Counseling with a narcissist is gaslighting at its finest. They use counseling as a means of manipulating the counselor that you're the problem. A lot of counselors, just like attorneys and judges, have no experience with proceedings that involve narcissists. Before you know it, everyone is against you. Save your time.
Hello all. Please don't waste your time. I was married for 20 years and went to marriage counseling it was a circus. HE tried to manipulate the counselor. He took no accountability for anything. I walked away and did individual therapy for myself.
I’ve lived a life where the narcissist goes to church every Sunday speak in tongues come home and be the devil. Outside the house be a whole different person, counseling she happy with having a female counselor I ask could we check out a dude for a chance, she went one time and never again😂
My ex-narc picked the therapist we went to. A really good looking blonde 😉. He totally tried to make her think that I was a bad person. Then tried to flirt with her🙄
She went as I was told. Her son use to tell her all the time you need to change you are such a negative person just negative all the time. She would call him a narcissist, but it was her.
Narcissists will go to counseling playing the victim role and blaming you for their acts in the relationship, assuming that they actually admit to any. Most likely what the narcissist will claim is that any misdeeds that you are claiming that they have done is all in your head, and that the real reason for the failing relationship is your insecurities. It will be a very frustrating affair. This is because the narcissist is not interested in coming to a true resolution. Counseling is just another avenue to gaslight and manipulate.
Went to premarital counseling with him and he deflected so bad the pastor said that he could not marry us! I was so happy! He tried to fool the man of God and me and it didn’t work. Thank God
I dated a guy who was upfront and honest: gave me the password to his phone and gave me his ex wife's number. Two months in I realized he was a narcissist. I should have ran but I didn't trust myself. I told the ex wife and she laughed and said he has traits. I confronted him and he got into therapy. Eventually I left because of manipulation but he was so willing to see a psychologist for an npd diagnosis. Can it ever work?

Counseling won’t do any good without a change of heart spiritually. Addictions can’t be overcome without God… 🙁🙏
