Absolutely enjoyed it!!! Never a dull moment hanging with you. Boys with their toys! I wanted to join the rock throwing game. Explosion! Look at Billy Goat run, lol! All your pics just amazing Jay. Voting 2 for Mike to host! Still make me queasy on that trestle. Proud of you for conquering so many times. Incredibly fun video! :)

The journey to your destinations are always worthwhile. Can’t explore myself so I love the outside trips, disappointment last a moment, if you don’t find your destination, enjoyment so much longer. I’m quite deaf, so music if not intrusive is alright, it has its place. I prefer the natural sounds, people talk, & the nature that encompasses it all! Thanks again.

Once when I was much younger, climbing a mountain in Connecticut, I loved the moss carpet so much so I brought a bunch home & put it around several plants! The beauty was fleeting as it killed all of my house plants, about forty plants! Live & learn. Thanks for doing the climbing.

Agreed, I used to cross one of these all the time as a teenager and even then I usually stayed as close to the middle of it as possible so I wouldn't catch a glimpse down over the edge.

Being an adventurer myself. I love hanging out with you and exploring. I am always saying wow that is too cool. Keep on Keeping on my friend. I was up one night and couldn't sleep. I don't get on youtube. and have no idea what possessed me that night. But I was up for hours, the intrigue never stopped, and I am addicted. Thank you very much. The mission was to find a missing boxcar. The adventure took on the many twists and turns of exploration and discovery. In the end THAT is what it's all about isn't it?! Now I have to go back and rewatch so many, so I can comment on the specifics that made me go wow. lol Thanks JP

Like Cliff says sometimes you go out and don't find what you are looking for, so not finding the train car was unfortunate, but understandable. I look forward to watching your videos and Cliffs videos. For those of us who like history what you are doing is always interesting and helps us see back into the past. Being able to hear the sounds of the woods and the running water is an extra treat too. The video's both you guys did on the abandoned town of Green Vale made me wish I could have seen it before it was destroyed, by the interstate. It is just my opinion but I think what you are doing is perfect the way it is, so please keep up the good work and thank you.

Not sure how I missed this video but watched it on Friday. In a way the trip sort of reminded me of another search by a group of guys, along the rails looking for a kid and getting into all sorts of things along the, from leeches, to junkyard dog, to bridge where they had to jump because a train was coming and ran into a bunch of toughes.
Hmm, if I could only remember that story :)

You did have the correct location for the old boxcar. Last time I saw it there was in 2008. When I returned to the area in 2011 it was gone. It was at a time scrap metal was high so no doubt someone cut it up for scrap. Around 23:00 in your video where the one guy is walking a grade above the Erie, that was the level track of the PCC Gravity Railroad, plane 21 level. In several places the gravity railroad track ran close to the Erie since the Erie was the replacement for the gravity railroad.
At 9:00 in your video, the remains you see were the old Nay Aug Brick Works. Bricks were manufactured there. Your notation about the bridge being rehabbed is somewhat correct. As of now the bridge has been re-decked and if you look on my channel I have drone video before and after. I-380/84 bridges are going to be torn down and replaced and they are using the old railroad bridge to access construction vehicles across Roaring Brook. After that is done, parts of the Erie line are planned for a rail-trail. The main part of that would be from across the bridge to Elmhurst, it parallels route 435 all the way. I also took drone video of that area since it will be changed. I am not sure how much will be a rail-trail on the side you walked because its landlocked. The area where the rails are still present is not formally abandoned, listed as "out of service" it is the divide where the line was severed in 1972 and the other remaining section was in use up to 1983. Rumor has it they want to raise the section of the bridge over the active tracks to allow passage of taller cars but I can't find the article now. It would think it would be too expensive to do it for a walking trail so my guess is once the bridge replacement project is complete, that section of the bridge (the girder part) will be removed.

I used to go wheeling back in the area where the train car was about 15+ years ago. If my memory is correct, it was right before the area that was washed out. We used to be able to ride right through until it washed out, then we had to go up to the left and poke around the trails up there. I was there one time during hunting season I think on a Sunday and a bunch of people were shooting up the rail car. No hunting in PA on Sundays back then, so it was safe to ride the trails without pissing any hunters off. Follow the old rail beds in the area and you'll come across other old railroad bridge piers that are very tall spanning a valley. Also lots of old lakes and reservoirs along the old rail bed that I think back in the day, ice blocks were cut from the lakes and put on rail cars and sent to NYC for refrigeration.

Those wells are very dangerous they should have a metal plate on top of them. What if some one walking in the woods with snow on the ground you would never see those holes. I do know you will be finding treasures in that woods, its amazing what is all in the woods.I am glad you men have a good time, why not, you are 18 forever, who wants to get old anyway. You gyes are a blast. I think you all did a fantastic job. I can't get over how much stuff is actually in the woods. Walking above on that rail road track would frek me out, that too dangerous in my opinion. Heights normally don't bother me but over water that's a different question cause I don't know how to swim.

Hersherys extra creams sound good. Don't think I could handle beef jurkey, you have to have strong teeth for that, you're going to find that out when you get older. Good finds.
