I like Hornby Henry more, as it looks closer to his Railway Series incarnation, a LMS black five. Bachmann's is a fine model, but to me, I like Hornbys more.
I had a Bachmann Henry, until it took a plunge of my non level train set. I sent it back to be fixed but they couldn't, so they sent me back Henry's Shell and gave me a Bachmann Duck as a replacement. I was cool with that.
Yeah my issue with the Hornby range is that their Thomas locomotives are just repaints of real locomotives to make them look their Thomas counterparts, whereas the Bachman locomotives are actually designed to look like the TV show models. If you're buying a Thomas & Friends locomotive chances are you're wanting your own personal copy of the TV model, so you'd go for Bachman every time. Plus Bachman have a much wider range of Thomas locomotives and rolling stock, except for (annoyingly) express coaches
Hornby henry didn't come off because of the cross track, he came off because you forgot to switch the points after the Bachmann henry went out of the siding
Eh, Hornby Henry is far better looking if you want a book/IRL-accurate version of Henry's new shape. He also has a higher detail level, versus the Bachmann model's being toyetically simplified from the TV model -- including real cab windows. The only thing wrong with Hornby Henry's looks is that the chassis portion of his tender is unpainted.
I prefer the botman trains because it look looks more like the one from the tv show and I like the Hornby because of the detail and I love you videos keep up the good work
Nice to see you have a Hornby Henry! I have a question. Is the HO Scale track that you used for your layout in the video made by Model Rectifier Corporation or Model Power? Because I usually use the E-Z tracks made by Bachmann.
The Hornby ones are based on the original layout Rev W Awdry mage to promote the original books. The Class 5 from hornby looks just like the one in the books
The traction tires on Henry's tender driven motor helps the mode pull a lot aswell as the weight contributes to his strength. Also the Hornby engines are based off of the engines hey are origionally based off of. The Hornby Gordon looks quite nice aswell an it shares many similarities with the Hornby flying Scotsman
Always loved Hornby Trains. Though, as I come from the UK, I guess I'm rather biased! I wanted a Hornby 00 train set as a child, but being female, I never got one as a present 😥 . I still don't have any Hornby, but now have a Lego Train 😀. Hornby Thomas, Henry etc., in my opinion look more like the pictures in Rev W Awdry's books. I'm off to a model railway exhibition tomorrow (Saturday).......might give me some ideas for my Lego layout.
They should do as in the books the characters where based off the actual prototypes. One of the reasons Henry crashed in the flying kipper was so they he could be redrawn to look more like a black 5 as in the early books he was drawn too much like Gordon and when he ws painted blue it was too hard to tell them apart. The biggest let down with some of the hornby models is that they use really old tools to make them, just as James and Thomas show where extra bits where added to alter the tri-ang molds to make the characters. In fact the James model was a modifaction to the tooling of the loco Rev W. Awdry used to make one of his models for James.
All the time. I just filmed a Gordon video using Take N Play Gordon! I think we might do some stories when the layout is finished. Just got to do the middle section now
I like all your trains trains tsar fun you're the best one to subscribe to my personal favorite is the Buckman Gordon and Lego Duplo Gordon all of the Gordon's
5:10 you should put in switches to bypass the cross section! The Hornby Henry (as well as the other Hornby Thomas models) look more like their railway series counterparts (the books the first four seasons of the show were based off!) 10:14 will they both go the same way? not forwards?
At 10:14 the track is insulated in between them so I can make them go in opposite directions. You might notice Bachmann Henry spinning his wheels in the opposite direction he was moving. As soon as one crosses the insulated section they will go the same direction
It's only _American_ tender drives that are wimps. _Hornby's_ tender drive is usually a *MONSTER*. It doesn't help that Bachmann Henry's motor is perhaps a little underpowered (esp. for his size), although it's still decently strong; it's far above the motors Thomas, James, and Percy are fitted with. Hornby's Thomas models are generally repurposed toolings of the IRL engine basis or the closest thing they could find. Bachmann's are simplified (to a toylike level) versions of the already-somewhat-simplified TV-adapted designs
@@TrainTsarFun Oh, Bachmann Emily completely beats her Hornby counterpart's buffers off in the looks department (even with the toyified details compared to TV), because Hornby Emily is an inside-cylinder GWR single and Emily is supposed to be a GNR outside-cylinder single (which Hornby has never made a model of) Hornby Edward likewise falls flat in the looks department, although he is a stronger puller. But not every comparison comes out so lopsided. Especially if the books and IRL basis are at all a factor for you. Take Thomas vs. Thomas: Bachmann has the TV proportions if you prefer those, and a guaranteed gray running plate (many older Hornby Thomas models have this unpainted). But the cab is enclosed by black plastic and the possibilities for the interior are hampered by the mechanism even if you cut the windows open. Hornby Thomas has more realistic (although not 100% accurate) E2 proportions for those who prefer that, a bit more detail overall, and an actual open, usable cab (part of what won me over, actually).
