recently stumbled upon your channel, but i love how candid and real your videos are. no weird youtubing vibes, just raw climbing in the gunks. keep crushing at your own pace!

Thank you! That's exactly the point, don't need any youtube weirdness. Faux excitement and all that.

Hey dude, I love your trad climbing videos and would be interested in seeing clean falls on decent gear and your thought process on “going for it” vs backing down. So many whips on social media platforms are on bolts and without a lot of thought. Also, my wife is a climber and we have a toddler. Can relate to your situation. If you ever want to climb some moderate big routes, let me know. We’re out West

Hey, congratulations on the marriage and your child. It's true when they say nothing is comparable to it. Leading a hard route is cool but kissing my wife and having my son smile up at me after is 10x better.
A few days ago I experienced this(going for it vs. backing down) on a dangerous lead which worked out in my favor. It was a judgment call mid-crux in a high-stress lead and it's cool that you asked about this because I hadn't considered it on my list of ideas. Definitely added and will shout you out when I get around to making it.
      Would love to climb!

Just to let you know, your channel has made me a calmer, more confident trad leader.
I think it's by demonstrating a rational, honest way to relate to risk that is absent any social pressure.
It's doubtful I'll ever be leading any 5.13 R routes, but it has been a joy to find myself so engrossed in the climbing that fear is replaced by calculated assessment.
I'm really curious to see how you train for this style of climbing. Thanks so much!

Hey dude, really psyched to hear that. Our primary motivation in starting the channel was to psyche people up on their own climbing and make them realize how safe and manageable it can be, even on routes which seem totally unsafe and totally unmanageable. Knock 'em dead.
Never say never, I started as your usual 5.5 chuffer like the rest of them. Will certain get into my own training, both physical and mental in a future video.

It would be awesome to see you go through your protection and explain what you look for when you're placing each one. There's a lot of little niche trad knowledge scattered everywhere; like some people will claim you have to be careful with horizontal placements with totems because of the damage they can have on the trigger wires. The small stuff that you've learned like that would be really cool.
My bad if you've already done a video like that, love your channel, its inspired me to be more methodical and confident with my own climbing.

Hey dude, first I'm glad to hear the channel has impacted your climbing positively. Breathe, relax, concentrate.
That's a great idea for a video, how to decide on sketchy placements and why I find something acceptable or not. Added to the list!

Discussion of gear and placements at the Gunks. My trad rack is 33 years old and still includes solid stem Friends. Thoughts on newer gear would be appreciated. I wouldn’t focus on gear reviews though, outdoorgearlab does a good job for that. Your thoughts would be appreciated on micro nuts, micro cams, and unusual gear like tricams and sliders.

Hey, thank you, I was going off-the-cuff but what I should've said was "unusual or unconventional" gear reviews and their applications to headpointing. More like hooks, ballnuts, TRS devices, and unconventional gear tactics that I've used in headpointing.
