The R62As that come from the 7 line are dead to me i want the r142a back on the 6 train
idk, R62s don't exactly work for CBTC.
Also the 6 have had R142As for what? 10 years? The 7 has only had like 4.
I don't ride the 7, and I have no ill will against the 6, but the people on the 7 line should get to have the newer cars as well.
The R62As that "were" on the 7 are actually from the Westchester yard and ran on the 6 line from 1985 to the early 2000s, while the 7 had the Redbirds during that period. When the R142A came in service on the 6 line the R62As were transfered to the Corona Yard and replaced the Redbirds, and were running on the 7 until now, now those R62As are coming back to their home at the Westchester Yard, while the R142As are being converted to R88s to be part of the CBTC

Tahamid Jabul Why? You do realize that with this swap of cars, everyone stands to benefit, as there will be extra service on all IRT Lines, since there is a surplus of cars coming onto the 6 line.

The cars had a red under there car number. Doesn't that mean there supposed to be on the 123 line?
It was, it was just transfered to the Corona Yard for some reason. I've seen some Railfanners say that those R62A subway cars had some accident and never returned into service, since they fixed it so they just transfer it to the 7
I think I know how they make a R62A go to/from 6 and the 7 line.
1) - Go through Concourse Yard from the IRT Jerome Line.
2) - Next, go into IND Concourse Line.
3) - Go via the (D) line south to Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center.
4) - Then, switches end and goes via the (N) line to Queensboro Plaza.
5) - Last, they switch to the IRT northbound Flushing Line track which goes to Corona Yard.
I think they should make a track connection from the Steinway Tube to the IRT Lexington Ave LIne.
Yeah that a good idea but it just means money and they have to destroy the Street to work on the Tunnel.

That's why the r62as now have red strips under the number train car

The R62A with the red strips was originally singed to the one, color stripes used to dictate what line the train belongs to. The 7 needed more trains so an extra 5-car R62A set from the 1 was taken and retrofitted with LED signs to serve the Flushing Line.

TheOnlyDerpyMustache The Station it was passing through was built for wider IND and BMT trains, not for narrow IRT trains.

Keep the R62 cars on the 7 and the R142/142A/188 on the 6.
Robert James Jr Why? Do you even know that this swap happened to allow for automation of the Flushing Line, which will allow for more trains along the line? Do you even care about your needs or the needs for millions of commuters in Flushing, Corona, Jackson Heights, Woodside, Sunnyside, and Long Island City, and even in Bus-dependent Eastern Queens who take the 7 line each and every day and stand to benefit from CBTC and R142A and R188 cars?
@@TheRailLeaguer Lol, The Lexington Avenue will receive Better trains then the R188, Lexington Avenue line will recieve R262 for CBTC anyways but it will take time. R262 look cooler then the R142A or R188. Like why should people argue that they get R62A on the 6. They'll recieve newer trains for CBTC on the Lex Ave Line. :)

It will have to happen at some point before CBTC is put into operation full time
They definitely won't make it to 2018 this is the last year they will be seen on 7
