Bit unfair to give the lead singer all the credit, Keane are a band not a person, and this song was actually mostly written by Keane's keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley. If crediting any one individual for writing this song, it would be him.
This is the last song I was playing with my mother in the car, going shopping, she passed on Nov 27, and I cry when I hear this. I play it so I can release some of my grief & sadness, but yet it comforts me and I feel my mom riding along with me wherever I go. She was 88, and I miss her so much
@@cindykenny3296 this would be a hurtful pain for someone who lost their mother in childhood, according to global estimates, around 3-4% of children world wide experience loss of a parent before the age of 18 and you're among them..😢💔
Amazing, i can't figure out how Tom Chaplin can sing as he does over the years and the quality of his voice remains incredible. He is one of the most under-rated singers in the world.
Lyrics - I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river and it made me complete Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm gettin' old, and I need something to rely on So, tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm gettin' tired, and I need somewhere to begin I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of? Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm gettin' old, and I need something to rely on So, tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm gettin' tired, and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute, why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So, why don't we go Somewhere only we know? Somewhere only we know Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So, tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute, why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? Oh! What a gift...Voices should degrade as time passes but his just gets better. He is so comfortable with the songs he sings and with every passing moment the interpretations simply become more sublime. Really one of the greatest vocalists of the time in which we live.
I loved this song by Keane back in the day, an absolute cracker! Put it together with an orchestra and it is truly sublime. Thank you Tom, and the BBC Orchestra for this rendition, it is truly wonderful. Chapeau!!
One of the few songs that really touches my soul and basically applies to all of us, because ultimately we are all looking for that little bit of happiness..
Absolutely amazing. Can't express my admiration enough for these musicians. I don't think I've seen a conductor enjoy a piece of music as much as this...she was really rocking out.
