Stam Audio SA47 vs Neumann U47 shootout
Sounds so good ! I ordered your cl1b 500 series and am going to review it against an OG cl1b ! love your stuff
In this comparison, the only thing that will know the difference is your wallet
Wow that mic B is very straight. Unbelievable. What a difference.
The Sony mic is what it's is for a reason nothing competing with it in its category this girl sings beautifully and the Sony mic shines beautiful together that's the difference...
cheers!!
Wow C for me
Wow this one sounds like a 47 to me!- amazing!
where is the resolution ? i prefered the first one more because it wasnt as harsh as the second one in the high frequencys
A is the neumann
Would love to hear that without the autotune artifacts
What’s the chain preamp , compressor , AD ??? Sound amazing???
B sounds amazing! B’s SA-87i, correct? Can I get SA-87i in Japan?
I'm not even going to try guess but I do like the way B sounds for sure. It almost sounded like it sounded more rehearsed. Both good tho
I prefer B
really want the SA-87T 🫠 soon
B
A IS THE REAL DEAL
B all the way! Which one is which?
To bad this company is a joke after you purchase their products.
Hi, is it possible to order just the heatsink for Stam Audio? :)
Mic A = SA800G Mic B = Sony C800G Sony is just a solid microphone. Mic B all day. Listening through my Yamaha HS8 monitor speakers & Focusrite Clarett 2Pre usb interface.
Stam makes great mics, but in this case I'm not convinced. The U47 sounds like a U47, the Stam sounds like a U47 clone, although it could actually be a clone of many other mics because it has a fairly impersonal and neutral sound. I feel that in this case the creaminess, the sandy highs and the valve compression are not achieved in the same way as the Neumann does, qualities that make the U47 special, which makes it, in my opinion, not a good replacement for a U47.
I'm not sure which is which. I wish "a" was the Stam, that would be great news, but I don't think so. "A" sounds smoother, warmer, more controlled, with an almost perfect sound for mixing. "B" sounds more like current microphones sound, harsh, with the sibilance a bit exaggerated and without the body and creaminess of "a". If it's about adding a lot of treble to the vocal take, to give it a modern sound in the style of a 251, with "a", I have the feeling that it would accept it well and give creamy highs while "B" would start to sound harsh and difficult to mix, like most current microphones. Over the years, capsules acquire properties that are impossible to replicate.
A 2:36 B 3:27
A wins hands down
which one is A? Sony right ?
A sounds more Ai-esque. B sounds sat on or compressed in the mid-range.
Josh, you did a great job on this clone but I can't help but notice some big differences. B (The Sony) is waaay "smoother" - it has this natural compression-like sound and isn't harsh in any way. Where the Stam has a bit more of a "brittle" sound especially on the top end that can sound a little harsh. I think with a little more time with development and more research you could get this nearly identical, but budget constraints etc I'm sure hinder that. Price wise this is very fair and in the "ballpark" of that Sony sound but there is still a very clear difference between the two.
I've actually used this mic, along with the Stam LA-3. Both are excellent.
I'm convinced. Nobody would notice in the context of a mix.
I definitely have thoughts on the mics, but I MOSTLY just think I want to hear you sing the entire Sting solo catalog now! 🤷♂😄 Great work!
I looked a more. Very good video
B is smoother and can capture the high-freq details of the breathy sounds.
Agreed! way smoother. It's too bad because the Stam has potential, but they seemed to skip over some important details in really capturing what makes the Sony so incredible.
@@MusicGearAudio Stam is A?
where is the result?
Which one is better golden age ga8000 or steam audio sa800g?
Which one is better golden age ga8000 or steam audio sa800g?
I heard that the Golden Age is a little dark sounding in comparison to the Sony.
I have a pref for the A. But with instruments added I'm not as sure anymore. Maybe B then. But..
Mic B !! 👍🏻
Main thing is the transients on the Sony are more smoothe
@joshuastam7704 sooooo, are you going to ever say which one is which?
B can capture her soul when she sings,A sound great but can’t capture the character 👍🏻
Stam did a nice job! What interface and preamp did you use? Thanx!
stam is better then sony
B sounds expensive to my ears. If that is the Stam, I have to say wow.
yeah the SA-800 sounds better
The mics are nice, but she is fantastic ❤
Would love to hear you do a Sting cover! Definitely hear similar tonal qualities.
I prefer mic A for this song with the softer almost u47 style top end but I have a feeling B is the Sony with that harder top.
@Stam Audio ...The quality of Singing here is excellent However you need to Show the 'Exact' Same part of the Song back to back on both mic's! this is crucial. with hopefully no more 30-45Sec on each mic before Switching to the other mic do this switching 3 or four times for each singer ..then the other recommendation is to do this but not on just one voice add a Baritone, Tenor, Alto & soprano, Male singers. then follow that with as many female singers in the same vein. this is what will actually give a Listening singers in the market for a New or even 1st Mic the strong confidence to say - this sounds like a mic that will or will not be the best option for my voice - & that is the main thing that will have them Pull the trigger on one of these pricier clones vs just sticking to lower budget clones which are even more accessible at low prices in the 2nd hand market too . Do what I've motioned for all of your mic range eventually & it will be the most effective thing you do this year to increase your sales figures Stam.
Hey Joshua, any chance we can get raw vocal files without any processing to compare? I'd love to get the 3 tracks, backing track and 2 vocal takes from each mic. 2 reasons: 1. I hear artifacts from your plugins in my speakers and I believe you are not giving us a fair chance to assess for our selves. I can hear more tuning in mic B. 2. Want to compare how they take plugins and how they sound processed based on my own plugins. Love your work. Ty in advance.
Don't ever trust UA-cam. It's all marketing propaganda because that's where the money comes from. In this case, its sole purpose is in tricking you to believe a mic designed to be cheap is the same as a mic designed to be great. Josh Van Der Stam: • Had to choose his components/materials based on minimizing cost above all else • Knows his target market is consists primarily of amateurs who trust marketing (UA-cam) over their own experience/ears. • Has to work the cost of all of his recent research & development into his prices. Since keeping prices low is the main concern, he can only do that by further lowering the cost of production (sacrificing quality). Neumann: • Doesn't have to spend much at all on R&D. Their products paid for those costs decades ago and most of their "new" products were developed by companies they bought (K&H, MT). They just rebadged existing products, like the Klein & Hummel speakers and Anubis Pro interface... No R&D needed • They know that their market is mostly made up of trained professionals who are only swayed by their own experiences, and maybe the advice of a trusted colleague. • Their customers demand quality, so "quality at any cost" is their objective (with the exception of TLM series mics)
Genial interpretación. Bravo
