Am I the only person kinda appreciate the one-handability that zfold 4 offers when closed?

Me too! Maybe, just maybe 3mm wider, but not more. Most people miss the point on the outer screen of a foldable, it's supposed to be a one hand friendly user experience when closed and a great inner foldable screen for productivity when opened. People, if you want a normal wide front screen when closed, why bother buying a foldable (and I mean the Pixel Fold is only 5.8", pretty small by today standards).
Nope. Love the cover display on the Fold 4… it’s one of my favorite things about the phone.
I feel that angle is overplayed as I rarely use my £1800 device one-handed! Even my S23U I use it 99% two-handed when interacting as I have dropped phones before, the P7P lately, and they are expensive to fix (Pixel cost £250 for a new display)!
@amfrepo but if you have both hands free, why not just open it to use the inner screen? At last 90% of the time, I would open my fold 4 if I want to use both hands, it's not like I don't have two seconds to waste for unfolding the phone and folding it back after use.
Since I'm not buying this phone to use the cover display i will stick with the Z fold 4 , better software experience . Looking forward to Z fold 5 .

I actually like the narrower outside screen for one handed use. Yeah the typing sucks, but whenever I want to type I just unfold it. When I used my Note 20U I had to balance it on my finger tips everytime. Can't imagine what a thicker phone with the same width would be like.
You already own the z fold 5. Little to no improvements. Just slightly thinner and a new hinge since samsung thinks doing the hinge over ever year is a noteworthy update.
Having used them both I just prefer the feel in hand and usability of the Pixel Fold. That cover display width changes everything.
Too bad the software is crap and Google will abandon it in a year.
I prefer the s23 ultra I have , for me fold phones are excessive when I also have the tab s 8

I'm sticking with the ZFold4 for sure.. From the sound of ZFold5, I might not make the jump..ZFold4 in my opinion checks all MAJOR boxes for me except the smaller front display.. other than that, The small bezels in the ZF4 is where the Deal breaker is for me with the Pixel Fold. It also look like multi trading in the Zfold4 is more Ideal too... That camera bump on the pixel Fold doesn't do it for me either.. Only reason I ordered the Pixel Fold is because I have to at least see it in my hand, try it out for a coyote of days and 99.99% chance, it's going to be returned. Will not cost me much to try it out(just a $50 VZW restocking fee).
Edit.. I actually just canceled my pixel fold order after viewing this video . Saving myself the $50 restocking fee😂

ZFold3...The gap in the fold is a non-issue for me. I would like the ZFold to feel more like the S series, while folded.

Great review. I've been asking the same question, what does the Google Fold do that other foldables don't? The answer to that is, other than the Google experience and a different form factor, not much. In my view, the Z Fold is best for power users with its ability to truly multitask, availability of the S-pen, and Samsung Dex. The Pixel Fold seems more suited for those who use their phone for communication and social media, which is how most people use their phones, probably making it the better choice for most.
Good summation.
The Samsung Folds are not really for the core market as most people that can afford $1800 phones have other devices. The Pixel Fold is for people that will use the outside display 60-70% of the time and only use the inner display for specific use cases. That is what I will do (mine arrives today). I will do a little split-screen, just a bigger display means larger font for reading and less eye strain.
I think an important point this misses is simply the fact that it's releasing at all. There are some amazing foldables on the market in China, but in western markets, this is the first real competitor to Samsung. Competition is always good for the consumer, and even though I likely won't get a pixel fold, I'm very happy it's coming. From all the leaks, it looks like Samsung is getting way too comfortable being on top. The z fold 5 is looking like a very small change from the 4, and I'd wager that's a least partially to do with them getting complacent.

The fold 4 already the ultimate flex. Even with all its so called complaints the crease, the gap, the skinny outer display. Man please that crease is so unnoticeable and it doesn't effect anything about the phone. The gap idgf that it has .08 gap who really cares. The skinny display is actually somthing i enjoy i actually use the outter display wqy more the the inner but when i need its there. Then you add in Dex its basically a laptop. Not even sure if I need another phone for while. Now when or if they add the pen inside and let write on the cover display its probably gonna be the perfect phone.
I bought it for media. Plain and simple. And I will not go back!!!!!! All the years wasted.
Still rocking 😎 the z fold 2 and thank God no issues. Still have all the accessories ✨️ That came with it. Now the only thing u get is the phone in the box 📦 🙄.

