Hi Leslie, Thanks so much for your feedback and contribution to the video. I am so glad to know this video was helpful to you! Keep me updated on your progress. Thanks, John
Thank you, Harry! By the way, I am one of the ket presenters on the serve at The Tennis Summit on Monday. Here are the details: performanceplustennis--tennisfiles.thrivecart.com/tennis-summit-2021-all-access-pass/. I hope to see you there!
I've watched tons of videos on the serve, but this is the first one to mention the angle of the tossing arm. I've wondered at what point the shoulder turn should take place. Now it all makes sense; it's happening at the same time as the ball is being tossed. Thanks for another really insightful video John.
Tennis serve is too hard. We are a beginner tennis UA-cam club working out in Korea and we are learning a lot from your video. Thank you very much. I've been practicing with him.
Thank you for your kind comments. I am glad my videos are helping you. If you would like to have all the fundamental details, click here: performanceplustennis.com/serve-foundation-program-intro/. Thanks, John
Where does left arm end? Also another question, when you do a kick serve does right (racket) hand end up near your left hip or pocket or away from you towards the fence?
Hi Bruce, I prefer the left arm stay in front of the body after the tuck and hold before and during contact. Not a big fan of the throw back of the left arm that Murray started. Right hand should finish more on the right side in most cases, as a natural result of the swing pattern to play a kick serve. Thanks, John
@@garethonthetube Sorry about the background noise. It was actually a chain saw that the mic picked-up. We did our best to mute it, but yes, it did sound like you
Is there a difference between the NDA pulling away vs dropping from the trophy position? From the videos it seems important that it actually moves into the court on a semicircle path rather than just dropping into the tucked position. Thanks, wonderful insights in to the game.
Hi Thomas, Yes, there absolutely is! If the NDA simply drops into the tuck, it won't initiate the shoulder turn that the movement is set-up to perform. Yes, the NDA must pull away in a semi-circle to lead the shoulder rotation. Great observation that I detail more closely in my course builder courses. Thanks, John
If the tossing arm goes out at 45-degrees, do you rotate to find the ball at the correct contact point, or does the toss arc from right to left (for a righty)?
Great question! Extended the tossing arm at 45 will require a slight arc in the flight of the toss. Extending at 90 (like Federer) will result in more arc in the flight to the correct contact. Best, John
Woo so amazing 😍 🙌 really appreciate coach! This help improve my serve 💯 I I'll be putting up a video! practicing my new serve Technic on my channel 🤞🤞🤞 thanks for the HELP
Thank you, Hossein for your feedback and contribution to the video! I have studied the serve for many years and have been on the front end of numerous revelations. Best, John
HI Bob, Yes, that was a particularly tough day for noise: airplanes, chain saws and leaf blowers! We tried to mask some of it with music. Sorry, but I hope you benefit from the content! Kindly, John
Hi Rich, Unfortunately it was a very loud day at the club: Leaf blowers, mowers, airplanes, and to top it off, a chain saw. We did the best we could to reduce the noise and also by adding music. The content off this video is truly valuable. I hope you were bale to get a strong take-away from this lesson. Best regards, John

Catching the ball on your racquet at about the 2-40 mark is such a subtle flex. Great racquet control!
Thanks! Lot's of practice over the years!
Great lesson coach on the tossing arm
Excellent lesson thank you.But why the music?
Hi Dave, Glad you liked the lesson. My video editor placed the music in...I assume you feel it is a distraction? Thanks, John
bam. that roddick photo nails it. non dominate arm keeps rotating back after the toss. totally makes sense. can’t wait to try it tomorrow!!! 🙏
