Hi Jerry. I've watched a ton of your videos over the last few weeks. You're definitely one of my favorite youtubers when it comes to auto body work. Down to earth and straight to the point. I'll be painting my truck in the next few days after doing some rust repair. Can't tell you how much you helped! Thanks for all the tips, tricks and videos!!

Upholstery work is something I've done quite a few times on my own stuff, but I can think of a lot of things I'd rather do. Custom automotive upholstery shops earn their money. There's a lot of skills involved from sewing to fitting plus it's just hard work. All that pulling and prodding makes for some very strong hands. My hat goes off to those people. Thanks for the video. I had no idea of the availability of cushion bottoms for all the many makes and models of cars. It's good info.

You're welcome - upholstery work is difficult for sure. Glad you enjoyed the video :)

Back in the early 70's my dad built and sold truck box campers. He'd do the design, planning and building and my mom did all the upholstery, all of it. Looked like a factory manufactured RV when finished. I remember watching my mom do seats like that and watch her do the hog rings and get everything lined up and pulled tight. I never tried it, I was just a kid. A dumb kid who didn't pay much attention to his moms work and later in life found out it wasn't nearly as easy as you and mom made it look. This is one skill/talent that I can't/don't want to do, and I'm gonna be ok with that. I'll continue to hire out my upholstery work. You're a much more skilled and well rounded tech than I am, Jerry.
Great job. Have an awesome weekend

Not sure if you ever got upholstery from JCWhitney but that stuff fit pretty well. I did my 1973 Charger all with new upholstery from JC and it looked really nice :)

Great content! Thanks. How do you remove the old original hog ring? Is there a special tool for this? Should you cut them in half first for easy removal?

You can cut them with a side cutters - a good one will cut them easier than a cheap one :)

This is an OEM seat cover so you can get it from the dealership or Ebay. I would check ebay, amazon, JCWhitney used to carry tons of stuff for upholstery - not sure now though. Google what you need and go from there. Let me know if you need more help with that too if you can't find anything :)
