    I've got a friend who's in his 80s, shoots a bell target at 10 MTRS( from his arm- chair to the back kitchen door!) with an FWB 600...& I've never seen him miss!!! great fun 👍

      Hello, thank you for your comment. Hmm now there's an idea. We already shoot 6 yard Bell Target standing in the house, I wonder if Mrs Vending will sanction extending it out to 10m (the length of the kitchen and utility room).

    Interesting video, Nick. I retired last winter and started this sport, although I've been shooting airrifles since the 1970's, it was all hunting and plinking. So I purchased a FWB150 and had my eyes opened! Turned my basement into a indoor shooting range, bell target and bulleyes. Now that the weather is better, I shoot in the backyard. I've had more fun with this gun than all my others. May try a cheap build similar to yours. Thanks for the inspiration! ScottinUSA

      Hello Scott, yes Bell Target is quite addictive. I used to mainly shoot firearms with Bell Target as an occasional hobby, up until I had an injury to my right hand. I gave up the firearms and was going to give up shooting altogether but my faithful FWB 300S Bell Target rifle got my confidence back.
      I can't take any credit for this build, it was done by a friend of mine. However I am in the process of buying the rifle from him to use for another build - it is certainly accurate enough for the job I have in mind.

    That would make quite a good Target Sprint gun. You knock down a 49.8mm or 35mm knock down disc from 10 metres, free standing with open sights, must be single shot gun / tray fitted. You do need to be able to run 400 metres x three laps and knock down a row of 5 discs twice in between :)

      Hello, thanks for your comment much appreciated. I think it would be ideal, especially if you need to carry the rifle with you on your back as it is compact and very lightweight.
      Not sure if I could hit anything after running 400m, my body is built for walking.

      @@nickvending9688 In Target Sprint, you leave the gun on a stand on the range, otherwise similar to Biathlon. When you pick up the gun after the run, it is challenging to hit the target, for sure

    I 👍 the video as dependingupon how our winter is or just when I want to relax.I have a nice18 plus yard area in my house I can use for 10m work.I think a 177 putting out 5 fpe should be safe inside

      @nickvending9688  Рік тому

      Hello, thank you for your comment. That sounds ideal, wish I had 18yards inside my house! Hoping to build an extension eventually, hopefully that will give 10yards for indoor shooting.
      One thing I have learnt since I posted the video is that the front barrel band pulls the barrel of the PR900W slightly downwards, so you will need compensate for that by raising the rear sight using a slim spacer.

    Hi groupies
    I got the above rifle with aim of making it a cheap 10 metre target rifle. I’ve removed the front and rear open sights and put another barrel band on to house the front diopter sight, one problem I encountered was I’ve run out of elevation adjustment but it’s on target so maybe the problems me. I’ve also cut down the hammer spring to get it shooting 5.5 ftlb. Just got it all set up then the hex bolt that cocks the mechanism decides it wants to undo so I can’t lower the bolt to lock it, I understand this is a common fault so this is how I repaired it.
    first I took the stock off three hex bolts holds it on, then I loosed and removed the barrel bands the I spent the gun on it’s back being careful not to use the trigger pins. Undone the bolt housing in front of the action again a hex bolt, removed the bolt at the rear, then took out the single shot tray and under this is a tiny hex bolt, I undid this and the bolt housing came away from the main body of the rifle. Spun that over and there is the hex bolt that’s the problem so I gave it some blue locktight and pinched it up. All with the reservoir full of air, if you don’t feel confident just shoot the air out till the reservoir is empty. No need to remove the bolt handle from the bolt. Reverse to put back, just make sure the cocking bolt is at the front. She seems to be shooting sweet at the moment. It really is an easy job to do. This is freestanding at 10 metres. I’m happy with that.

    Great video Nick as always. Is this rifle a sub 12fpe version as it sounds rather quiet. Really enjoy your channel and like this this sight idea will be a nice challenge. Have you worked on the internals of this rifle much? I have seen your video when you worked on the trigger

    • @nickvending9688
      @nickvending9688  2 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment and thank you for the feedback, very much appreciated. Glad you are enjoying the channel.
      The rifle is the sub 12ftlb version. I am pretty sure they are around 9ftlb, I must get around to running mine over the Chrony.
      The subject .177 target rifle was put together by a friend of mine, all he has done is alter the trigger screw and fit the additional barrel band otherwise it is completely stock. He is planning on fitting a regulator at some point and making a target style stock with plenty of adjustment options to improve the ergonomics.
      Mine is .22 so sadly it can't be used for bell target or 10m target. However I have purchased a second barrel band so I will film a video to see how much difference it will make over 25yards.

  • @kevinlongbon7998
    @kevinlongbon7998 2 роки тому +1

    Hi Nick great video, how did you get the front sight off is it a press fit jobbie. Also on the theme of cheap target rifle The QB78 target is a Co2 rifle, is it easy to covert to a HPA rifle, because it comes with a decent stock, trigger and dioptre sights. seems the best of both worlds to me.

    • @nickvending9688
      @nickvending9688  2 роки тому +1

      Hello thank you for your comment, much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the video. The builder advised me that he did use a bit of brute force to remove the front sight. It is pressed on as you say.
      From memory he gripped the front sight using mole grips with rubber between the jaws and the sight to prevent damage and persuaded it to come off.
      I would suggest that the barrel is held in a vice (again with protective material) so that there is no torque applied to the joint between the barrel and the action.
      I do plan on removing my front sight soon to carry out a modification so I will video the process and post it.
      I haven't had any experience of the QB78. I think I remember seeing a PCP conversion kit a couple of years ago but it looked a bit awkward.
      There is bound to be a way of either adapting another PCP system onto it or maybe adapt the QB78 stock to fit a PR900W.
      Once my workshop is up and running I will be developing a universal target air rifle chassis system, sadly time and money are against me at present.
      Hope this helps, let me know if you require any further information.
      All the best, safe shooting 👍🏻

    Is there a standard 1v1 scoring, or just 7 shots each and best score wins?

    Does it meet the power requirements for a target rifle, ie 6 fp rather thna 12? Thanks.

    • @nickvending9688
      @nickvending9688  Рік тому

      The power output of these is quite variable from example to example. From memory this particular rifle was 9ftlb, which was still acceptable in the league we were shooting in.

    got my budget bell target rifle finished i think SMK Victory PR900W. problem is I've maxed out my Airarms diopter elevation and its about 5mm low any suggestions. Second problem is that the bolt wont revolve down into the slot, it shoots ok so might leave it if you got any suggestions I'd be grateful. cant post a picture unfortunately.

    • @nickvending9688
      @nickvending9688  2 роки тому

      Hello thank you for your comment. That's a pain. I reckon you will need to raise the back sight up, probably by 5mm. Buying the raiser blocks is a bit of a minefield. You could try speaking to Andy at AL Craft, I know him and if necessary he can measure my PR900W's dovetail. Or try somewhere like Intershoot. Or take a chance on something from eBay (results vary).
      Regarding the bolt rotation, check the pellet is seating properly into the bore, could be it needs a bit more pressure behind the bolt. My first PR900W needed a bit of gentle persuasion to start with before it bedded in.

      Hello, if you are in the UK try Bagnall and Kirkwood. They may ship abroad, or try looking for an airgun spares outlet, ebay etc.
      It is a factory part, it is the band that holds the rear sight so alternatively, you could try moving the band that is already on the gun. It will then give a mounting point for the front sight.
