It was 2020, with Covid going on we weren't even sure the race was going to happen, but they made it happen. I was so glad they decided to race, we all needed it that year, something to feel good about. And then it ended up being a hell of a race. I will never forget this stage, Primoz looked poised to possibly win the GC leading into the TT with a solid gap in time, and then watching it slowly slip away. And that final moment of him coming into the finish, his helmet pushed up, he looked completely spent. The Tadej that we now know, was incarnated in this TT.
Pogacar essentially won it on his own. Compare the performance and ability of his UAE team (that disintegrated) vs. the insane Jumbo-Visma team around Roglic. The better rider won.
I thought Froomes downhill breakaway within last 20km I think, and he did the tuck that is now banned I believe, was 1 of my Favourite stage watch, and a few Pogy, jonas stages are great also, 🏁🚴♂️🗯💨
I'm a Pogacar fan, but I wasn't over joyed how he beat Roglic in last stage(TdF 2020) which was a time trial, I'm not keen on Roglic but he rode well that tour and had it snatched away like that, a stage is a stage I suppose, but it would never of happened if it wasn't a ITT
Tough cookies. Look at the team around Roglic vs. the UAE team that disintegrated around Pogacar. He essentially won the Tour on his own - remarkable. Better rider won.
Primoz is a more accomplished TT rider than Pog is. He even has an Olympic gold to back it up. He just had a bad day. If he is healthy and can complete the tour without any major crashes, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes out on top ahead of Pog. He may just even beat Jonas if Jonas is not fully recovered from that horrific crash.
@LeeLee-fi7mx What? Are you getting Joe Bidens drugs? Roglic was absolutely underwhelming in the dauphine, just sat on, couldn't drop anyone himself, was lucky that final stage wasn't 2 k's longer! Pog was in cruise mode for the last week of the Giro, and is in monster form. Even a fully fit Vinegar wouldn't cope with Pog in this sort of form. Vinegar without WVA for the last 2 tours would not have won, as simple as that. Pog can drop Roglic, Primoz cannot drop Pog, just plain fact.
Let's be factual, Eddy Merckx is a cycling great, Fausto Coppi is a cycling great, Bernard Hinault is a cycling great, Alfredo Binda is a cycling great, Jaques Anquetil is a cycling great. Neither of these 2 are in the same category, therefore they are NOT cycling greats. Stop with the overdone superlatives.
Not true. You can actually put Pog there just because he is so dominating on GC and monuments. If Pogi wins this year TdF he will overtake Binda for me. He is on trajectory to become top3 all time great with Hinault and Eddy at the end of his career.
@fangru7294 Not even close! Binda won 5 Giro, and was PAID not to race one year. As to Merckx, Coppi, Hinault, Pog won't get there, Merckx stands supreme as the greatest athlete ever, and remember, Coppi lost 4-5 of his best years due to ww2. I will say Pog is the first Grand Tour winner in a long time to actually race and win classics! He is definitely the best around at the moment, but definitely not up there with "The Greats"
@aaronpauldagdagan2775 not even close. For a start how many Sixes has he ridden, let alone won, Merckx has won over 20! Merckx won every classic except paris Tours, and the defunct Bordeaux Paris. Coppi lost 4-5 years due to WW2!
@@markhill9275 That just your opinion. So what he won 5 Giro? I would take 3x TdF and 1x Giro over that anyday. So what he was paid not to race. Who cares? Pog crashed and could not be in form for TdF but it does not matter. Same with Coppi. You just cant compare circumstances because it will be based on biasy anyway. Compare wins and achievements. As for Hinault and Merckx, he definitely can overtake Hinault if he keeps winning because he rides Classics better than him. As for Merckx I said I do not think he will overtake him but it could happen if he is lucky enough.

3rd or 4th definitely incredible because they are both Slovenian and before them Slovenians couldn't even dream about top 10 at tour de France
3:06 The stone faces of WVA and Tom Dom......LMFAO. They knew.
Truly iconic moment, and career-defining. I think it also ignited more interest in cycling.

this year’s last stage being a time trial might cause another comeback like this
Stages in Nice will be so fantastic, but we'll had evenepoel and of corse vingegaard too
Lol not at all
Lol. 😂

So? He should have driven quicker

Pogacar is already a cycling great. He’s on GOAT trajectory in fact😂