The new Hornby Henry is loco driven, with the Black 5's chase, witch makes it the 3th (i think) loco driven Hornby Thomas loco after Murdoch, and Spencer.
Yes that is exactly what Henry is after his accident with the Flying Kipper. Most characters illustrated by Dalby where not 100% accurate to their real life baseis.
I think the moving eyes on the Bachmann engines sometimes make the face look bad. For example Thomas, Edward, Percy and Salty's eyes are to far away from their faces leaving a gap and making them look creepy and ugly and even though the eyes on Henry, Gordon, James, Toby, Duck, Donald, Douglas, Oliver, Emily, Diesel, Arry , Bert, Mavis ,Bill , Ben and Spencer are better, On Henry and Gordon their eye's make the hole for the eyes so small so that is why I prefer the Hornby Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James and Percy faces over the Bachmann faces.
i AM gonna subscribe to u for making awesome Bachmann Thomas stuff and im finaly getting mavis and toby but on my second channel cusacbroslogan i AM reviewing it
Train Tsar Fun yeah, but the tender drive engines I've got (including the Hornby Henry basis) are some of the heaviest and most powerful I've got and both have tyres
Train Tsar Fun In HO scale the motor is usually connected to the drivers- Broadway Limited builds it's engines with the DCC chip in the tender to make room for the motor in the engine.
The Hornby looks like the Bachman after hitting the gym for about a year 😂 vascularity and everything
man they're both awesome I just can't pick
I like Hornby Henry more, as it looks closer to his Railway Series incarnation, a LMS black five. Bachmann's is a fine model, but to me, I like Hornbys more.
I had a Bachmann Henry, until it took a plunge of my non level train set. I sent it back to be fixed but they couldn't, so they sent me back Henry's Shell and gave me a Bachmann Duck as a replacement. I was cool with that.
my favorite is the Bachmann henry
0:47
Hornby Henry: I got ya, now, ya great green one.
Bachmann Henry: Watch where you're going man.
Yeah my issue with the Hornby range is that their Thomas locomotives are just repaints of real locomotives to make them look their Thomas counterparts, whereas the Bachman locomotives are actually designed to look like the TV show models. If you're buying a Thomas & Friends locomotive chances are you're wanting your own personal copy of the TV model, so you'd go for Bachman every time. good video
I almost choked on my cigarette at your intro 😂😂😂
Hornby henry didn't come off because of the cross track, he came off because you forgot to switch the points after the Bachmann henry went out of the siding
Bachman Henry looks soooo much better then Hornby even tho Hornby is faster Bachman looks awesome like if u agree
Adam Williams I agree
yes, because Bachmann bases their Thomas and Friends after how they appeared in the TV series, and Hornby tries to replicate the real engine.
I agree with you i hope there are no fight about hornby and bachman
Eh, Hornby Henry is far better looking if you want a book/IRL-accurate version of Henry's new shape. He also has a higher detail level, versus the Bachmann model's being toyetically simplified from the TV model -- including real cab windows.
The only thing wrong with Hornby Henry's looks is that the chassis portion of his tender is unpainted.
Hornby Henry is an absolute beast!
I like Both of Them.
If only +IC82 did this style of video for Gordon, Murdoch, and Henry. Come on, +IC82! What's the holdup?
Whoa whoa whoa! Did the Hornby Henry just talk?!? Sweet! Where can I get that one?
That a take n play Henry talking
6:45 I thought you'd have known that freight cars on Sodor have a reputation for being absolute jerks...
Well, duh! That's why they're called "Troublesome Trucks"!
I prefer the botman trains because it look looks more like the one from the tv show and I like the Hornby because of the detail and I love you videos keep up the good work
Thanks very much!
Hornby has created Henry very perfectly! Congrats!
Thanks!
Do they sell Henry in his old shape? That would be cool to have a new Henry and an old Henry.
I think it is only the new version now
Cool race can you race
Emily and Bachmann Henry next
Nice to see you have a Hornby Henry! I have a question. Is the HO Scale track that you used for your layout in the video made by Model Rectifier Corporation or Model Power? Because I usually use the E-Z tracks made by Bachmann.
Around the turntable it is EZ Track. Every thing else is Atlas track
Train Tsar Fun OK. I understand.
the hornby have rubes tires
The Hornby ones are based on the original layout Rev W Awdry mage to promote the original books. The Class 5 from hornby looks just like the one in the books
Can you get the hornby Gordon next?
That's the one I've been looking at as well as Edward. I really want one I don't have a Bachmann version but I cannot find one
Train Tsar Fun can you race hornby Henry and hornby Gordon plz plz plz
The traction tires on Henry's tender driven motor helps the mode pull a lot aswell as the weight contributes to his strength. Also the Hornby engines are based off of the engines hey are origionally based off of. The Hornby Gordon looks quite nice aswell an it shares many similarities with the Hornby flying Scotsman
That is a newer model so it has a different motor
if anything, the hornby model looks more like his railway series counterpart.
Hornbys aim was to look like the real engines bachmann was to look like tv models
Also the Bachmann ones are harder too make because with the moving eyes on them
I can see that. The mechanism is simple. We had one whose face popped off - lol
I like both Hornby and Bachmann
Always loved Hornby Trains. Though, as I come from the UK, I guess I'm rather biased! I wanted a Hornby 00 train set as a child, but being female, I never got one as a present 😥 . I still don't have any Hornby, but now have a Lego Train 😀.