Yeah, I agree! Is that form factor. The wider front screen is just ergonomically correct, than you can just open it for the larger display. Where the Samsung outer display is almost really just for notifications and maybe checking your inbox, etc. But am glad Samsung finally has some competition and consumers have options. I like the one handability of the z-fold 4 when it's closed. And I also like that it's taller when it's open. It seems easier to use as well cuz it's not so wide in the hand
It's just hard to compare a phone that just came out to the phone that's been out a year. We will find out more of a better comparison when the galaxy Fold 5 comes out. Can't wait to see that video.

I've loved to get my hands on the pixel fold, since the pixel experience alone makes it worth it, but alas it's not available in my country so I got the fold 4, which I'm loving so far, and I'm hearing that the performance and battery is a bit better so I'm pretty satisfied.
I have both phones and deciding which one to keep or use. Wanted to see others opinions and I love your video and coverage. The camera color is far better on the pixel, lady in the z fold looks orange and not natural at all. The mic is so interesting. While stationed the pixel picks up more background noise as I can hear the cars drive by which on the z fold is less but when walking around with the cover display, the pixel did a better job on background noise. You nailed the decision factor, when you use the outside screen 5% of the time versus 60% the experience is becomes night and day. Especially when you have dust everytime you open the because of the gap. I love my samsung devices but when it comes to the fold I would pick the pixel.
Any issues with the crease on the Pixel?

That cover display on the pixel is perfect.....Its the only plus point it has over the fold 4.
Multitasking on the fold 4 is better with the option of having 4 plus apps open as opposed to only 2 on the pixel...

Fold4/5 - better multitasking aspect ratio of inner screen, 2 tiers better speakers, better software, better/stronger CPU, brighter screen, better inner display cover near hinge (pixel takes in dust), one handed typing on front screen
I personally think the cover display is too wide and short on the pixel fold. I think I'll try out the pixel fold but I'm pretty sure I'll stick with the fold 4. And Google software will eventually upset me I'm pretty sure, can't risk it.
Great video. I've been waiting to see how these two stack up against each other. The Pixel Fold seems really impressive and has me intrigued. But I just don't see enough to make me want to give up my Z Fold 4. If I had any other smartphone I would probably give the Pixel Fold a look. But as it stands now, I'm gonna bold out and see what's up with the Z Fold 5.
That's fair. Z fold is a few years ahead of course and has been updated pretty well. I'm not big on Samsung coming from a iPhone since the 4s I'm making the switch with the fold
@albertbolanos8794 The Pixel Fold looks like it's gonna be a nice one. And I am tempted. But I want to see how the Z Fold 5 stacks up before I make a decision. I was all about Google and the Nexus line for a long time. Then I became a big fan of the Note line. And I guess the natural progression for me was to go to the Z Fold series. Samsung has come a long way since the TouchWiz days.
@@HENRYGAUL touch wiz was horrible back in the day. The note line is the only Samsungs I’ve ever used the 10 being the last I tried. My only dislike back then was the smoothness of the faces on then cameras and blur on moving objects such as children. Google has a long way to go of course but definitely like where they are going.

You probably should correct the part where you the Samsung fold 4 had a triple 12 megapixel camera setup. The main camera is 50 megapixels and it was the main improvement from the last gen folds

The camera placement should be more towards the mid/side center (symmetry needs to change) with this form factor.
Love the pixel fold camera video quality though how smooth it is it's almost as smooth as a 4K hdr movie it's amazing 🔥

I much prefer the Google pixel fold also for the reasons you mention, great review as well.
The only thing that I'm nervous about with the pixel fold is the opened design makes it harder to use a pop socket as a stand.
The craziest part is the cover and internal display's mic and quality. Pixel is much louder and sounds better.

Very thin, but quite heavy right? I hear much heavier than Fold4. That's a big deal for something you will use as a folding tablet for watching movies or playing games.

