Skoda produces some excellent cars and the Superb is a brilliant example of them. Skoda Australia not so great to deal with if your car has problems, but these are well made and reliable so hopefully no problems. Thanks for an excellent review, and hope you enjoyed the trip to Germany to test this car.😊
Hey matt, lucky you in Germany this time, have fun, i’ve gotta say Skoda seems like they’re stepping up the game now, this looks really good, for some reason the front reminds me of a BMW 🤷♂️ I’ve gotta say the interior looks really good
Great review Matt These have always been a brilliant vehicle So roomy and comfortable etc Used to have these as a company car I love the wagon Pity we don’t get diesel or a Cross Country wagon in Australia anymore
@@therightcar Yes Scout, not CC ! ( that’s Volvo ) The 2 litre diesel with 147 kw / 400 nm Would be perfect.. Torque & fantastic economy… I’d much rather this, than an SUV. The higher riding Scout, makes speed humps and driveways etc, much easier.
I noticed Matt from Car Sauce was also in Germany reviewing the same car. Do they fly journalists there for these things? Pay accommodation even? I just wouldn't have thought it economical is all. Looks like a cool car btw.
Hey mate - yep, they do fly us over and pay for the accommodation. It’s the only way this sort of content can happen, and I know some people think there is an unethical element to it - but you can rest assured, I will always say it how it is when it comes to the cars I’m testing, no matter where I drive them.
I wonder why Diesel is dead in Oz. I'd ALWAYS prefer a diesel over a petrol car (unless it's a hybrid, maybe). PS: As a half-German, I can assure you that the roads in Bavaria aren't representative of all the roads in Germany. ;-) Many are just as bad as the ones in Oz.
Yeah, I’d have a diesel over many alternatives, too. But I do distance, and the DPF systems are troublesome for urban drivers. Haha yeah we came across some average patches of road here and there!
A pleasant review to watch. Laura is a voice assistant! Confusingly enough, they also used the same name for the Indian sibling of Octavia. Nice that you spent so much time with the Smart Dials. I haven't seen a single review that would be critical - and maybe not even a non-enthusiastic one. Why doesn't the VW Group put it in every damn unit they make?
Skoda should definitely introduce the 1.5 eTSI version, as our market always needs an affordable European car product. Also, when EV sales slow down, ensuring the petrol models "do their bits" to reduce the average fleet CO2 emissions will be crucial to avoid the NVES penalty from late next year. According to Skoda UK, the 1.5 eTEC (aka the eTSI for Volkswagen) has a combined CO2 emission at around 127g/km (WLTP cycle), which is pretty good and enough for the brand to cope with the NVES requirements for at least 2 years.
There's a certain type of person who buys a wagon, and that certain type of person will be very happy with one of these. Bare in mind, for the same price (and with some change left), you can buy a fully loaded Triton, Amarok V6, Hilux, pretty much a bunch of SUVS with much bigger engines as well. Just saying! If its $50-55k, yeah i'd get one but not at the price they're currently at.
U r comparing totally different types of vehicles ! This is not a commercial vehicle It’s a refined passenger vehicle. The utility vehicles have an open tray. Hilux and Amarok easily cost same as this IE - approx $ 70 k
I hear your thought process and for someone who just has “a budget”, then sure, cross-shopping a wagon and a dual-cab makes sense. But really, you’re either buying a wagon or you’re not.
hello matt, can you tell me why you reviewers persist with using litres for boot storage?it means fk all to anyone, put the rear seats down and tell us in inches how long the load length is...yes inches youve heard of them. cheers matt well done on trip to deutschland
How well does the Superb compare to the last of the VF2 COMMODORE SPORTS WAGONS? 2017 THAT'S the burning question for us, Holden fans. Will it be a suitable replacement?
Skoda is too expensive and given the depreciation in Australia of the Euro cars, unless you love it so much and intend to keep it, Japanese and South Korean options win
I have owned both Japanese and Euro cars, you are right to some extent, depreciation on Euro cars are not so bad as some people make it out to be. I think life is too short to drive boring cars 🙂
Took too long to come to Australia. I have just put a deposit on a Mamba Green Octavia RS 2024. Yes some people are still looking for wagons!!!
Go the wagon! Haha love it mate
I'm one of those people who think wagons are a great solution.
@@petercrawford3370 they are THE solution!!!

Long live wagons!!
Looks superb, I really like this model.
I see what you did there.

Agree. A diesel in Scout spec is a dream machine for me!

@therightcar thanks mate, all good I was just curious how it works. Did they make you guys share a room? Matt looks like a doona hog to me.
I hope the head room in the rear passenger seats has improved. At 6.2 foot my head hit the roof of the previous model.

You angling for a job in product planning for Skoda with this kind of sensible argument? 🙌
$55-60k would be better. What a great looking wagon and liftback car 💯
Thanks for your thoughts!
Not a BEV. Sold!
Haha!
@@therightcarfyi I have a 2019 Skoda Karoq. So I was only half joking.
that diesel varient you were driving was enticing until the petrol was the only one offered
Great looking car but I’d go for the slightly smaller Octavia

Not sure why you would go here when the RS Octavia wagon is doing it all already
I hear you. AWD, more power, but at what cost??

Why drive a bad handling commercial vehicle when you can buy one of these?
Another great review Matt. I’m sure the 5 people who buy station wagons in 2025 will shortlist it.😅
I bet! Hahaha

Like all VW products... wonderful till the warranty runs out.
Will VAG be viable in 5 years ?
At least you get 7 years warranty with Skoda. Sell it after six.
7 years
Unlimited kms..
Great warranty.
Sell it after 5 or 6 years if u r worried about having it longer.

The ugly sewage vents on the dash is a single reason i would never buy this.
It will collect hard to remove dust.
