I am so glad it works for you! These three really take the sting out of a close shave! So many viewers are still getting irritation, but yet they haven't tried these three steps. Granted Razor and blade combination is a huge part of a good shave, but the post shave routine seems to be overlooked a lot.
I use that Nivea aftershave. My wife loves the smell of my sandalwood Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream, and the Nivea aftershave doesn't mask the sandalwood scent. I also like that it doesn't have alcohol. I need to try the alum block, though.
It sounds like you've got a great combo going with the sandalwood and Nivea! The alum block is definitely worth a try; it can really enhance your shaving experience.
A long time ago, I bought a styptic pencil for bleeding. I used it, and I couldn't believe how painful it was! Looking back, I don't think I wet it, I'm not sure if that would have made a difference. Would an alum block be as painful?
After shaving my head, I stand under the coldest water possible for a minute or two, dry off and then put on a small amount of Cetaphil cream. If you have sensitive skin this works wonders.
@@OhioShaves exactly what I was thinking.. I have been using the block then proraso aftershave lotion with balm after everything if I get some bad irritation.. That's why I want thayers for actually cooling that down and still getting some smelly goods after... Thanks again, enjoy the rest of your day.
Thayers is very nice! Instant relief if I get any irritation at all, very refreshing! Had to get the plain unscented but I'll try the original next time, thanks again for all your videos, very helpful and I've been DE shaving for years, just stopped for a while.. I have time now to enjoy my shave.
Thanks for the info!! Learnt everything i know about de shaving from you!! My question. What order do we apply? Im guessing alum bar, witch hazel, then nivea and aftershave lastly ?
I'm with you Dave. I use all three after every shave. Works great for me.

Alum blocks are much gentler on the skin.

Thanks for the reply!
If you're using aftershave, I recommend using some kind of moisturizer after since the alcohol in the after-shave can dry your skin out.
Great tip! I don't recommend alcohol in aftershave products. People with sensitive skin like myself the alcohol will cause redness

Great tip. Have you tried Thayers yet?
@@OhioShaves I haven't but I just bought a bottle of the unscented version and I'll be giving it a shot!
Do you use the thayers first then aftershave, or does thayers replace your aftershave splash?
I use it first. Much better with both. Make my face clear up so much
@OhioShaves thanks man, going to pick some up now, any recommendations for scent?
I like the original. Let your aftershave have a scent or cologne.
