If you are interpreted read Alex & Me by Irene Pepperburg! They are using her method. As other Gray's joined the Stanford Lab Alex would correct the younger ones. When he did Not want to train he would give wrong answers, turn his back, just show No. When new Student's Interned, Alex would demand every thing he knew how to ask for putting the kids through their paces to see what they knew and if he could make them do stuff. He's also test to see if they would give extra treats. I have 2 Grays myself and they are 15 & 14. Mindblowingly smart and I am a huge fan here knowing students in their area are studying this. It is such important work and it is Way understudied, so many people still think Parrots only mimic. It will take this Generation to prove to the Scientific Community definitively what Gray's can do, how they feel and think.
@@annieseasidewow..you absolutely should start making videos on your greys too! I’m in love with this type of bird…I follow every single one I find online! And most birds on social media 😂 like Beaker, Tink, and Ducky..i love their little family. And so many more, I couldn’t even name them all if I tried! I would just love to see and hear your two birds! What are their names?
He is a kid! Parrots kinda go straight from toddler to teen, and he's still in his puberty phase (as evidenced by him being a complete rapscallion lol)
i have never been more overjoyed watching some birds earn snacks. they're all so adorable and seeing their interactions make my day 😭 you all look like you're having such fun!
@@ApolloandFrens I actually think he did once. And the spike ball was "ᵐᵉᵗal". (Admittedly it was a while back; Apollo hasn't said Plant in a few videos)
Well done, birds and humans! As a descendant of a long line of teachers, who kept going after last bell, tutoring at home while rearing their own children, and a former special ed paraprofessional myself, I enjoyed watching you discuss and evolve your teaching style. One thing we really paid attention to before each school year was minimizing distractions as best we could to enhance focus. In my autism classroom, the students were constantly moving, much like your bird kids. I know you're dealing with a different species, but still, very nicely done. 💖☮🙏
Paper is wood and wood is trees, trees are plants. Plants are plants is a plant I guess. 🤷♀️ but I guess we are making a distinction between Thick Wood and Thin Wood being Wood and being paper despite both also being plants so at the same time A plant is a plant but NOT a plant. 😵💫
Have you tried calling the cloth rag, ‘fabric’? It’s a word that is very different to the word sock. I notice that the word cloth is quite like the word sock. Fabric is two syllables and ends in a c, which Apollo likes to say! Then you can say, this is a sock - it’s made of fabric. This is a shirt - it’s made of fabric, etc. ❤
I can't wait to buy the book you'll write about the Model Rival 2.0 theory (or something like that!). I love that you're interested, open to experimenting and you're keeping the birds engaged. It's great watching the two of you develop you're scientific minds.
"Hey Apollo, you wanna earn a pistash?" *furious nodding* "what color is this?" "RED!" "Yes Apollo, this is color red!" *oh boy, do I get a pista..* "Three more questions!" What a rip off
I liked the timing in 13:34, shpwing that Apollo knows that getting a question wrong means he has a chance to earn a snack, but then proceeds to give the exact same wrong answer 😂
I want a bird phone! 🤣 I find it fascinating how Apollo understands when you’re not talking to him but to someone else, and he stops answering questions and moves away. That seems to indicate a complex understanding of communication. This was a really interesting and entertaining video and I would love to see more like this!
I love your training method, we have been trying this with Tilda, (dad even touches with mouth before giving answer) although she doesn't show a lot of interest at the time, she certainly has been learning her colours, we find it very hard because she doesn't like talking infront of dad (he spends most time with Tilda) soon as dad leaves her alone she resites most of what dad was trying teach Tilda, and only really mimics dad, it's dad that feeds Tilda (she loves him feeding her by hand ie fruit and vegetables) she's very friendly with dad, steps up every time, plays with him (on her terms 🤭) and all that just never speaks while dad is around 🤭 Dad is the only male Tilda likes but she does like all females and children, again I love your training method watching you and Apollo is just a joy ❤ he's just so adorable
this is a great video funny, cute, i learned something, dalton and tori talked on in the burb phone i totally love when tory and dalton challenge one another over somethjng VERY small and tory just kinda laughs … like this is just silly it reminded me of when my ex and i would walk and play with MY dogs that I trained FOR A LONG TIMand he would critique every dumb thing ever. but we still had a good time. and the dogs got lots of treats
i wonder if he will start modelling behvaiiour as the "teacher" with Dalton and Tori take positions interchangable. He might start trying to be the question asker. (althogh he has no snacks to give?)
have you guys seen Jen C's videos? She has taught her birds to use a tablet to communicate and done studies with NWU - even earned an award. I'm wondering how apollo and even the girls would do with tablet communication? She does have a resource called "parrot kindergarten" maybe y'all can colab!
Really proud of seeing daltons progress, he's come a long way!
That's right. I saw an improvement, too.
😂
I like that Apollo answered wrong when it was dalton’s turn, but when it’s his turn he gets it right! He’s like a kid

