I just want you to know just how much this channel inspires me. As someone who's not that good at building in Minecraft and only can play Minecraft on PE, this channel has given me that extra boost I need to move closer to my dream of building a city in Minecraft. Also, you don't have to but can you make a video on how you don't get overwhelmed with all the ideas and such? Thank you and keep up the good job!

    • @Alpine1

I’m so glad to hear that! I started playing Minecraft on pocket edition back in 2012 because I didn’t have a computer, I know it’s tough but it’s still a lot of fun! I might make a video about how I actually organize city planning, but it’s mostly just drawings of road & transit plans, different areas with different styles and a big long list of buildings that I want to make

Great video, your city looks absolutely stunning, great job.
My biggest tip for people starting a minecraft city aside from elevation changes like you mentioned would be including lots of curves and irregularities in your road network.
Obviously plan your road network well so that it suits your cityscape, but stay away from a flat 1 plane layout with roads all laid out in grids, thats how 90% of people starting out make their cities and it doesnt have much character.
Have bends, overpasses, tunnels, cul-de-sac's etc. Asymmetric road networks are more interesting and realistic in my opinion :)

I had started on a really promising city, but due to the fact that I was using a non-Vanilla world generator and copying the world over and over, Vanilla world generation ruined a lot of the city. I've since started a new one, and used Worldedit's schematic system to import the surviving parts of the city to the new one. By far not as bad as your situation, but I was still rather frustrated.

Mobility, visibility, details, tone, etc. is all covered in these tips you give in some way or another. Truly INSPIRING! Or how big do you think both city and suburban blocks should generally turn out to be? Or does it not matter because they are all going to be different ... or maybe I should ask how wide the buildings need to be, and about how many I should have in one city block?? Thank you. =)

I have been researching human habitation for the last ten years since I got a laptop and started playing the game in an effort to educate myself about good and robust designs.
Since I play vanilla with building mods, I am trying to create a island kingdom with a somewhat similar size as Andea with a focus on the coastal towns on the mainlands the island is beset by. After years I've finished a rough draft of the dimensions and surrounding, but I am currently stuck in a thought.
I need ghettos and shanties, dilapidated buildings and rough areas. I was going to have have certain areas struck with corruption and whatnot to have a visual indicator of the split between the classes.
I am now considering something like an underground complex where the lower classes live.
So far, I think this, as well as above ground dwelling will add depth and layer into the continent as well as add a chance for better story writing.
Do you have any thoughts, recommendations or concerns that you might share with me?
