The Beatles were inbetween drummers ,My uncle Norman Chapman, was a drummer ,He used to play his drums above his picture framers shop in Bold Street Liverpool ,They heard his playing and shouted up to him could he play in the group ,He agreed ,he was the drummer for a couple of weeks but he was called up for National Service (The draft ) so he went off to the army ,missed out ,
Regarding the last fact, John wasn’t wrong when he said The Beatles would be around for 10 years since the band (as The Beatles) was together from 1960 to 1970
I'd like to be a hairdresser. Actually I'd like to be 2 hairdressers. Thanks Alan, I'd forgotten that Ringo made that comment when asked how long they would last. 😀
Manager :would you guys play for the stripper ? Paul : No way.🙄 (Others dragging him to discuss in a circle ) 🤨🤨🤨🤨 🤔🤔🤔🤔 😞😞😞😞 😒😒😒😒 🤑🤑🤑🤑 Paul : Yeah why not.
Your videos always astound me by the amount of research put into them. Most channels wouldn't try as hard to give their audience interesting, and well thought out content. Good on you guys guys, and awesome video 👍
Great nuggets of info. I have an old book written by their first manager Allen Williams called " The Man Who Gave The Beatles Away." So titled because when Brian Epstein was considering managing them, Williams cautioned "I wouldn't touch them with a f*cking bargepole". ( He left them over a disagreement about his percentage they felt he wasnt earning) FYI, the hair product Brylcream you mentioned was pronounced "Brill cream.
I've never heard it said but I think "Billy Shears" of the Sgt Pepper album is a reference to Ringo's comment about opening a hair salon. I can just hear John ribbing Ringo with that nickname and Paul later using it in the song. Pure speculation but it makes sense.
A small point but there aren't many pictures of the Beatles dressed as Teddy Boys, who dressed in long coats, high wasted trousers, etc. John and George dressed like that off stage but on stage went for a traditional rock look with matching outfits until finally settling with copying one of their heroes, Gene Vincent's leather gear. Keep up the great work.
Random comment, but possibly worth exploring… If you were to think of a band in history that you could consider to have similar chemistry/ or (obviously to a lesser degree) similar magic, as the Beatles, who would it be? Would it be obvious after-bearers of the Beatles torch, like ELO? My vote might be The Pixies.. Black Francis’ vinegar and artsy-ness, Kim deal’s melody and harmony, Joey Santiago’s guitar.. and lovering’s drumming.. I’d be curious to hear how other people might respond to this ?
I got married in St Peters church ,my Mum was the caretaker at that time in the little school across the road where they first played on the back of a Lorry (truck )
The Beatles dressing in a "Teddy Boys" style is just so funny to me XD. I like them better with suits. (Edit) Also, their quotes though?? John, Paul, and George all gave ideas of how long they thought the band would last (John had pretty good judgment thinking they'd last about 10 more years, since they ended up lasting about 7 more), and Ringo's just over there like, "I've always fancied having a ladies hair dressing salon." 🤣
Fun fact: When Buddy Holly decided he wanted an insect name for his group and finally decided on The Crickets, one of the names that were in the running was The Beetles 😀
I heard the name Beatles was inspired by Buddy Holly and the Crickets, who named their group after playing in their garage to an audience of crickets. There's a bit more to the story but nothing involved with the Beatles playing to an audience of Beatles.
That's kinda true. They thought that The Crickets was a pun on the bug and the sport. So Beatles was in tribute of that: a bug and a reference to Beat music.
Teddy boys did not wear leather they wore suits of long Edwardian jackets with velvet collars and cuffs with tight trousers, boot lace ties and crepe soled shoes. Guys in leather were called rockers - who came after Teddy Boys. Check out Ringo's dress in the movie That'll Be The Day.
@Mark boubonis Part of me thinks you are joking but I'll take your bait. Mods came long after Teddy Boys who began in the 50's. Mods were a 60's vogue who rode motor scooters covered in lights and chrome wore smart casual clothes with short hair and their rivals were rockers in leather. The Mods favourite band was the Who but one Top of The Pops show featured the band all dressed in leather playing a song I Can See For Miles - the Who were bent on expanding their fan base. www.google.com/search?q=Teddu+Boys&rlz=1C1AVFC_enCZ797CZ797&oq=Teddu+Boys&aqs=chrome..69i57.4479j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Another fact is that when they recorded 'My Bonnie' with Tony Sheridan they were put down as 'The Beat Brothers' because beatle sounds like a german slang word for penis 😂
LOS PRIMEROS BEATLES FUERON MÁS AUTÉNTICOS, MÁS LIBRES, MÁS FELICES. DESPUÉS LOS EGOS DE LENNON Y MCCARTNEY LIMITARON Y OBSTRUYERON EL DESARROLLO DE GEORGE HARRISON Y A RINGO SÓLO SE LE DEJÓ SER EL BATERISTA.
The Beatles audition for a new drummer
Pete was the best
But Ringo was a star!
Well played
Ringo was a star, but Pete was the best.

Another great outing Mr. Hobbs. Thank you.
Regarding the last fact, John wasn’t wrong when he said The Beatles would be around for 10 years since the band (as The Beatles) was together from 1960 to 1970
@Fruit Trying he meant the beatles as the name of the band wasnt around until 1960

You left out the full "Long John and the Silver Beatles" from 1960.
With Paul Ramon and Carl Harrison

Holly Hobbs hair and beard looking fire in this video 👊🏼🔥
Loving this video (this is Jedidiah btw)
There was this poster once featuring " The Savage Young Beatles ", it seems so funny now.
Nice work as always, sir!
Amazing video accompanied by amazing hair 10/10
You should do a video on The Songs Lennon and McCartney Gave Away!
This video was about Beatles hair do/cutting history.
Mr. Billy Shears owns a hair saloon... has 4 co owners...
2:46 that's George Harrison not Paul Mccartney...
Great video (as usual).

Brylcreem is pronounced "BRILL-creem" - the y is pronounced as a short i.
The hairdresser quote was used the the spoof documentary The Rutles
In Cynthia lennons book a twist of lennon she stated the Beatles was from the french word The Beat thus Beatles
Good video
I read somewhere that Beatles stole a PA system from an auditorium they played before they had their own PA
JoPaGe 3. LOL. I had never heard that one. That's even worse than Nikki Sixx wanting to call Motley Crue "Cristmass"
I guess two Stones fans opened this video to dislike it...

What is your opinion on the Nowhere Boy film?
And Two Of Us! :)
I read that John Lennon got the name beat from Jack Kerouac . The term beat meant to be beaten and defeated.
Could you do fact videos about Beatles solo stuff like Wings?

Can someone explain the shirley reference?
Possibly from Mean Mr. Mustard. "His sister Pam" was originally "His sister Shirley"
@@prettyshinyspaghetti8332 Ah, that makes sense. Thank you
I doubt the veracity of the Crickets story as L&M were both fans of Buddy Holly, and the Crickets was the name of Holly's backing band.
