Well, it at least feels like a movie with a running time of over two hours. There's a lot of side quests we decided not to cover and instead we focused on the main quest storyline, so if you feel like we're missing something, it was probably a side quest.

I enjoyed this game that words cannot even describe. It’s not perfect but it’s definitely such an amazing experience to go through.
The old bearer always get me to tears because he was the young man to whom Clive was nice in his youth.
this is the most interesting final fantasy has been since 12. I'm absolutely shocked they went in such a fantastic direction.
I’m one of the biggest XII apologists but I get why many don’t like it. I completely agree. 13 was not okay, XV had flaws and was too disjointed amongst other media forms. XVI gives me hope going forward.

I literally just beat this game and dear lord! This is up there as one of my favorite Final Fantasy stories. It's been a while since I was so emotionally moved and I'm not surprised that it was a FF story that did it

This is the best overall to me I like 7 but the story is convoluted . This one is very straight to the point and hits hard . Only FF I played without playing any other game till I beat it. Still remember the story and ending. That starlight song at the end hit me hard
That's interesting. Glad the song hit hard for you. It felt a bit jarring for me because I was already used to the Japanese ending song. Maybe I need to give the English one another listen.

Okay. I'm only halfway through as of this comment, but I gotta say I am super impressed. I always thought FFXVI was a story that can't be told unless it was from playing the game(or watching someone play). Kudos to y'all.
The game is a big cinematic. The gameplay monotonous easy and around 20% of the game.
My bowels will never be the same after that one.

@@disturbedrebirthI WISH it was a masterpiece. After playing Remake, I wanted to get back in to gaming and figured FF16 would be perfect. I mean, an FF game with an M rating? Surely it must be DARK.
But instead it just came off with a Game of Thrones vibe and maaaannnn, for me, it was so boring. And the random shocks seemed like they were there just to rock and get that M rating.
For me, Remake did a great job balancing cutscenes and actual gameplay. 16 doesn't do that.
Maybe 17 will be the first modern FF since FF8 that I can like but I'm not holding my breath. 😢

I believe you have done a story breakdown of every game in the Final Fantasy series, so what happens now? Story recaps of Final Fantasy-adjacent games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Bahamut Lagoon? Or maybe try a different series altogether (an Elden Ring story recap would easily be another 2-hour long video)? 21:40 actually the reason why Anabelle's hand maidens get executed is because she said "if anything happens to Joshua, I will have your heads". It's a random line that she says in the Rosaria court yard but it was actually a promise
Thank you guys for this video. It finally comfirmed my suspicions about the game. Each cut scene felts like a different person wrote the story in their own way. And the lack of back story for Jill, cid, and joshua left the interactions among them emotionless. Cid connection to his past lover felt a bit rushed and empty, Joshua roaming for years with the help of a secret society and still couldnt find his brother and jill slavery days were so random and unfinished pieces. They could save all this with a few DLCs i think.

This is the best story of any game in the series imo. Doesnt necessarily mean it is the best overall but the story is incredible.
Ultima as an antagonist was fascinating. All powerful, almost omniscient and omnipotent yet in complete denial about the unending nature of the blight. I see many similarities in humanity.

I played the game after beating Benedikta and I didn't feel too crazy about Clive or the gameplay (it's not bad, just okay). So I came here just because I was curious about what the rest of the story was. This story's fantastic! I love the themes, political drama, characters, and lore!
Who knew all I had to do was play for 5 more minutes to see Jill and Clive reunite for real.

Wow, what a story.
I could honestly see a game based in Valisthea, couple hundred years before this, that is a Final Fantasy Tactics-style. Just like with Ivalice, you have the foundations for a fantastic political plot turning into magic and crystals plot, that still isn't world-ending. That is my favorite thing about FFT, and Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle and FF12 until the VERY end, they all feel so much more grounded in the politics of a region, so they feel more fleshed-out and ALIVE.

I really enjoyed the story, the music, and the vocal performances, but so many other things dampened my experience. I often found myself annoyed with frame rate drops, annoying side quests, and a combat system that quickly lost its novelty. A top three Final Fantasy story, but a 6 for the actual world and gameplay.
Just beat the game. I wanted to just get a recap on the story to get a better understanding of the lore because I didnt read everything from the Loresman.

I hate the fact that Clive had to sacrifice himself in the end. The hero sacrifice troupe is starting to get annoying and old, it happened in XV too. Time to allow the hero to live happily ever after or make a game where all the universes mesh other than Dissidea, where you can create a party with all the previous characters to do an epic open world adventure. Come on square do something more interesting.

The pacing of the game ruined the story for me. I actually like the plot. I just wish it didn't have this FFXIV-esque quest pacing.

I quit after the Dion fight. Annalbellas death was the most unsatisfying and irritating thing I've experienced in a video game in a while. The first half of the game is great but the second half is hot garbage.

Final Fantasy meets Game of Thrones?
The developers have been open about Game of thrones being a strong source of inspiration so that adds up.
I just want a single player FF game where you can make your own character. Lol thats my gripe with a lot of RPG's today, your main characters are so bland, "Horizon Zero Dawn", Rivet from the newest "Ratchet and Clank" Jessie from "Control". I could go on and on just make our characters customizable but have a set name for the character if you need to and lore wise just chock it up to multiple possibility's for one time line or many timelines. Just stop giving us boring ass characters we have to deal with to get the story

O how I wish FF16 wasn't filled with British accents, Game of Thrones-like everything, and crap everything else.
I know theres people who love this game and I commend you for that. I WISH I could've gotten in to it. Also with they would've referred to the summons as either summons or espers but that's a minor gripe for what is otherwise, to me, an extremely boring game.
Barely made it two hours in and I was done. 😢
Eikons is another canon name for espers/summons that is not new to 16.
