    Really appreciate you doing this video! I’ve been going back and forth between the 44” and 56” and your reasoning and the way you organized your box has fully convinced me that the 44” is going to suit my needs much better. Thanks!

    I just got the 44 inch part for now, going to get the side addition, and the chest for it when my paychecks allow me to. For owning a small racecar team, this is a miracle box! Thanks for the awesome review, and gives me confidence knowing I made the right purchase!

    I'm retired and decided I wanted to try machining. Bought a Jet 9X49 mill, used. Couldn't find a used lathe that I was sure didn't have problems (I live in the middle of nowhere.) So bought a new PM1440HD in 2016. Soon became apparent that an organized storage of all the tooling, etc. was needed. Sears was going down the shit chute and clearing stuff. I made an offer on a 44" base and upper roll around. Much to my surprise they took it. I put most of my mechanics tools in that.
    Last year I bought a US General (H Frt) 44" roll around. Seems like a nice box. Put a 3/4 melamine top on it for all my quick grab items by the mill. Most of the drawers are very shallow, good for some things but not others.
    Yesterday I bought a 56" US General (H Frt) when they had it on $70 off. The tool cabinets have gone up quite a lot in price. There are more drawers that are a bit deeper so I'll be able to move some things there that are now on shelves 2 or 3 deep. Today's project is rearranging my space to fit it in. Too much stuff! But a guy can never have too many tools.
    Do you have heat or AC in the container?

    I was dead set on picking up the 72” box. Once I got there and looked at it, I decided on the 56” bottom box with the matching top box and two side boxes for the same reasons. The 72” drawers were bigger than I wanted or needed. I wanted more smaller drawers. I’m sure it will be the last box I ever buy.

    I am auto technician been doing it for about 9 years, I always usually start with tools from harbor freight my first tool cart and tools were all from harbor freight. Harbor freight is close and there are plenty near me but I find it annoying to go and drive to the store and warranty swap tools. What I found especially if you’re working the trade harbor freight or Pittsburgh tool are good to start but what I did is as they break or I have money I’ll slowly replace the cheap tools with tool truck tools. If you plan on working in the trade yes they’re more expensive by a lot, but the tool truck comes to you and quality tools are time savers which means move efficiency and in turn is more money especially if you’re flat rate.

    Looking at retiring my Snap-On 5319 Heritage Rollcab. It was great when I started out, but its full (no junk or 5:00 drawers) and its going to cost $3000 to put a matching topbox on it (18" deep boxes are hard to shop for!) So I'm looking at Harbor Freight 44x22 with top box, side drawer cab and locker on either side. It's going to be around $1300 to do. I'm a diesel mechanic, so the 53 or 72" box seems to make more sense, but I cannot get used to the fact that I'd have to open the drawer from the right. The 44" doesn't have that pesky lock on the drawer. I need a bigger box with the larger drawers. The Cornwell guy wasn't too happy (and Snappy is probably pissed) but I'll be filling it right back up off their trucks. I don't have $10,000 to buy a G*dd**med toolbox!

    • @bubbanater1984
      @bubbanater1984 4 роки тому

      Pat Callahan man I would really suggest the 72” box if I was a diesel mechanic you will be very disappointed in the build quality of the 44 or 56 if your rolling them around all day thanks for the view and comment

    Excellent organization. I am saving this video because I just got the same main box and I want the side box as well. I also want the side locker and top. I have heard nothing but good things about the 44's. The others (56 72) not so much.

    • @Drewcifer1972
      @Drewcifer1972 3 роки тому

      @@rodneywager2142 I'm on the fence about that. I have had to move a box and the drawers just fly open when I make a turn. I'd prefer a slide lock or a soft close. The one fault with the box is you have to make sure every drawer is positively closed. Before you move it and before you lock it to go home from work. I've had to relock this box because the visual from locked to unlocked could be 1/8" Other than that it's a great box for home use. not so much for keeping people out of it at work. Multiple times I can't trust it. I have to lock and check every drawer.

    I run a lube shop, I could fill the 72" by itself, but I prefer most of the drawers in my 44", because of compartmentalize organization! But I do wish I had a bigger socket drawer. I wouldn't mind the 72" socket drawer. I have 44, plus top chest, but I am considering locker for the stuff much like my shop vac, a tire inflator, stuff I don't have room for now.

    I think you got a good setup. No need to waste money on those "name brands" like Snap and Milwaukee, etc.
    I got rid of a lot of my air tools and my 65-gallon Craftsman compressor. Not useful anymore; and replacing them with DeWalt cordless electric power tools. I do like the Milwaukee 1 inch impact driver though. That thing is a beast, but it is overkill for home use.
    I might get the 56" US General too box. I like big surface area for working. Great setup.

    I like the work shop and box set up. I had a husky box with pretty deep drawers that wasted a bunch of space. I was thinking more square inches and usable space when I upgraded to a mac tech series but I found I had to keep some of my more commonly used tools in the lower drawers because the first 3 after the socket drawer were too shallow. I think the 56 or 72 would have met my needs better. I agree they would be be better if they had maybe one more row of 3-4" drawers.

    Fellow machinist here. Just wondering what kind of work you do out of the little shop? Hobby or job shop stuff? Picked up on the fact you do some firearm stuff but not much more.

      @@bubbanater1984 I've got a very similar setup myself . Small mill and lathe to do hobby stuff with at home. Was poundering the same thing between the harbor freight tool boxes and your video confirmed my suspicion on going any bigger. I appreciate the video and wish you luck on your channel!

    Did you know if I get the 26" draw can I add on the side draw you have attached to your 44" toolchest?

    • @bigcountrysshippingcontain6513
      @bigcountrysshippingcontain6513  5 років тому

      i am not sure if they will fit or not i would have to go and measure the 26" box lip on the side and the height but the side box just sets on the raised lip on the side of the box it does have bolts for the bottom if you don't plan to move it much then the bolts are required. Thanks for the view and comment.

    • @ZVPieGuy

      It probably fits on the 26”, but because the side drawers just hang on the main box and don’t have their own casters, it would probably make it unstable and possibly tip over if you don’t have the load balanced properly.

    You pulled out what you called a starter bit that looked like an Aircraft counter sink the pilot in the center is unthreaded and the threads on the back are for a threaded counter sink depth control device.
