The only other game me and my brother played was Doom 3 but the Doom Marine's face was immediately revealed. I'd love if it became part of Canon that the reason we never see his face is because of his own beliefs. He is aware of the Morale and Legend he brings, and while he doesn't like it, he deeply cares for and respects his Marine comrades. So he leaves the helmet on so the legend survives, knowing that if he ever was seen with it off, the legend is broken and the Morale is gone. He goes from Myth to Man.
