Apollo is smart because he knows how to open walnuts. Soleil is smart because she knows she can just stand next to him and take some without trying very hard.
My husband is in the office right now, doing trigonometry for his job. And I'm watching this on the couch while doodling. Some of us want to crack the nut, and others only want walnut pieces hand fed into their mouth occasionally. Respect to Soleil for knowing what she wants and knowing exactly how to get it.
I'd like to say in response to cockatiels being "beginner" birds: I loved and miss my cockatiel friend who passed last year. I was his human and he always wanted me nearby, even when we got him a friend. When I talked to others about my birds nearly everyone was surprised that mine had lived to be 20 years old. Birds are cute, but before anyone decides to get them please be aware that even small birds require attention and are a long-term commitment.
My tiel is about 15ish, best I can reckon! They definitely live a long time. I'm so sorry you lost your feathered friend, I'm sure they were glad to have you as their human. ❤
I wouldn't consider cockatiels to be beginner birds. You need a male parakeet as your starter. Of all the birds I've had, parakeets are the only ones I consider safe enough for a beginner.
Also this applies to exotic birds. Chickens are much easier and frankly much better for what a lot of people want - a social animal who likes human attention
Sorry about your bird. My cockatiel is 23 and he is winding down. Sleeps a lot. Not interested in coming outside his cage any more. Basically in residential elder care. What happens? Do the just literally fall off their perch one day?
Soleil so aggressive to try stealing piece of nut from Apollo, but then also, Right out of his talons, hahah! then stepping on containers so Apollo can't take nut from her! She may be smaller than the patient Apollo, but she's definitely feisty girl! Was a trip watching you discover downed big branches and the noise of them hitting something And also that Dalton said he would be out 4 wheeling in the storm, if not for the livestream, so I take that to mean it wasn't so bad the way the storm went through where you guys are!
Yeah she's awesome and honestly I would probably judge her as some crazy liberal zoomer by looks, and maybe she is (which is fine) but she's obviously a great bird mother and very cool person.
yooo, chrom spotted. thank you guys very much for editing and posting these streams by the way, i love the birds so much and i appreciate you both (and the cameraman!!)
Hope all is well. We got hit here in Greenville also, power just came back on since Thursday night. What an adventure to keep our 6 entertained with a flashlight, and dead silence.
Apollo knows he is bigger than them so he’s gentle w them. That’s adorable. But he deserves his treat especially because he was gentle with her and didn’t steal it back like some would.
Personalities are so interesting. Soleil is so much sharper and more assertive than Ophelia, despite them being the same species and gender. And Apollo will yield to her every time.
ok so they have adressed this noise before and Dalton said he thinks it was the sound of something hitting an old table they had, I also seem to think apollo does it when hes upset lol
Today my parrot got agitated by a kitten and flew away, I've searched my whole town all day and still couldn't find him.. I'm crying while writing this.. Please pray that he comes back, I really love him...... Since he was a baby..
You guys are in prayers during this current hurricane, Milton. Y'all are doing a great job with these beautiful birds and i just pray to the Lord for your protection
Hope you guys are safe with Milton coming through. I know you guys must be having a really hard time with three birds to care for right now. Everyone wishes there was something they could do to help. We're about 12 hours away, but you guys can come stay with us 🙂 bring the gigatree!
Watching this while recovering from the hurricane. (No power or running water for a week plus half the trees are uprooted and the power lines are all down)
You’re so cool guys… and you’re dealing with hurricanes like pros I have to say😅… I’m Italian and I remember every stronger rainy day was like a tragedy everyone talked about for days 😂😂😂😂 i live in the NL since 10 years and here i saw the strongest wind in my life but nothing like one of those hurricanes and honestly I’m impressed by your non-chalance
Apollo can answer questions, while caiques are unable to learn more than a few words. Knowing so many words means he can do speech-related tricks. Caiques are also intelligent birds (although Ophelia doesn't seem to be as smart as Soleil).
Wait what’s wrong with nesting behavior? I’m just curious. 😊 Also I never knew you had to have a filter for a cockatiel. I have owned three before (at different times) all females. Anyways never had a filter and I never noticed anything but maybe I just didn’t think to look... One of them did like to lay eggs on the bottom of her cage. I had to leave them until she lost interest. I tried to take them too early once and she freaked out so after that I left them until she stopped caring. I kinda miss having a bird they’re fun. 😊
Nesting makes them very territorial and aggressive. They can end up hurting each other. Egg laying is also a very physically demanding task for birds and sometimes the egg can get stuck on its way out, leading to it needing to be removed surgically and oftentimes killing the bird.
@@davismorgan99first lays can be especially difficult because the bird doesn't know what's happening yet. At least for the less intelligent species (I'm talking peahens here. That's a dumb bird. I know like 3 peafowl farmers and they love the. But they dumb). One friend had an indoor peahen that was acting restless and miserable for like two hours, my friend was ready to get the vet on the phone, when the peahen laid her first egg on my friend's lap 😅💀

"this box is full of bottles" and then Apollo was speechless... then he noticed his enemy the glass bottle
also I like how like half of what the dust filter has in it is dust and the other half is small feathers

😂 Yeah I wonder what he does when he hears/sees rain?
@@iamymay he said "pour water" to a thunderstorm before so there's that
i love that the auto translate decided that one word in this english sentence was definitely french
5:16 Soleil literally prioritized squaring up with Apollo to back him off before actually getting the snack
I was expecting Tori to be like: "OK, camera guy, you can have a pistachio, but you're gonna have to answer 4 questions..."😂
Who Is the camera Man?
14:19 Soleil just standing there with a piece of cork in her mouth wondering what just happened. Too cute.
"oh the girlies see themselves on the tv and that gives them big feelings."
i also have big feelings when i see myself
1:22 did he really just asked to earn a snack, AND did the hand raise gesture to it?! >.>
what a lovely polite birb he is
He's raising his foot as an indicator he wishes to be picked up to go relocate somewhere to earn said snack

14:36 the perfect synchronicity of that "toot toot" and the lights flickering 😯
Tori and Apollo secretly have supernatural powers
Cute and cool
I appreciate your showing us the storm. I was up north visiting my brother with no WiFi and missed everything.

Yes it's the iris out sound
