We went from hero to zero on day three of Hot Rod Drag Week! Though we made an okayish run of 6.77, we came back to the pits and found the wheelie bars needed some fixing. OK, we can deal with that. We got on to the drive and about 200 miles in things went bad...really bad. At least my engine builder Steve Morris is on the drive with me! There is even a cameo from Stevie Fast Jackson @stevejacksonracing who came to the rescue with some tools we needed to get the Sick Seconds Camaro big block Chevy (not an SMX) patched up.
Now we've been working all night to fix it so we can make it to Carolina Dragway for day four.
Make sure to watch the Motortrend Hot Rod Drag Week live stream to see if we are there! We are still in the lead for the week but Bryant Goldstone closed the gap yesterday.
coverage of doing the interview along with the passes is so much better than other folks.
It’s cause Steve it’s trying to learn ya something! You can tell he loves what he does, that’s what makes it amazing
Its very good content
It's always best when the camera man stays quiet during the action.. 😂
The editing is on point this whole series. Bravo gents
Bailey & Morris sounds like a Law Firm 🤔🙂 Good Luck!!
Carristers & Smoke-Solicitors
Wow, the format and editing of this is fantastic. It's like watching a drag racing tv show without the unnecessary, added drama that a network would try and shoehorn in. Plus, i could listen to Steve talk shop all day
I love this stuff were so lucky to have such insider scoopz
Kudos to the Hotel for letting you guys to do the repair under there car-port . Talk about special treatment . Good luck the rest of the way.
When the godfather of dragracing shows up he gets the carport spot. Every time. Cause he’s the boss.
Imagine concincing the 19yo chick at the desk that its literally the fastest street car in the world 😅
I'd imagine they just kinda did it. Its easier to get forgiveness than ask for permission.
@@FinnellRacing, You mean Big Daddy?!! Let’s go!
@@FinnellRacing You don't need Garlits when you have Stevie Fast.
The face Steve makes after saying he was sissy footing it is spectacular 👌🏻😂 4:09
lol
The owner of the green Monte Carlo seems pretty awesome.
That’s Alan Whitaker-he is awesome!
6.40 at 235 is a great run… congrats to the guy in the viper
Looks like he can run a 5.
@@matthewerwin4677 based on what? There is a HIUGE spread from a 6.40 to a 5. He might be able to do a 5 but i havent seen anything yet to make me think he can or will do it.
He's running 6.40 will a brand new car doing shakedown runs. There's a lot left in it. The SMX can run a 5. Tom Bailey did it.
@@matthewerwin4677 How long did it take Tom and how many 5s has Tom ran? Its not easy is all im saying.
Oh THAT Steve Jackson aka Fast.
The KING saves the day . Gear heads gotta stick together
The one, the only, Stevie FAST Jackson,, saves the day with COOL tools!!!!👌👌
Where TF did a STEVE JACKSON pop out of w tools!?! 😂😂😂😂😂
I assume their in Georgia or close to which is where Stevie lives .
I think Tom has a big advantage having Steve as a pit crew! Hope it all works out for ya Tom! Hang in there Iam pulling for ya!
Also doesn't hurt to have Stevie Fast Jackson make deliveries for you
🤣😂🤣 He has a tendency to lift! Steve is on a roll 😂
Awesome coverage and content Tom. You have set the "Standard" for Drag and Drive events !
This is Hot Rod Drag Week, he has nothing to do with it other than being a competitor...
I like it when Steve talks nerdy to us.
Steve thanks for the tech on Tom's chicken foot.😆
Steve is there with his cape. Nothing to worry about!!! SMX I’m the viper is putting in work.
It’s good to have Steve Morris as your crew, chief and partner give them hell guys you got this love y’all
I want a Rat Fink style t shirt that has Steve MO with a big cartoon head driving a truck. It should state, "That Steve Morris is a smart Mother Trucker"
That viper is bad ass
Tom Bailey, Steve Morris, Stevie Fast what a bunch of legends.
I find it amazing that with all the SMX's running at drag week. Its a pre-SMX car that Steve is being asked to make competitive.Gee thanx Tom!
Wasn't the original plan as the car he was going to be tuning wasn't ready in time.
@@adematthewsracingit’s the 10 year anniversary of 1.0 being the first 6 second drag week car so they took that. It was way simpler to put the rear end back in 2.0 than it was to do all the work getting 1.0 ready. It’s nice that Tom decided to do that
@@newslendergaming6721 Yes I know but Steve wasn't meant to be going in that car. He was meant to be going in the new SML powered car that Jason had built but it wasn't ready in time. Watching the beginning of Steves shop update video last week.