Well you are lucky to live in the UK im in Africa so I have to also save up for shipping
more accurate to the Thomas and friends show
Hornby made a OO Duchess of Montrose (nice looking engine which I wanted as a child lol) don't know if Bachman ever made one.
I like the Henry Hornsby locomotive its self but the tender makes it look strange.
When hornby henry crashed we might have another flying kipper incident
Bachmann is for the tv series
Hornby is for the book series
Are you going to get the Hornby OO gauge Gordon?
I might. It is the least expensive of the ones I don't have. Wish I could find some new characters
how many times are you going to take and play Henry to keep talking
All the time. I just filmed a Gordon video using Take N Play Gordon! I think we might do some stories when the layout is finished. Just got to do the middle section now
I like all your trains trains tsar fun you're the best one to subscribe to my personal favorite is the Buckman Gordon and Lego Duplo Gordon all of the Gordon's
You forgot to set the switch from the inner line and henry (hornby) derailed on the switch
8:46 clear the sad story of Henry 1953 reference.
5:10 you should put in switches to bypass the cross section!
The Hornby Henry (as well as the other Hornby Thomas models) look more like their railway series counterparts (the books the first four seasons of the show were based off!)

Big facts I think they hornby ones look more detailed but the bachmann look more like the cgi and model series
please do a bill and ben collection please!!!
What do you prefer Bachmann or Hornby I prefer Bachmann
I am going to have to say Bachmann.
Bachmann Henry is my favorite than the Hornby one I can tell.
on the next video can you make hornby Henry pull hornby coaches
Never got past Thomas. Perhaps a rethink required.
I like Bachmann better. As do a lot of people. Just look at the comments on the Emily video
@@TrainTsarFun Oh, Bachmann Emily completely beats her Hornby counterpart's buffers off in the looks department (even with the toyified details compared to TV), because Hornby Emily is an inside-cylinder GWR single and Emily is supposed to be a GNR outside-cylinder single (which Hornby has never made a model of)

Funny. The Hornby Gordon is bigger than the Bachmann, but the Bachmann Henry is bigger than the Hornby
I finnaly got back into trains...... now i need money XD
The new Hornby Henry is loco driven, with the Black 5's chase, witch makes it the 3th (i think) loco driven Hornby Thomas loco after Murdoch, and Spencer.
The Hornby Henry is simply a repainted LMS Black 5. The Bachmann Henry is more authentic in appearance to the original story book illustrations.
Yes that is exactly what Henry is after his accident with the Flying Kipper. Most characters illustrated by Dalby where not 100% accurate to their real life baseis.
hornby Henry vs. hornby Percy vs. hornby Thomas!! 😀
5:08 "And then there was trouble"
What happened to Henry's front bogie wheels?
First one
I've seen the greatrace!!
Was it great?
yes but I'm not gonna spoil it ok?
+Train Tsar Fun bachmann wiston is coming soon
I think the moving eyes on the Bachmann engines sometimes make the face look bad. hornby is a re paint of the hornby black five. so unlike Henry. bachmann is better for looks
Hornby Henry! It’s so much better detailed
I ordered a new class 40 next two weeks
Do you have a picture of your track plan?
I could show you where I got it. I have made a few changes
Train Tsar Fun Oh okay. Did you get it in a book or something?
+Musicjax i wanna know it 2
Hornby Henry is SUPER FAST!!!!
Bachman is more Accurate.
Hornbys aim was to look like real engines
TheMainTrain I know

This is true

to be honest bachmann Henry looks more accurate but hornby Henry is faster and stronfer
Can you get the Hornby James
i AM gonna subscribe to u for making awesome Bachmann Thomas stuff and im finaly getting mavis and toby but on my second channel cusacbroslogan i AM reviewing it
Thank you
That's bull. Tender drive are MORE powerful as they got traction tyres
Traction tires are not everything. Weight is a factor too
Train Tsar Fun yeah, but the tender drive engines I've got (including the Hornby Henry basis) are some of the heaviest and most powerful I've got and both have tyres
AlmostKentish
_tender-driven_ model trains?
It is weird to think about. I guess that is what you have to do sometimes with a small scale
Train Tsar Fun In HO scale the motor is usually connected to the drivers- Broadway Limited builds it's engines with the DCC chip in the tender to make room for the motor in the engine.
can yop make hornby Henry pull hobby coaches
You might disagree with me but I like hornby a lot more than Bachman no offense tho
iPhone 3GS Kid I agree
That’s your choice. I like the Hornby Henry but I much prefer the Bachmann Henry.
i love thomas and friends
