I absolutely LOVE how you became the "wet saw", standing on the tile and squirting water on the tiles while he cut them! Brilliant! It looks AMAZING!!!! The layout/cuts look GREAT!!! I would have loved to seen her reaction when she got home.
I just love your videos! Everything you do looks professional and looks like you know what you’re doing. Know one will know how much you put into your new home but you two will and never underestimate yourself because you are damn good at what you have done so far! Good luck and hope to see much more in the future! Take care 😉
Looks good. Yes, you should have used more thinset and even put some on the back of the tiles first. But since this isn't an area you'll be walking on you should be okay. Just keep that in mind for floor tiles next time. I think you could also leave that crack where the rock meets. It shouldn't be that noticeable once the stove is in place. But grout or even a high heat grout-caulk would fill it in easy enough. Stay with your plan, your budget, and do what you want. Those telling you what you should be doing can earn that right by first sending a donation large enough to fund the project they want to see done.
Hey there the fire place is looking really good I could hear you huffing and puffing lol but you know you have done a grand job even them beautiful dogs agree love the colour take care 👍👍👋👋
Looks very nice. The color goes with the environment you live in. The chortling , that sounded like my husband and I 😆🤣😆🤣 things just happen in life & we deal with it. 👍
Hello guys. I’m playing catch up. I think the house looks great. The tile looks good also. I’m sure you will like it better once you have all of it completed and your decorations and furniture in place. You will both me so happy with all the work you put into this house in the end. Can’t wait to see it all done. ❤. Take care.
I think you did an amazing job for never doing it before, you’re a natural Craig. Love watching you finish your cabin your way, who cares what others like, it’s y’all’s. How’s the cabin in Tennessee coming along? Could you post some pics maybe? As always stay safe and look forward to the next one ❤
Yes, a course notched trowel would have been better, but you gotta work with what you have, and we understand that! Also, back buttering the floor tile too, but it should hold. All in all, a nice job for your first time!😊
Great day to work inside for sure The tile looks lovely as does the wall good work Craig love it!, Going to give the area such a warm cozy feeling once the trim is around and the wood stove is placed , Not a thing wrong with how it looks , Your too hard on yourself . In Nature each stone , each rock face has a mix of shades and color , the wall and floor title looks perfect .
Not a pro, but wondering if wall stone is too porous to grout? That is, will you be able to wash off the excess as you can with the smooth floor tile? Perhaps test the grout process on some small wall stone scraps to make sure it works. If not, you can go with the colored caulk as suggested by another. Loved the video and hearth looks super.
I think you did an awesome job my friend ! I will look great once you set the stove in place, DIY as long as your happy it's good :) I had put mine in in a hurry & never finished it yet just to many project but one day :) I really like what you done there 👍, I'm just slowly getting back at my siding as my fingers feel better,
My husband always said 'he didn't know how he got home from work on his own'. If he got talking with the workers going to lunch - he would stop at the green light & go when the light turned red. My husband worked for this company for years in this city - he would catch himself going the wrong directions on a one way. I agreed with him - I didn't know how he got home. Your wife was pointing out the right way the spacer went...I tiled the kitchen walls & the bathroom floor - 1st time tiler...I found it so easy except for the cuts - that is what my husband did - I also laid the wood flooring the 1st time ever - sometimes if you over think it .... I lack confidence on a lot of things...you both working as a team are doing a great job
I love your inspector lol the only thing is you didn’t back butter the tiles. No one going to walk on it so it should be fine. Putting up the wall put plenty on back.
I’m gonna give you a little tough love if you don’t mind ……….. quit saying you don’t know how to do something. You have done a fine job on this project but you keep saying you don’t know how to do something …. I enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work. Tiny ( Len Price ) Houston MS
You don't need a deeper towel. It needs to be held straight up. Just put it on thick then pull your grooved trowel holding it straight up. That'll give you deep grooves. Not criticism just a tip. I had to be told also.
Just wondering..every tile job I ever did..I would use a notched trowel and make lines in the thin set before installing..is that a different kind of thin set that doesn't require that...nice job though
We just didn’t have one with the big notches. Ours were small shallow ones. I’m not too concerned since it won’t be walked on. The wood stove will just be sitting there so it shouldn’t be a problem.
The dogs are great! I love when one comes for a cuddle and scratch the others line up for their turn as well. A house just isn’t a home without a dog.
No it isn’t 🐾 🤎
I absolutely LOVE how you became the "wet saw", standing on the tile and squirting water on the tiles while he cut them! Brilliant! It looks AMAZING!!!! The layout/cuts look GREAT!!! I would have loved to seen her reaction when she got home.
Thank you very much!

You do amazing work, even if you haven’t done it before! Love it
Nice

That is really really nice, very very pretty! Can't wait to see the stove back in place, you did a great job!
Yes, we’re just waiting for it to stop raining so we can get it painted.
No worries over what other people think
The colors are great. So many dark hearths. Its refreshing seeing something light colored.
I think the tile work looks great. The colors are really nice, and with the wood stove on the hearth and the trim work, it'll look amazing.
Thanks 😊

Thanks so much. It didn’t turn out quite like we’d envisioned but we got the trim up around the top and sides and it does look better.
Love the hearth. Looks great. I like that you went with a lighter color. Opens up the room. Awesome✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️
Thanks so much 😊
You needed also to back butter the big tile.
Forget what everyone else says. You go with your plan and your money. We'll watch. Your home is really looking great.

Thanks so much. I’ll get my sister to give us a video tour and get an update posted on their Tennessee cabin.
Are you sure you have never laid tile before , since the tile and wall looks very professional …great job..Love your channel ❤️
@@richardlechtrecker9083 thank you 😊

For your first time 😊 looks great 👍. For someone that said this is my first time you did a bang-up job.
Thank you! 😊
Looks fantastic it looks like a professional did it 💯
Wow, thank you!
It is looking really good. Once the stove is out in place it will blend in. 🌹😊

For the wall tile corner, you might want to find a similar colored caulk to fill the corner gap. Much cleaner than trying to grout it.
Sounds like a good idea!
You two are hilarious!!! 😂 Love the video!
Thank you!! 😁
Tile looks good
Thanks!
It’s nice and pretty the tiles. If unsure about stuff Go on UA-cam there are a tonne of videos on how to do stuff. Easier and do at your own pace. 😊
You did a great job on the fireplace. Looks great.
For a first time tile setter you did a great job. Remember to put some sealer on the stone walls before grouting it so that clean up will be easier.
Your little cabin home is going to be fantastic when y'all are done ❤🫶 gorgeous tile picks
Thank you 😊
I think you did a fine job on the tile. Don't be so hard on yourself.

This type doesn’t require grout, making it much easier.
I meant the corner you mentioned you would grout…
@@sallyberry4456 oh, I see yes. We’ll do some trials before we put it on the wall. If it is too porous to clean we probably will just use the caulk.
Hello Craig and Chandra, the tile job looks great, it turned out nicely, you did a good job. Hope you enjoy all your future fires.
Thanks John!

the key is to not skimp on the thinset layer. For "Homesteaders" your putting together a fine looking place.
The fireplace looks amazing 🇬🇧😊
Thank you. I love it!
Great job!!! Looks great and the cabin is coming along nicely!!

Looks good. Can’t wait to see what’s next!!
Trawl needs 1/4" "V" groves to put down the thin set.