Interesting critique , what was missing was battery size and usage comparison. Plus does the pixel offer the ability to change the displays, i.e., cover being different from internal. You might want two different looks.
The battery life on the pixel fold is not good. Some testing have had 4 hours and that's with them using the front display so would be less with the inside display

That pixel fold audio is astounding during videos
i like the pixel wider screen but the fold 4 you get more for your money plus its comparing the pixel to last years z fold. few months the z fold 5 will be out which now closes completely and they got rid of the crease down the fully. plus from what i seen the pixel fold doesnt force scretch apps to use the inside screen. alot of black screen on the sides. its a great first fold for them and excited to see what the pixel fold 2 will bring.

I'm with you on this one, putting the two side by side, the pixel fold looks like it was released in 2017🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, if it was anything like the oppo I would have loved it but even at that, I still love the fold more than oppo so I don't think I would have chosen the google anyways.

Even with the launch of the Pixel Fold, I’m going with the ZFold 5. Can’t beat Samsung Dex with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and RDP or Windows boot.
It's about the software and that exclusive Pixel software features that makes this device, if you are used to using these, like myself, it's a Pixel all day, unfortunately for me Google has decided to exclude Australia from a local release, so I'll probably have to import one

@@NizarNoor true that is a bit tricky, I've used a service from Apple Big Buddy previously, to import a Surface Duo, a few years ago that device didn't get a local release DownUnder 🇦🇺, it's expensive task, I still have the Duo, use it alongside my Pixel 7 Pro, warranty would be the only major issue of a import
Im on the wait-list for Apple Big Buddy, I'll probably just get one through them.

The Z Fold 4 has the best speakers I've ever had on a phone so I thought when I first purchased it. Anyways just wait for the z fold 5 to come out. That phones going to be a beast!
The horrible battery life is a deal breaker for me. I wanted to like this phone but I need 6-7 hr screen on time guaranteed and reviewer are saying this thing taps out at a lil over 4hrs and it also has bad stand by battery life
It takes 2-3 weeks for the adaptive battery software to kick in. I saw a reviewer that had had it for 5 weeks and he said he is now getting 6-7 hours SOT. Most reviewers are using the camera non-stop so you should not take them seriously unless you spend an hour plus doing video and photos per day. Everyone I see comparing it to Fold4 says it beats that in battery life!
@@andyH_Englandit's a pixel it won't get better lol . The pixel 7 series faces a new battery drain issue with every other update...this is using the same chip while powering a much bigger brighter display you're setting yourself up for failure thinking it'll magically double battery life over time
I have pixel 7 pro and it gets 6 to 7 hours SOT .I drive trucks daily and use navigation every day and i ususally don't charge it till i get home which is after 14 to 15 hours on most days. If most people have jobs of some sort. i don't see them being on their phone 6 to 7 hours daily. No work is getting done if they are 🤣
What about inner screen not opening full i.e. not making 180 deg flat surface? Is it fine with you…
I don't think any phone manufacturer has perfected the demensions yet. The Fold 4 has a cover screen that's a bit too narrow but the inner screen is perfect, while the Pixel Fold seems to have nailed the outer screen but the inner screen needs work.

Id say techno pantom v is the right aspect ratio while the pixel folds asoect ratio I'd say it kinda feels oldly short and I did wish it was a bit taller, the zfold is too tall and this is the nice in between, the zfold id say is the best foldable in the market its just about perfect when comparing to other foldable, the onoy major complain i have is the form factor like its an okay tablet but basically a tv remote when folded imagine putting that against your ears looks like your using a tv remote as a toy phone to talk to people, even the sony xperia smartphones feels like a tv remote and zfold being more narrow
Open up the Z Fold 4 and turn it sideways and it does what the Google Pixel does minus the Outdated thick Bezels. I don't mind the Bezels being thick if that 8 megapixel Camera was a 12 megapixels camera. But it beats Samsung 4 megapixels camera that is under a screen which means 4 megapixels looks like 2 megapixels.
I've owned the zfold 2 3 4....one of my biggest complaints is the front screen, Samsung could eliminate it and I wouldn't miss it...its too narrow to be useful (for me). Not sure I'll do first gen google, but it checks alot of boxes for me!

