Wicked video currently having the confidence to import because of this video and dealing with zervtek who are brilliant! Would recommend them highly! In term of chassis insurance when do you take that out when the vehicle is in transit?
Yes I did import through them I can't fault them, I just received the car about 2/3 weeks ago so just waiting to receive the v5 from DVLA. The car itself is in mint condition inside and out. Highly recommend them
Thanks dude, very informative. First my first time trying this and i just won a car early this morning. It’s a little surreal. I just put my maximum amount to bid up too and went to sleep. Couple hours later zervtek whasapped me saying contracts you won the bid 😮😂.. 2020 Subaru Levorg. I hope the rest of this purchase is as straightforward.
@@waynekitch Hi Wanye, purchase was fairly straightforward, but shipping much longer than expected (maybe my expectations we wrong). I brought in April.. and its just been shipped end June. Mine was in a queue waiting for a slot to be shipped out. Should arrive late September. Zervtek staff appear ok and legit, and answered my questions. So we will see how it all works out.
You don't need VIN insurance with the dox unless you live in Northern Ireland. If you do have VIN insurance you can drive it from the doc to the MOT perfectly legally. Probably cheaper than a trailer truck.
@@bodgemods5802 I don't think there are any restrictions on distance stated anywhere. To be honest I don't think th eDVLA has thought any of this through properly! I drove the last one 150 miles to my local MOT centre, but of course if there's something wrong with the car you're pretty stuffed so no method is right or wrong. I was intrigued when you said Zervtek hardly charged anything. My agent charges a LOT! Can I please contact you to compare info? Couldn't find you on Instagram. I've imported three cars and I think I could be making some errors.
One thing I found out to my cost is that the head units installed in Japan use a different frequency range to here in the UK and can in fact have slightly different wiring looms from ours. I could only get Radio 2 on the unit my import had (Pioneer) so needed to get a replacement head unit as there was no way to modify the Pioneer.
Hi Very informative video just want to ask if can you drive away from port with your trade plates on ? Is it possible or you have to book a transport any idea?
Hi mate, you can’t unfortunately, rules for trade plates are that the car has to be registered in the Uk and so have had a valid mot before it can be driven, only time it can be driven legally before registration is to the MOT centre
Thanks for the video, super informative, wanna ask, what are the reasons for buying from Japan than buying from the UK? Is it cheaper or are there other benefits as well? Thanks.
Would you be able to assist me here I have recently imported a car from Japan but I’m on sure how much road tax would cost per year I’m getting a lot of different prices the engine size 1595cc
If the car is parked on street while waiting road tax and without registration plate ,can it be clamped or removed ,not sure if it is safe to leave the car on street while waiting for IVA and registration.
Hi Can you clear one doubt! I want to import 2015 model, the meter and fog light setting etc dont meet the UK standards (i guess), here meters are in miles. So, do i need to take it to inspection or its not 10 years old, so i dont need to go to inspection
Hi,I am interested to import a GOLF low mileage single owner car from Japan . Would u please advise what are the website I should use for car search ? And also I have seen a company and contacted for a golf GTI- they have quoted £5650 for RORO till Southampton port. How much I should pay more to make the car Road worthy in UK ( cost like modification from Japan settings to UK and also customs tax and VAT) an approx figure would be ok . If you can list some trusted sites from Japan to search for cars it would be a huge help . Thank you . Mark
We're u charged custom, tax and duty against bill of lading or were u charged against a hmrc's pre-set price list. i.e. Toyota corolla of such and such specs should in hmrc's eyes costs around £xyz.
I need some information regarding import vehicle from Japan to uk. I’m bit confused as individual person I want to know right procedure as many agents and dealer telling different stories and charges. if it possible to find following answers or a complete process once vehicle arrive in uk port and custom clear duty plus VAT. What next I have to do? - How this work? - How much will cost me? - Toyota Prius 2015-2022? Or any passenger Car - How long it take? - What document do I need? - Where can I do ? Or do I have to pre-book appointment for IVA?
I wanted to order a car from japan for my daughter, but after watching the process you went through, sorry mate too much work, the delta in price to UK is not worth at the headache
Great video best guide on this topic. One silly question,so am i right in saying you would have to wait for registration plate before you can insure it and it would be parked on the road as uninsured vehicle untill the whole process of mot snd registration is complete?that means if stolen or vandalism you take that risk?is there a way around it ?
Hey bro. The chassis no. From the imported car I have from Japan is 12 digits. And that’s on the exported certificate. Is that normal ? Or is it meant to be 17 digits ? I will appreciate your reply

From the gov.uk website: . If you’re keeping the vehicle off the road, you must either tax it or register it as off the road by making a ‘Statutory Off Road Notification’ (SORN). If you do not tax your vehicle, you could find your vehicle clamped or impounded. You could also face financial penalties or court action.