The "throw rag" at 8:09 when Apollo just looked mind blown for a long time was absolutely hilarious!
His mind exploded for a second there
"Do not throw rock from glass-k house"
Words to live by
I like how you just casually pick up Solei or Ophelia and they don't protest.
Lol our GC conure is the same way! He's like okay, guess we're doing this now... 😂
13:50 Soleil gets WWE smack downed, proceeds to do a silly walk
I cracked up at that silly walk!
Hahahahahaha ! That's hilarious😂😂

My brother visited recently and played Smash Bros. Whenever he plays as Piranha Plant, he insists on imitating Apollo's _"plant!"_
What made of? Win.
Ok but whenever he uses Side + B he also has to say "touch purple"
@@ApolloandFrens😂 I second this!!

This was delightful. Very fun how all 3 birds are competing together.
I really enjoyed this kind of video, but the cherry on top is Tori's editing 😂the little squeaks, the zooms, pans, cuts just really add to it

this is great, nice editing Tori
Tori's progress is impressive, good job! She'll be on Apollo's level in no time!
"now kiss" I was thinking the same thing 😹 gotta love them harmless intrusive thoughts!
Apollo went into the "freeze like statue" form of self-preservation.🗿😂 8:05
"That was close one, it almost got me!" 😂
Lol that was great... I thought they paused it for a few seconds! 😂 Totally going to try to teach my conure the BANG play dead trick, sooo cute!

Yeah, he used to say Bell separately, now he says the sentence @@Vman979_
OMG Apollo's head nod and when Tori throws the purple ball at Apollo's tail...I can't even, this video is way too cute
I love it when he says hat
Haha the editing is soooo good on these! Almost as entertaining as the birds!
I just love when you pick the girls up like they're misbehaving bananas
Wonderful effort as always Apollo!

me too, I just need the stach

Both are cellulose I guess

I really need a shirt that says "do not throw rock from glassk house". That was a great call Tori!

I found myself saying "YES!" along with Dalton when Apollo got stuff right. . I'm too invested in this bird
Who knew a leaf of cabbage could be so versatile! There’s something so adorable about a bird pushing a mini shopping cart ❤
Right?? I want one lol my Gizmo would probably love it!
That thumbnail is great! Made me chuckle 😀
"Now kiss"

love seeing the birds being trained so candidly. also love your interactions, yall are a very entertaining couple

love how tori and dalton are just talking about finger-gun details

7:40 The final nail in the coffin for the "they're secretly giving the parrot cues" theory. Apollo: "Throw bottle?"
9:25 broke me I was not expecting a ADTR reference in my talking bird content
the freak out at 8:07 is hilarious
Bonus points if Apollo knows what a “doot doot” is!
at points im like (was that apollo or tori talking)
We make that same mistake often 😅
One of the big reasons we caption Apollo
Soleil being manhandled unable to speak "👁 👁"

In my next life I want to come back as one of Dalton and Tori's birds.
I love the close ups on Apollo when you can see the gears turning 😂
6:56 Ah, yes, poetry.
Apollo@8:09:"wtf mom?"
I think Apollo is giving Dalton the wrong answers so he doesn’t get his pistach 😂
the thumb has always been the hammer, that's how you do it