What a story to have, getting home on 4 cylinders and Stevie Fast brings tools. Can’t wait for day 4. Hope you get it all fixed. 😎👍
Gotta think of my favorite "Content Creator" racers... Steve Jackson and probably Clay Millican.... but you two take the cake for well thought out disasters... Makes me smile to watch guys as old as my grandpa out there tearing up the asphalt
You keep up what you're doing for the youth of the sport , looking back of what you're doing for the sport of drag racing. Words don't do it justice !!
The viper guy is just loving life. Also Steve is just the best.
With Bristol Dragway being my home track the comment, "If heaven had a drag strip this would be it" was the quote of the week for me. That needs to be on a shirt. 😊
Good job leaving the injectors plugged in Steve lol,but really glad to see you are human like the rest of us!
Aaaawe maaan I feel ya guys!
I drove from Northeast PA to Ennis back in '96. For a True Street event.
Stopped to test in Memphis.
Cooked a head gasket, loaded the car drove to the track. And stayed up all night pulling the intake and driver's side head. Got it done about 7am.
Did the whole trip ALONE as no one could take work off.
Keep on keeeping on!!!🥳✨💥🏁
Steveie is the man! Great content guys!
Toms channel is going full blown 1320 with this drag week and im all for it since they aren't there lol
Copy the best
Any reason why they aren't? I miss the road carnage
Watched the car run live AFTER this repair and it was BLISTERING. Crazy good field repair.
Wicked coverage with daily uploads. Thnx again sick crew. Can’t imagine all these boys go through each day Nevermind filming it all then getting it uploaded.
Also Ned is killing it!!
Shout out to whatever hotel that is,,nice of them to let all that work happen at their front door!
Keep showing the tech, great coverage of the hassles and heartaches of doing this, Thanks for that.
There is nothing like having friends like Stevie fast Jackson to come to the rescue
"if heaven had a dragstrip this would be it" XD i love it
Bristol, and Tennessee in general is ❤❤❤❤
Really enjoy the"ads" for the Magazine you guys are funny!😅👍
I don't know who is filming and editing your videos, but they are the best! Thanks for the great coverage & good luck.
Glad to see that Stevie Fast could help you out, you were right in his backyard!!
Formally Broke neck Stevie Fast Jackson!!! What a man. Always there to help a racer in need. Great work everyone. Hopefully you get everything figured out and you are back racing.
Steve, your tech talk is awesome. Love the explanation of how you're making adjustments I the tune. Tom and Steve make a great team, especially when yall are flipping each other crap all the time
Technically day three of racing but you guys have been at it for extra days on top of that. Quick breath and an extra nap to reset for the last couple days and you're golden. Keep kicking ass!
Awesome videos!
You guys are so fun to watch together.
Don't know Tom but have watched him on and off several years at drag week. Always seems calm no matter what happens. Takes it all in stride.
Damn, that’s crazy! You guys are pros, how lucky did y’all get that fuel didn’t get to something hot and ignite
Should we take the title away from Nugent? The Motor City Mad Man?? You & Steve are killing it, have fun & enjoy the drive.
Wow! Good thing for Steve with tools.
It is much more entertaining to see you run it safely and make the whole week than blow it up on day 2. Keep rocking and rolling guys.
Like the Chickenfoot metric in the tune!
Tom Bailey and Steve Morris for the win!
I have something to say about computer glitches
I have had some computers come up with some crazy crap that was never expected. Not with cars, but with all kinds of industrial controls.
When I had trouble with a control that did not accept new programming correctly or seemed to be operating with 2 different sets of instructions, I found a go around to get thru until replacement was performed.
I would first download and save the current program.
I would then delete any program from the computer and any backup, along with temporary files.
I would then power the computers down completely, then restart.
I would then upload the new programming and verify it.
For some reason, once in a while backup files would get mixed up with current programming and do some nutsy stuff. The computer would try to fill in blanks by accessing backup or temp files.
Memory corruption due to too many rewrites seemed to confuse them.
By using the instructions I outlined above was the only way I could positively confirm current programming until the culprit was fixed.
Just my offering from a loyal follower.
Now I wanna know what the parking lot drama was all about. 😂
Me too. Hope it wasn't a team having an issue.
being a street racer in the past. Makes me want to sell my altered and do some of these drag and drives. Great group of people as most racers are. With your determination and skills its Tom and Steve for the win.
Looks like a blast. But then I remember....how many times in a row have I gone racing and NOT had something bad/expensive happen.
Bless y'all's heart....can't wait to see tomorrows video of the Resurrection.....
I would have liked to see the parking lot machining of the valve guides get done on this video, however I am happy to see any video at all when the two of you are working such long days.
This is awesome. Not getting much done at work as im following the livestream replays. Fantastic.
I love watching these videos. Anything with Steve Morris is a great video. Extremely intelligent person and Tom on top of it is a win all the way. Extremely impressed on the way y’all can handle this. True passion on yalls part.
