Haha no kidding 😂It was the first deck I got when I started getting into street/park skating. Loved it 🙌 Thanks John. Hope you found a detail or two helpful💪
@@SarahParkMatott ok, so i literally just filmed the video, couldn't do it, but, i didn't actually listen to the details, just watched you do them, and now i super regret it, because i was trying to scoop it, and not pop, and you're right, it banged every part of my leg. gonna try more tomorrow now that i know your pop secret.
@@JohnHill ahh 😂 yeah. It can be done more as a “calf wrap,” but it never worked for me. Just bruises all over for days haha But the pop and scoop was much easier after getting the hang of it. Hope that unlocks it for you too 💪
I just can't say enough good things about Sarah's videos. She breaks everything down, gives you the good and the bad, numerous helpful demos, and a cheerful, infectious attitude. i learned these from Mike V's Hurley part. I saw & learned the Nollie version years l8r, thought it was the weirdest thing and i still don't like them as much. Nothing like getting that scoop and having that confidence you're gna do the greatest, stupidest, most funnest trick ever lmao Flamingos have been a favorite of mine for a long time.👌
I use that positioning to grab the board when stepping out of it, can do it at a high speed, so thrilled to try a trick with a positioning and a pop in so familiar with❤
I used to do a modified version of this trick. Instead of using my back foot to pop, I would go full nollie, then pop with the very top of my front toe, rotate 90, catch with my back leg, 90 out. Might be useful to anyone who’s having trouble with the back foot pop.
This is great, thank you! I can get into the wrap but always struggle with unwrapping again. Definitely got some good pointers there to help me nail it. I agree with the bruises comment as well, it’s a brutal one to learn 😄
Thanks! Glad to hear it might help! Yeah, unwrapping it is really hard to get consistent. But luckily the body does start to get used to it after a while😄 hope you get it to unwrap!! (And for real...the bruises🤦♀️)
I’m watching the way you do this and the creative juices are flowing. I am seeing that you tend to make a 90 on the unwind as opposed to a full 180. This has me thinking about axle stalling on the mini to flamingo to tail stall or disaster and then drop/roll back in. It seems like it would look pretty rad if done smoothly.
@@SarahParkMatott I’m kinda having a hard time getting this out of my head. If my calf doesn’t fall apart the first time I pop an Ollie I legit think I can pull this off in a short time. I have never done this trick but it makes sense to me. I used to do a lot of no comply variations and this is kind of similar. If fed ex hasn’t betrayed me again my hybrid setup (street + Anderson dragons) should get here today. My goal is to get this combo in three months. I’m setting it right now. That’s the goal.
This looks like a super cool trick. 👀 Thanks for breaking it down, I will give it a try sometime. I want to get more consistent with my no-comply 180s since it looks like that will be helpful for flamingos too. I like how learning/practicing certain movements will help you improve other tricks with similar components.
The flamingo is hella fun! I don't know why it's not more popular 😬 But you're right about that. These tricks and movements feed into one another and help you learn the next one. Good luck getting more consistent with your no comply 180s!
There are actually two skateboarding tricks that are both called flamingos. Which is confusing. Check out Mike Osterman's flamingo and he explains the other style.
Literally came here looking to learn flamingos and noticed you skating my board 😂 hell yeah

Is that a hook ups? My first street setup back in 96ish was a hook ups! I still have the broken corpse in my garage.

watching your video is so peaceful
Thank you 😃
Love this
That flamingo looks so clean!
Thanks😄🙏

yeah i tried it recently and the scoop only works like 1 out of 10 times for me. will definitely play around with this foot stance. ty for the video.

I have never even heard of this trick, or at least heard it named - you do them great, looks awesome
Ah thanks! I love how these look 🙌
awesome video. i like that you really try to explain the tricks in every detail.
Thanks John! I try to go into as much detail as I can or make another video if I miss something 💪 Glad you liked it!

hell yeah 💪 that'd be sick done smoothly

Awesome video Sarah, the level of detail you go into is great. Going to give the flamingo a try next time I’m on my board.
Hi Kieran! Thanks! :) Give it a go. It's such a fun trick once it becomes more consistent (although getting there is tough haha)
Awesome. I'm gonna try these soon. My board is really heavy though so it will be a challenge
This was a great trick tip! Definitely that one trick that gives me bruises for sure!
Thanks Dom! Glad you liked the trick tip😄👊 we know the flamingo pain😂

Great video!
I was taught to pop the board, grab it with my my hand and let then my leg do the work while my hand would help guide it.
That sounds like a pretty good method 💪
I'm prepared for them bruises😂 thanks so much for this video❤
😂😂take them on!! And good luck 😄💪
i'm going to try learning that one next :D
Yes! You can do it. It is so much fun once you get it :D
This is such a good trick tip! Thank you! I want to try these, but will it even count if I do it without that amazing Sailor Moon Board???
Haha 😂 it will definitely count. The sailor moon board is indeed my power up card tho💪
I like this trick i do a flamingo too
Yes! I love this trick :D
Thanks for actually doing a tutorial and not just flexing your skills with a "tutorial"
Mikes O. And freestyletricktips show flamingo as another trick. I was expecting yours.
haha 😂 Yeah, the flamingo in freestyle skating is that single footed backwards carve. Not similar at all, but they have the same name.
There are actually two skateboarding tricks that are both called flamingos. Which is confusing. Check out Mike Osterman's flamingo and he explains the other style.
yeah, that's the freestyle flamingo 😃
Bardzo efektowna jest ta sztuczka ale niestety jeszcze jej nie umiem bo wygląda na trudną ;((
To jest trudne. Ale praktyka pomoże! 😃💪
P rod primitive Sailor moon ❤
Sarah is not joking, I now have a huge bruise and my knee is swollen from the board flying up and smacking it multiple times. Wear knee pads people!
