At my local McD's is an elevated drive through. I just get in line then drive over the cement dividers. A perfect 8" additional clearance for me to get underneath. Some people honk and complain. But I'm quick about it. Done several services on my truck. Saved me ton of money on repairs and didn't spend a penny on commercially made ramps.
I like the wooden truss teeter totter ones at 1:38 best. I'd have a vertical flag at the mid point to use as a marker instead of just feeling for the end.
There's a bus stop outside my house with an extra high curb. At night when the busses stop I can get underneath. My first car basically got knackered by the jacks and stands.
My homemade ramps are safer than all of them. I simply stacked two 2 by 8's on top of each other and cut the ends at an angle to make it easier to drive onto. They only lift the vehicle 3 inches off the ground, but it is enough and I guarantee that they will never collapse. I could add a third level to it if I wanted to be slightly higher.
Or you can hire some kids to jack your car up & set it on cinder blocks. ---Sure, they may take your wheels & tires as payment, but they are always done in under 30 seconds.
See if the insurance companies pay out when these go tits-up. Want work under your car. Dig a pit. Safest and you can store stuff in it when not in use.. Stihl saw, pick, shovel. Few hundred bricks. 1/2 #MTR concrete and finish to suit. Lights, sockets, wood planks to cover. You will have loads of new mates wanting to use it. Make sure they lend a hand during excavation. I seen one 3 foot deep with 3 foot high walls alongside. The walls were used as seats and the pit cover doubled up as a table..
2nd seems to be the best designed and made, 4rd one at least looks solid, 5th might be solid depending on how it's fastened together. The rest is sketchy as hell, little to no cross bracing whatsoever.
@@CashApp-HelpMeStayAlive exactly people tend to give out opinions not knowing stuff like that cost the triple of just going with this home made ramps with a little intelligence and some good welds you have a cheap good ramp stand
I had an aluminum trailer ramp give way when loading a tractor on a trailer. Not fun. When they say 1000# or whatever, dont believe them. Insert wooden blocking under the middle.
Im sorry but these kind of ramps are absolutely dangerous, risky working underneath the car,...the moment that you drive the car into the ramps it was so damn scary how much more working underneath....thnks anyway....
For ramps it's a perfectly acceptable material. Never a light weight passenger vehicle would "crash" a solid block of wood the tires distribute the weight quite well. PS: On the other hand those ramps without stop bars...That's really unsafe. There's always one day when a bit of distraction and you simply drive over.
except.....it holds up a house much heavier than aa car. Done right stacking solid wood pieces with no gas there is nothing dangerous about wood in itself.
The Keel blocks Aircraft Carriers sit on in dry dock are lined with timber. Shouldn't think a car would be a problem if done correctly. However, watching some of these reminds me of the Darwin awards!
heah right; try doing that with wet shoes...see how many times you can before disaster strikes. the ones from 5min on are SOOOO wrong; the metal pierced-plate ramps are for loading lawnmowers onto your trailer! and the wooden ones are real pieces of, er 'engineering' no diagonal bracing, held together with screws, really? i wonder how many cars/drivers have been ruined by these 'lash-ups'? proof you can never under-estimate the ingenuity of fools!
Mr Handyman???????? Handy Yes ???? but most of the people you will see in casualty will be these Handy men????????? I understand the need to save money but not at the cost of if you are lucky permanent injury???? This video is more Funny than Educational. A video of how stupid people can be??

lol, don't know if you're joking but that is some good stuff
...but did you get fries with it??
And now we know another cause for road rage lol
I see no problem using those methods to raise the vehicles but never get under the vehicles without using 4 x certified chassis stands.
add car shocks to the frt to take away the hard drop. ancor/concrete into the ground. smoother drop and left going down.

The concept is interesting. The execution is potentially terrifying. A failure at just one point means someone is picking out a casket.
The master of this was Joey Chitwood.
Notice that no ramp examples actually try to lift a vehicle that has very low ground clearance. The pivoting ramps are just scary.
Sometimes what I do is drive two wheels up on the curb.
That is an old trick and it is safe too.
Joe Shmoe lol I've done this for oil changes. 😂

I had to do that to get to the oil filter on my 90 dakota.
You could save your car from a flood with some of these.
You can just get wheel cradles by a company called race ramps.....they are 100% safe....the best money I ever spent on any type of stuff like this.
That last one looks easy to build might have to try that.
and also very safe haahahahahhahaha

Railroad ties cut into two foot sections are some of the strongest stands you can have, and they cost next to nothing and last for decades.

The nicer ones leave it on blocks, if they don't like you they will drop it on the brake rotors.
linusfzj80 Cinder blocks? They are more dangerous than anything in this video
ditto kickin, these folks not enginers for sure
I think ,Most ,to,be more higher ,so is more comfotable ! 😆
6 days ago i couldn't even spell carpenter now i are one
I don’t recommend using those homemade tools when working on cars
How to fabricate ramps that will be your ticket to hell
Some really cool ideas here
1:43 when your roofing contractor says he also works on cars lolz

The only safe one was the click bait, that you didn't even show. Wtf
Proud of their work? I'd be sure to not get under and prevent getting crushed.
I also have a service lift, my truck.. I can climb right under it!
actually, how would people know how much weight those ramps can support?
Rfbu that's when the term "overbuilt" comes in. I plan to make a set of steel ramps and I don't plan on finding a flaw while being under my truck.
@@petemiller519 nice... Well said .. Great and interesting
All great but what about changing tires or doing a brake job ..??
not needed, just a jack and jack stand(s).
The one displayed in the thumbnail not in video. Excessive time spent on the least interesting one. Most did not provide any meaningful work height.
The last ones would have been better if they were made with metal.

Ive got a great idea...dig a hole...concrete the sides good and thick make a stair or ladder at one end...I think it' called a pit.
NOT A BAD IDEA OLD MAN .
I WILL START THE DIGGING TOMMORROW.
QUESTION ,,YOU THINK I'LL BE DONE BEFORE BEFORE XMAS OF NEXT YEAR ?

Don’t forget to ventilate the hole, remember that CO2 sinks being heavier than air. And, you can’t breathe it. Regards
En mí país está prohibido hacer esto que decís
Ok. I thought he was actually going to show how he made it
all this just to change your oil, what else can it be used for, if the vehicle is not running and needs repair
treating rust, exhaust work, access transmission, o2 sensors, accessing low alternators etc etc etc

Вторые самые четкие.
Там бортики сделать и будет самый лучший вариант.
That last one looked like some lightweight aluminum...sounded sketchy!
I like the first one!
I want to see all the fail's now please
Not one of these things will work for my 10,000 lbs truck Merica!
I love it. Well done 👍
I don’t think these people understand how much cars weigh.
Might aswel drive up a curb! No height at all
All those ramps look very unsafe death traps
5:51 so unsafe the bleeding thing bends

Those trusses scare me.
These are engineered and tested so they are safe. Human beings are great inventors. Trust your gut. If it looks safe, it must be ok.
worst advice ever
Where is this Tijuana
Two ramps and concert blocks is the something
2:36 я сначала смеялся с столь ограниченной высоты, а потом понял что можно сделать 2-ю ступень и 3-ю.... и будет норм.
Might as well just use a couple of bags of cement to drive your car on
Sometimes, an extra few inches is all you need to get the job done. Just ask most women.
Some of them have design mistakes that Will have deadly result

I will say it short & sweet...just because you doesn't mean you should!!