Y’all boys got this keep up the good work guys.
Man, Steve Morris breaking down the run data and what the cars doing, absolutely invaluable information.
Homeslice really does the whole "Sheit son, I'll show ya how I do it! Ya still won't be quick enough unless I break down. Come run something!"
Dude just is a massive wealth of information, a pillar of the drag and drive community alongside Tom Bailey and everyone that runs anything on these events.
Once I get my Tahoe/porkapotamus mcskillet deluxe to run at least 12s or so, I'm gonna be out there.
Just gotta sell the other truck, shuck and jive some used parts/some bargain parts and then some long nights.
I'm gonna drag and drive before I die damnit, if it kills me!
(And I know that first attempt damn near might just....)
Y'all are living the absolute dream, guys!
Thanks for brightening another 12 hour shift running machines.
STEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you
Love watching and keeping up with you guys Tom and Steve. Soon I'll be fully retired and will come along !!
Thank you your video's include something interesting for everyone. A true test of man/woman and the cars there building. I'm looking forward for the next videos.
Stevie FAST Jackson, your a Legend. This is what makes drag racing so much better than nearly all other sports. Great video, thanks for sharing and good luck for the rest of the week.
Steve is a smart M.F. no doubt about it. 😂
Great video .. fun to watch ,,, Thanks for sharing Guys .....
I love these two guys. Seeing them team up on a drag n drive is awesome to watch.
Steve, you and Tom are killing it, man, especially considering the tire change and all the old data lost in the old laptop. Give her heck Friday, guy, and Goldstone wound up in the 6.68 if i remember correctly closing that gap a little more. We really want to see Tom win on his 10th anniversary.
That is wild all the cars in the hotel parking lot being worked on......Awesome!
We dont doubt you mate, you have forgot more than most will ever know.
Stevie Fast and Steve MakeItGoFast. Now that's a crew.
Love the tech talk, Steve! Keep it coming!
“Quit your job, buy a racecar and go to drag and drive events” 😂
Ok, I’ll get right on that.
8:43 Amazing attitude!!! Safe travels to all of ya.
Loving the new Steve Morris displacement on demand engine 😂
The green line is Tom sissy footing it 😂😂😂❤
I'm halfway certain that Steve Morris is in some way, shape, or form related to John Force. Both of those dudes are always smiling even if the world is on fire and they're both fast as fuuuuuuuuuuuu
there is a meme about steve getting up bright and early to do his valve lash, at the end there.. lol
Definitely the best coverage out there for this. Editing is top notch!!
Steve also the shts cause he says
Sissy footing
And spinny describing a lil traction loss
😂😂😂😂 yall are awesome 🎉😅😅😅
God I love these D&D events, always something new, eh Steve?
Well well done Steve and Tom I find it more and more amazing every time I watch a video of what an engine will do with less parts on the inside as long as it's at the top of the motor
I'm sure the hotel management enjoys you guys putting and Exxon Vadez oil slick in their entrance!!
That parking lot fight was hilarious 😅
great sportsmanship guys man wish i was there to help you guys ...
It ended right when we were getting to watch Steve in action
I do not know Tom or Steve. Meaning I haven't met them in person.
Just hearing them talk, and their mannerisms and the way they treat other people, I can tell they are a couple of guys I would like to meet and get to know.
If I ever get my 65 Nova Drag-n-Drive worthy, maybe I will get the opportunity.
Good job to you and your teams, and of course, your fellow racers.
I think Steve has a touch of early onset, but he forgot to tell us.
Morning coffee and a great video, doesn't get any better.
Awesome. Cool as a cucumber. You guys rock... and race!
God bless: May the Drag God's Shine down on you.
this electronic tunin' stuff blows me away. pretty interesting.
The green light is tom sissy footing it lol gotta love Steve great content keep it up.
Watch'n all these cool hotrods run low 9's thru mid 8's is just too amazing. I think some folks really don't understand how much money, how many sleepless nights, hard work and sacrifice it takes to make a 'street driven door car' go down Broadway as quick and fast as these cars are going. Folks,, those kinds of times are FULL ON LEGIT rail job drag car times and speeds and these guys and gals are driving them 1000 miles and racing them HARD each day. Amazing,, absolutely amazing indeed! 🙂
Crossing fingers for You here in Norway Tom🤞
27:55 Shake and Bake baby
It was Good to see Fast Jackson...
Thank you Steve for those details,, it matters that we better understand the verbiage you fellers use when you're talking with us about what went on in one of the hotrod's awesome pass's. All the issues you guys are overcoming is amazing. As they sued to say in 'Truck'n Magazine' KEEP ON TRUCK'N!
Loved seeing Stevie Fast!
KTR 😎💪🏁
Tom Bailey does not care about your fistfight, the only boxers he cares about go under his race suit