It is obvious that foldables should have almost as much access to the outer display as the inner display. Samsung must bring the height down and spread the size a little bit for users to enjoy the outer display.

Love the design of the Pixel Fold. That aspect ratio, and the lack of proper upgrades to the Galaxy Fold, were some of the reasons I moved to the Duo 2.

for me, I'll pick the fold 4 cos I feel like most UA-camrs are forcing the pixel fold to be better when it's actually worse, the compromise is too many for me to choose the pixel fold, I'll have to give up the s-pen which is the main reason I bought the z fold in the 1st place over the s23 ultra, I'll lose the one-handed useability of the cover screen of the z fold which I loved and preferred, an inferior chip cos I game a lot, an inferior fold software I mean way too inferior, outside the typing advantage that the cover screen of the pixel gives you, I feel like using social media apps would be worse, take Instagram for example, I would not be able to view a full video or picture at once because of the short aspect ratio while on the z fold, I can almost see two posts a glance. I feel like the pixel fold is a worse folding form factor, in my opinion, no offenses.

Great video. I've been using the Galaxy Fold as a backup phone but the front display kept it from being my main phone. My pixel fold arrives tomorrow. Hoping to use it full time. Can you use the app bar if you are suing a third party launcher?

@@Mob3tta_01 but how is the zf4's outer screen too narrow? You can type comfortably if you expand the front screen keyboard, you can increase your font on your front screen which makes everything a different experience, you can optimize your videos to fit your front screen without any headaches or lost of quality, you can use multi-split screen comfortably and you can do all of this without having hand fatigue.

Biggest drawback with pixel fold is problematic landscape design.
1. Most apps we used are portrait apps which don't scale properly to landscape orientation. Even if Google came up with a full screen hack (like zfold) stretching these portrait apps to a landscape screen will look extremely horrible. Don't forget, current zfold full screen hack is to go fullscreen in portrait screen.
2. With pixel fold there is the hassle of needing to rotate the screen to portrait if you don't want half the screen area being wasted by letter boxing. Not to mention, the need to rotate again to close the fold.
3. Even those apps with having landscape view support are not always optimum either as the fold is not a 10 inch tablet. These landscape optimized apps use half the screen to display main content (which is less than what you get on a candy bar phone). Even the UA-cam app is better in portrait. It gives you a big size video on the top half and you can read comments below. In landscape view, video size is much smaller unless you go into fullscreen (which means you can't see comments at the same time).
4. When pixel fold screen is rotated to portrait (most usage scenario), having the crease on the horizontal is way MORE distracting than on vertical. When vertical content scrolls over the horizontal crease you will see the constant waviness/distortion which makes you feels like you gonna get seasick. And the horizontal crease will much more visible as the crease is at an angle to your eyes when you are holding the phone in portrait.
5. Even multi-window split view is worse than zfold. After deducting the status bar and app header and bottom bars, pixel fold has a short vertical area for content.
In conclusion, Pixel fold sacrifices the inner screen and everything else for a SLIGHTLY better cover screen typing only. Totally stupid imo.
Z fold 4 user here . Still like zfold 4 better . And samsung store and service center already all over the world .
I Love To Emulate retro games up to N64 on my z fold 3 and it looks better on my zfold3 than my $329.00 Dedicated Emulation Box Even When Hooked Up To My 4K Projector .

People keep saying it feel like a reg phone . If inwanted a reg phone i would just buy a reg phone. I like a one hand experience. Giggty then when u need a bigger ill just open it cause it dont matter how big the ouside acreeen is ima be having it on open mostly. Just give me a bigger inner screen

