    I never understood why people criticized Acura for having a lot of buttons. I personally think it looks cool and once you learn what the buttons do everything is logically laid out. I have a feeling it was more of a problem with auto reviewers rather than the buying public. My uncle has a Sliver Advanced package and he says it’s the best car he’s ever owned.

    I have this exact vehicle, color and all. It's been great for hauling our dog around and we now tow a pontoon boat with it. We had an oil consumption issue as many with the same motor did, but Acura took care of it free of charge. Couldn't be happier with our AWD MDX!!

    Jet black custom 2013
    Acura MDX Advanced.
    Identical to the ones in Captain America! But even more epic!
    I named him ONYX
    11 years, and half my life of dreaming, it is even better that I could ever imagine!
    Doing some epic modifications and custom work in the coming years!
    I’ve done a few awesome ones 6 months in.
    Completely restored the interior and exterior, including the rust!
    And put around 300 hours of hard work into the truck!
    I did the best that I could with my tools and a low college student budget.
    I don’t own many tools, because I have nowhere to store them.
    I had mechanically refurbished the engine, transmission, catalytic converter, power steering, and more to list.
    I baby the truck!
    I will insure will last it until I am 30.
    But life happens, and nothing is guaranteed.
    I learned that with my beloved old 2004 MDX Tech. (Maximus).
    A computer virus from a 2006 navigation system(Trojan horse)
    very very unfortunately killed all of the computing units! It killed Maximus. I cried privately for weeks!
    7 years (age 14-21), 220,000 miles, many fun and sad experience later, road trips, and memories.
    That truck was my life!
    I loved Maximus more than any (romantic) relationship that I’ve been in through my youth.
    People can be shallow.
    Maximus was not only my vehicle, but my passion.
    Still sitting in my driveway for 6 months. R.I.P old flame. 🔥

    The button issue is a bit silly and I feel this reviewer is grasping at something to criticize. Yes, at first glance it's a bit daunting, but we adult humans have this amazing ability to master processes and systems and develop muscle memory and spatial awareness. If you take about 20 minutes to familiarize yourself with the controls, it starts to make sense. Given a day, you start to master it. A week later, it's a non-issue. Ever seen the cockpit of a 747? Now THAT has a lot of buttons and yet pilots don't burst into tears every time they sit down to fly.
    Ironically the next generation MDX eliminated virtually ALL the buttons and replaced it with a touchscreen, and what do people hate about that MDX? It has no buttons!

    • @Maxfli82
      @Maxfli82 5 років тому +5

      The Mighty Cass agreed. I had an 2012 MDX Advance with rear dvd and it had every button possible on the MDX. I loved having all those buttons. Felt like sitting in an airplane cockpit. I did master it. Looked nice lit up at night.

      @@dclay8412 I have a 2011. It's a really nice car. In the 2.75 years I have owned it only issue has been a faulty fuel injector. Only thing I don't really like is the way the 6-speed shifts - it goes from 1st to 2nd VERY quickly and it has a sensation like the engine is hesitating. I miss that smooth longer pull from 1st to 2nd in a 5-speed. But other than that and some clear coat fade near the sunroof it has been trouble free.

    This guy complains too much about the buttons!! The driver's seat is the cockpit, it's SUPPOSED to be busy and the technology package requires additional controls! How many buttons does he think it should have 2?? If the buttons intimidate you then don't buy it.

    • @Lucky8s
      @Lucky8s 8 років тому +2

    The 2011/2012 Acura MDX is truly a car of its time. I can't think of any other SUV i've been in made from 2010 to 2012 that can match this car. It can do it all. It has a great AWD system, nice technology, very comfertable to be in, drives extremley well espeically for weighing over 4,000 pounds, and has plenty of power to it. It can toe some small to mid sized trailiers and smaller boats with no issue. Just recenlty sold ours, but it has 160,000 + miles on it and is still going strong. Only issue with the car was that it bured oil, but mysteriously you could not smell it burning oil at all. Only sign of it was it losing a quart of oil every month or two. Acura recalled this car due to that issue, and rellacing/fixing the piston rings in the engine seemed to fix the issue ever since.

    Acura performed an exit study to find few used 4WD off-road. They decided to try to utilize it more for on-road handling and developed the SHAWD. I like the way they think and you want your family in this for snow, ice and such weather. Only one of many reasons I have one.

    I don’t understand why they don’t think the sh-awd is a good idea it’s amazing it’s the best awd system I’ve ever owned and it’s great for the snow I don’t know why you wouldn’t want the option to have it there’s absolutely no reason not to have the option to have it if you really don’t want it just get the fwd. It makes no sense why they’re complaining lol. The only reason why I bought the car because every other awd system in other cars were trash and this one is amazing for moderate off-roading and driving in a snow

    luckly ...actual demographics - younger families will appreciate and are capable of handling all those buttons.....you live with that car, you learn to use it's idiosincracies and then only thing that matters is the fact that you have some kick ass technology in there. Oh and very capable AWD is bad too??? Guess what, not every family with 3 kids wants a bus......some people like to drive off the beaten path and then it's crucial to have actual real deal AWD not the pathetic joke of AWD Toyota and Honda offers in their products .....so there...if you need 3 rows of seats, decent AWD and little bit higher ground clearance....oh and cargo area that is not a joke...there are only 2 vehicles on the market right now MDX and mazda cx 9. If you want to buy new and can afford luxury models, all the power to you, you have way more to choose from

    The dash with soo many buttons is just useless and unnecessary. The comfort seats, the engine, and the torque vector SH AWD, make it a unique car that makes the handling & drive fun. Inclement weather is not an issue with SH AWD specially in snow. I ownee my MDX for 13 years and i live my car. Yes, fuel efficiency is not existent, best i see everyday is about 17.5MPG sometimes in highway driving i can see 21-22 mpg but that is rare. By the way my MDX is. 2011, was built in Japan, after 2 generation, the MDX was built in USA.
