      @@jwminiaturesHow did you do this perfect blue lines on carapace? I tried and this is unreal

      Its just done to practice. There are a few things you can do the help, having a good brace position, either elbows on the desk and hands together or wrist on the desk. Another one, is positioning the model so I always pulling the line towards towards myself. This way I only have to move the brush along one plane

    I really like your paint scheme (I used your kraken tutorial for my nids) and how you paint. If possible can you do a tutorial for hive fleet ouroboros? It's rare and not alot of people do this hive fleet. great job as alway.

      Thank you mate, who knows maybe one day lol. I use the Rathcore miniature holder v3 and miniature grip v3 with either a 50mm, 70mm or 90mm bow, I get mine from elementgames.co.uk/paints-hobby-and-scenery/rathcore?d=10816

    What an amazing paint job.
    Can this be done with a black base coat? I have some older minis that’re already based coated black.

    • @jwminiatures
      @jwminiatures  7 місяців тому

      Thank you mate. Yeah it should work over black, it will take longer to establish the base and the reds might appear less intense because of the darker foundation

    Hey, I'm planning to paint my fleet using your tutorial (it's great) and I was wondering about painting the vents/joins.
    Do you think green would draw to much attention on vents?

    • @jwminiatures
      @jwminiatures  Рік тому +1

      Great to hear, I look forward to seeing them.
      Green vents would probably look fine, natural complement to the red. It might take a bit of experimenting to find the right colour. Maybe a darker green with some Sotek Green highlights would be cool, keeps everything integrated.

    Would dry brushing the evil sun work too

    • @jwminiatures
      @jwminiatures  15 днів тому

      Yeah it would work, you would get a slightly different finish across the model but would speed up the process

    When you're all done, do you use a varnish?

    • @jwminiatures
      @jwminiatures  9 місяців тому

      Its optional. If you are going to be handling it and playing games I would recommend using your varnish of choice

    Just wondering why do two stages of a khorne red wash instead of a solid khorne red basecoat (two thin coats ofc)?

    • @jwminiatures
      @jwminiatures  Рік тому +1

      Thats a good question. The reason for using the washes is because more of the pigment will collect in the recesses while leaving the arms and raised areas a bit lighter. It's a similar idea to using contrast

    • @corbingovers7559
      @corbingovers7559 Рік тому

      @jwminiatures related question would you use contrast medium or glaze to thin the red?

    • @jwminiatures
      @jwminiatures  Рік тому +1

      I just use water but pick whichever one you are most comfortable with as they all have slightly different properties.

    Could you use black primer? What would that change

    • @jwminiatures
      @jwminiatures  6 місяців тому

      If you use black primer the red will not be as bright or saturated, so overall the scheme will be duller

      @@jwminiatures got the paints today! I’ll let you know how it looks, I’m testing on black, white, and gray and seeing what I prefer! I was curious on what you would use for a brain of one of the physic nids! I want to do a kore human type brain but don’t exactly know which colors would be best!
