B: neumann. Has better control with the loudness and have more deep mids. I think :)
Nope. B is the stam
@@AidanSeanMor amazing. To me the Stam sounds better than the Neumann as well. I'm impressed.
Agree that B is better. The Neumann (or A) is a tad harsh where B feels full but present.

That's the best idea yet !

Mic a is the winner to my ears
But if the stam is the b then i will be happy too
Genial interpretación. Bravo
I definitely have thoughts on the mics, but I MOSTLY just think I want to hear you sing the entire Sting solo catalog now! 🤷♂😄 Great work!
Smooth sound!! Took the 67 on another level now.. When will we get a 251 mic that looks aesthetically and sounds wise like the 251Elam💯
Thank you! We spent 3-4 years trying to nail our favorite 67 (we have nine of them at hand). Elam one day!
Damn good job. So glad I've got the MK2 on order 😜
Well done Stam! The quality is great !
Amazing work, Joshua and team! Both microphones are very usable.

Hemp smoke
indistinguishable to my ears
I've actually used this mic, along with the Stam LA-3. Both are excellent.

I 100% agree A is vintage Neumann 67 and B is the Stam Audio SA-67MK2
EQ
Both sound pretty even….. well done ….
Thank you!!
so which mic is which? mic a sounds better to me
A: Vintage B: Stam
Mic a is the winner for me ! So which one is which lol ???‼️‼️

Si esta, en el canal
I looked a more. Very good video
Mic A is slightly brighter and noisier. Mic B is smoother and quieter.
I thought A was smoother and B was less smooth. I would be surprised if B is the vintage
So which is which?
Mic "a" sounds a lil more pronounced in the lower mids, around 250-500hz
both sound great and I'm sure the variance would be similar if you measured any two 67's together like this, well done!
Mic B smooths out the 'rattle' mic A seems to bring out in the singer's voice when he's pushing it hard. Both so close. Stam does it again. Next test add a Wunder 67 S to the contest. Many swear it's the best of all ?
Also the Peluso P-67 gathers nothing but raves. Any of these mics l would use in a heartbeat and not care if one is slightly better than the other.

I think stam is the A. I own the sa-87 and it has similiar character

Neumann U67 is MIC B
Stam SA67 is MIC A
The other way around.

Signal chain? Is this a U67 reissue?
Vintage 67
@@joshuastam7704 which is the Stam ?
A sounds more musical
Both sound good although very different, being the first one more sparkly and the second more upfront but dull.
I wish I could hear these differences, my ears are getting old apparently.
Dull? l would say smooth.
A is the neumann
I have just one suggestion flip both of them down because they are in different position.
A; Neumann
B: Stam