There's a few things missing in the comparison. Yes he said about the gaming but should have shown some benchmarks since a lot of people want to play top tier gaming. This comparison is going to be outdated in a few months anyway with the z fold 5.
The battery life. From comparisons I have seen. One claims after a week of testing the pixel fold lasted them 4 hours on screen time and that was mainly using the front display not the inner display which is bad. The fold 4 has a better battery. And with the z fold 5 with the upgraded chip it will do so much better.
Multi-tasking. One thing you missed. The pixel is limited to only 2 apps split screen. The z fold 4 can do 3.
When you want to change your wallpaper on your inner display if you change it on pixel fold it also copies it to the front screen which some people don't want. Whereas the z fold 4 does not.
If you are a content creator like myself I heavily doubt the pixel fold can video edit like the z fold 4. If you have samsung Dex alongside an editing program that can edit like lumia. I doubt pixel can do that. Plus as mention pixel fold does not have samsung Dex which is a game changer
Everything he missed was intention. He used to be very objective but for whatever reason he decided to risk his credibility and lost it. The same goes for Mr. Mobile who said "Google has laid the groundwork for the future of foldables" while he exactly knows there was not one new aspect added by Google . No idea what Google has paid them because otherwise you simply can't explain the behaviour.

For the epic. I really like the front display is bigger . I dont like the bezel on the inside. Samsung fold 4 i really live this phone. The only thing i don't like isbthe front display . I ended up using my iphone or open the fold 4. Just because i have to something quick. I give this opinion because i have fold 4 and iphone. Epic is catching up my attention. And is just for the front display. Im going tonwait a little bit on fold 5. Just to see what they offer or still makinfgthe same phone, just changing or moving around the cameras. Samsung works better you can optimize apps to fit your inner display plus you have 3 app split screen.
That can be fixed with software update and I agree the up to 3 apps is nice but not everyone uses that

There is no room for comparison..in fact, I did not work on the Pixel, but by owning the Fold for a period of more than six months, I became attached to it in everything, the greatest thing that Samsung offered was DeX mode ..tnx SAM
As a dude with little kids the cameras are pretty much everything for me, I'm on a pixel 7 now having come from a 6 (with a brief stint using the Flip 4) and it's made me realise how much I need solid flagship quality cameras. Problem is in the UK the fold is close to $2300 ... So that's just too rich for me, especially as I've noticed a big decline with the performance of my current and last Tensor devices, I think in 12 months time when prices start to drop these will be a compelling buy.
I would rather wait and get the upcoming Fold 5 or buy the Fold 4 with an additional discounted price.

Let's talk about the gap in foldable phones, and just how truly important it is: I have owned a Galaxy Z Fold 2 for around two years. During that time, I have noticed the gap when my phone is folded. Not. One. Single. Time.
I’m grabbing the Pixel Fold as soon as T-Mobile opens Pre-Orders. I’m not a fan of Samsungs image processing.
The Pixel fold is better in the aspect ratio and camera. But I will stick with my Z Fold 4 because of the software.
Very good video everyone trashes the g2 chip but like i have said before hands on side by side you cant even tell a difference and if you see benchmark specs its crazy how a g2 chip stacks up to better processor. Anti google people are the only ones who talk crap and never owned one. 💯 Waiting for my fold to get here in the morning

In my opinion the screen being wider in the inside you might as well just buy a tablet That's why I think the squarish shape of the Samsung fold is a little bit better especially in terms of aspect ratio because a lot of people who use Samsung Galaxy phone just turn it sideways when it's open anyway which makes it wider
The chicken looks tastier on Samsung zfold4 nice 'n' golden.
Still prefer the fold 4 feels and design

I was always the kind of guy who thought the Surface Duo 2 was better than the Z Fold since the Pixel Fold is closest to the Duo form factor the Pixel is obviously better.

@@MD-wz8uz What's so funny???? Duo 2 is easily the Best phone I ever used Especially after the Android 12L update. I also have a Fold 3 and Flip 4...Duo 2 crushes both of them in most situations. Go watch any Surface Duo 2 video in 2022 or 2023 and you'll see People love it...I know it sucked a lot in 2021 when it came out but since then Microsoft has been updating the hell out of it.
I would never even consider getting a Google Pixel Fold but it's literally the only phone in the US market close to the form factor of Surface Duo 2... And 1 of my Duo screens is cracked.
Z fold 5 should not thicken itself too much. Keep it slim

The Pixel is by far more natural you skin looks great on the Pixel and the Galaxy make the image darker.
Almost jumped... as fold 4 front screen is just too cramped... but no differentiation on pixel fold between front and interior screens for layout are baffling and a deal breaker.
