Thank you so much! Love it!
So pretty!, Thank you!😊
Thanks for your tutorial. I learn something easier . I like it and I will try to do a small one for a start. Tanx.
I have a pair of round head spring style Fiskars scissors. So when I did my small squares one, I could go straight to the seam without worrying about cutting the seam. I saw a video that said to completely make each square and then cut the fringe. I tried it and it was a mess when sewing them together. But I did cut it when I sewed 2 rows together. That way I didn't have to do all the rows at the end. I just had the vertical rows and the outside edge to fringe. It saved time and pain on my hands.
I’m going to give this a try :) great video ❤️
I LOVE THIS!!! wowza!!!
I'm totally going to try to make this one!

Really cute! Thanks
Erica, you are amazing. Honestly, Ive never ever sewn in my life.Id never even set a sewing machine up. Im now 57, found your rag quilt and I made it.Youve now got me on a whole journey of wanting to learn to sew, and quilting is what I really want to do. I love love love this pinwheel quilt, so it will be my next to try. I have 1 question, would it be possible to teach us how to make a pillow case, so we can match it with our quilts. It doesn't have to be a rag pillow, but Ive never made one and I'd love to make one to match my beautiful quilt. I made a few mistakes, but I got there and even though its not perfect, I absolutely love it. Thanks for everything you do. I love your channel so much xxx
Lorraine, enjoy your new found creativity. I learned to sew from my grandmothers and I am now a grand and great grand mother. Trying to share the fun with the littles in the family.

So stinking cute!
Love this flannel quilt. Great for a baby as well in a smaller size. I think it would be helpful if you had mentioned at the beginning that although you were using 10" squares for the pinwheels, the resulting block is 12 1/2" so the backing fabric needs to be cut into squares of that size.
All of the cutting instructions are listed in the description box and on the download pdf.
Got it! I was watching on the TV app. : )
Sew gorgeous ❤️
Lovely! Can't wait to try!
Why did you start and leave a 1/2 in at the end of your blocks when slowing together?
I really love this! Can you give me a link for fleece layer cakes? Not sure what I picked was fleece? Great job! Thank you
The layercake is flannel, the fleece or batting for the middle layer was cut from yardage :)
Ohhh gotcha! Thanks for clearing that up for me!
Love this quilt Erica. Pinwheels look great. I’ve actually bought the fabric to make my first rag quilt. It is all flannel too. Thanks for sharing. I watched your other tutorial a while back. Just going to make mine in square blocks. Thanks for sharing.
PS - Do you have the recipe for the roll up cake Haley made?
Thanks.

Erica Arndt Thanks Erica. Happy Weekend! 🤗🤗🤗
Love your tutorials and videos. I have a layer cake of plaid flannel. Can I use cotton fabric to make pin wheels and backing or should I use all flannel fabric? ❤🐢
Hi, Yes you can use whatever fabric you like! :) For my original rag quilt I actually broke all of the rules and mixed quilting cotton, minky, and flannel in the same quilt and it's fabulous!
On your sewing machine, the lines you have infront of the foot running towards you that has 1/4 inch on them, where did you get it? I love your videos, thank you!!
I LOVE IT !!! my question is why was your batting smaller then the rest of the squares ? and what size did it finish to be ?
You can make your batting the same size, but I was using cotton batting which will kind of come apart over time, so I wanted it contained within the block. Plus once you sew the blocks together you have four layers of fabric going together and that's plenty for the rag fringe. The last rag quilt I made used fleece for the center layer and that one I made all the same size so you saw the fleece. So there were 6 layers being sewn together for the rag fringe! Both work just fine, it just depends on what look you're going for. :)
I love your rag quilt!!! I was wondering if you can to a rag quilt with a regular layer cake and then use flannel on back?
I hav that video here ua-cam.com/video/L8iwWA-VeXE/v-deo.html
Really like this quilt! I don’t think I heard you say the size of the backing squares. The one I’m making is about 12.25”; which I’ve squared to 12”.
All of the cutting info is in the PDF download :)
Love it! Did you purchase the white flannel in a layer cake as well, or did you cut those?
I purchased the front patterned fabric as a layercake, the rest was cut from yardage.
Thank you! For some reason I thought the backing was 10" squares and not 12.5 - I was so confused. Can't wait to make this - thank you Erica!
Pinwheels can spin left or right. If you make them all face the same direction then you will not get large triangles of white or two colours against each other.
Make sure to read the instructions...I didn't, and cut all my squares (backing, batting, pinwheels) all 10". When my pinwheels were done, they ended up being 12.5" square, 2.5" too big for the 10" backing fabric. So I had to trim them down quite a bit.
I'm sorry for any confusion, that's why I put the exact instructions in the PDF, sometimes I say the wrong measurements in the video.
I am having trouble on one point, but am working to bring it in closer..precious quilt.
I ran into same problem..cut them as said but 10 inch backing fabric is too short
I have the Accuquilt GO die for rag quilting. I wonder if I create the pinwheel, I could then cut on the Accuquilt? But if the finished book is 12.5 and the dies is 8.5 maybe not. Have to think about this. I just hate cutting the fringe.
You don't have to make your blocks the same as mine, as long as your pinwheels are all the same size you're good to go :)
Hi Erica! I love your videos. I would love to know about the farm quilt hanging on your wall. Is there a pattern? Thanks!
I added the info to the description box above. :)
Please forgive me if it was already there! I was so excited, I didn't look. LOL
No, I forgot to add it, so thanks for letting me know! I always get questions on it :)
❤️❤️❤️
That was great! I made a crib size rag quilt out of flannel on the front and minky on the back. It was really hard to get through and I was using a quilting foot. Any suggestions on how to get a better outcome? I'm having to go back through it because it has all shifted a bit. Help?!
I would try spray basting with 505, it helps keep the fabric from shifting. Another thing that can help is to put the flannel down towards your feed dogs and the minky up towards your presser foot. It's smoother and can help the minky slide better :) Hope that helps!
@@erica_arndt great idea!
Somewhat of a beginner here. Are you back stitching when you’re piecing together the original 10-inch squares to the Background?
I'm about to make one myself but my blocks are going to be a different size...so I had to resort to high school geometry to figure out the proper size to make my squares.
How long does your Panasonic cordless iron stay warm? I’ve been going to purchase one, but I’ve heard they cool down quickly.
Quite awhile, it does have an auto shut off which is handy. I haven't had any problems with it cooling as long as I put it back on the base regularly, but I press a ton of blocks in a row without it cooling.
Erica Arndt Thank you. That’s a big help. God Bless. ❤️
Could you do a mixture of cotton and flannel for the front?
Yes, I did that in my first rag quilt tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/L8iwWA-VeXE/v-deo.html
Omg I freaking LOVE that quilt! Do you have a bird?? I heard tweeting...😉
Yes LOL! We have two parakeets!
