Our Klee Kia lived for 17 years & was a wonderful family member. We live in Florida & at that time found one breeder in North Dakota & we traveled around 2,000 miles. He was black & white with long hair! We also had a red & white husky! Great video guys!
Mine though not a Pomsky or Klee kai, completely different breed also lived for 17yrs he would have been 18 this year been about a year since he passed...
After working at a dog hotel, I remember vividly one of the pomskys I met was full sized as a Siberian but was colored so oddly blond/pale, it really hammered the point in that when you mix 2 pure breeds there is no control over how much of either parent will win out, you can get anywhere in between and only long term breeding can regulate the size.
Trying to find a pomsky to adopt currently lol. Your videos have been a great help for my research on the breed and how to properly care for and understand them
This is so fascinating! A layperson would never know any of these distinctions. I will never look at these breeds in the same way again, and I may actually be able to tell them apart!
I have two pomskies and my two are on the smaller side. My boy is 15lbs and my girl is 10lbs. People always ask me about their size and I tell them it’s totally unpredictable. Even two small pomskies can have puppies that grow up to be larger than both parents. I think people just assume that they’ll be small dogs.. but I’ve seen a lot of pomskies that are 40+ pounds. They’re definitely an eye catching breed! We always get people asking what they are!
@@JamesandLaurent he’s been a very responsible pup actually all month! Barely barks, has learned commands well. Potty training has been a bit rough in the apartment with his initial moving stress digestive issues. Those have mostly subsided and he’s been just about the best apartment dog I could ask for!
Love the video. I'm newly widowed and considering a Pomsky or Klee Kai. We have had Huskies (pure bred) since the early 90's-- just love them and their awesome personalities. However, now that I am alone, I don't know if I should dare adopt another Husky--they are a larger dog/tend to be clever and on rare occasion has slipped out of the fenced area (we kept ours indoors A/C live in southwest FL!)-- but we have a little fenced area. Bottom line---you covered the physical differences wonderfully--I learned a lot-! I'm wondering though if the Pomsky might be a bit more of a closer range dog (considering the Pomeranian personality which I've read a lot about). Any thoughts on personality or traits on each breed here?
We obviously know a lot more about Pomskies than Klee Kais. We have multiple videos about Pomskies on our channel. You can start by one called '5 things I wish I knew before getting a Pomsky'.
First of all-thank you ever so much for taking the time to answer!!! OMG! I am blown away here. Honestly, we (when hubby was alive until March 2023), have owned (or were owned by, 4 Siberians since the 90's. Our first one Tasha was scary smart (they're ALL smart)-but she was unbelievable -as well as an escape artist. However, we realized that we just loved the breed and went on to get her a buddy after our first dog (an Old English Sheepdog), passed. Our last Siberian passed (well she had to be euthanized:( last Oct '22) -- she had been a rescue as a young puppy-- had been abused:( we took her and our son took her mom (we think her mom as they were found together with rusty chains grown into their necks--just horrific). Anyway- now that hubby is suddenly gone, I am now feeling so lonely and missing our Sophie (she did live a full life --we had her for nearly 14 years). I thought a Pomsky might be the answer (i.e. smaller and more manageable now that I'm in the 'senior' category lol! Also would get me out more to walk. Well I now need to go back to do more research--thanks to your wonderful video (and as tempting as a darling Pomsky might look, I am not going to follow through:))-- I'm assuming the 'sister' mini (Klee Kai) may have similar attributes.:( Maybe I will go back to my original thoughts--- Pomeranian:)
We don't know much about papillons, but Pomsky puppies are a lot of work and a lot of energy to handle. Make sure you watch our videos Pomsky 101 and 5 things I wish I knew before getting a Pomsky.
Not all Pomskies look like Klie Kie's. Mine is a 9 lb Merle pattern with blue eyes. Everyone thinks she is a mini Australian Shepherd. And thank you for the vids you put out. When my daughter wanted a Pomsky, your vids helped me decide. She is an absolute treasure! I actually want to get another one later!
Cool video but I just want to point out one inaccuracy. To get a pure breed Alaskan Klee Kai you have to breed two Alaskan Klee Kai together (no mix of 2 different breeds). The video talks about the original mix from back in the early 80’s. You are correct about the designer mix of Pomskies. Husky and Pomeranian.
We're sorry that our video was confusing. It was meant to talk about the origin of Klee Kais. Since it is a mix between multiple breeds, we never meant to give the recipe of how someone could breed a Klee Kai from scratch. On the Pomsky side, most Pomskies nowadays are bred from existing Pomskies. It has become more and more rare to find an F1 Pomsky. Thanks for your comment.
This is perfectly confirms that my rescue pomsky is really a klee kai. We have organizations, like klee kai Facebook group who have rudely denied us because we don't know her breeder. She was abandoned at a friend of mines house and my boyfriend and I immediately fell in love 🥰❤️
I have four Klee, Two are toys only 13 pounds. One short haired and one long hair. One mini 18 pounds she's short haired and one standard, short hair. Good information but as you know, you will always get asked what kind of dog is that...bottom line is buy both breeds from a reputable breeder...
I have a Klee Kai (my service dog) and recently took in a pomksy because the owner was irresponsible and couldn't care properly for the dog. She bought the pomsky rashly because of how cute it is. The pomsky probably comes from an disreputable backyard breeder. The Pomsky barks more than the Klee Kai, is extremely food driven, likes to dig more, and enjoys playing in water more. The pomsky is mostly brown and doesn't have that husky pattern. The Pomsky will likely grow slightly bigger than my Klee Kai based on how big her paws are at her early age. Both had horrible diarrhea as puppies, requiring very expensive gastro-intestinal puppy food. They both require a lot of exercise, at least an hour of running at the dog park, if not more.
We don't know enough about Klee Kais character to feel comfortable making a video about that topic. But from everything we know, there are lots of similarities: high energy, escape artists, high prey drive, etc.
Stupid question but where I am from Norway designer dogs are controversial not just because of the breed but because who buys them can be people who don’t care about dog health. The mum is 75 husky though while the dad is 51 husky, 38 Pomeranian& 10 American Eskimo which I’m confused about ! I just wanna make sure he’s gonna be more husky looking.
For 4K, the breeder should have a track record and be able to tell you what their Pomskies are going to look like. That's what you're paying for. A little bit of Eskimo is becoming more common. As some breeders are trying to make Pomskies an official breed, they need to introduce a third breed in the mix. Klee Kais, which are also mini-Huskies have some Eskimo in them. But, yes. With a mom that is 75% Husky and a dad that is 50% Husky, the odds of your Pomsky being more Husky-looking should be better.

Another thing - because Klee Kais often have skinny legs, you can often see them 'cross' their paws. It is a common Klee Kai trait. Klee Kais are not an official breed in Australia, so they go for $9,000AU each :(

Plural is Klee Kai.
Thanks for the clarification. We've seen it both ways.
But Poms, Ekimo's, Spitz are all related to each other.
Yes, they are related.
never found klee kai in my country
Where is your country?
I find it crazy that a mix is more expensive than a purebred 😳
A lot of people may not value purebreds that much.
If I had to make a mixture I would use an Alaskan Klee Kai with Wolfspitz with Pomeranian Spitz, maybe a little hairy Chihuahua, to have a pocket wolf, it would be a super hairy pocket and in Lua Cheia it would be a devil puppy. Here at home, we adopted a non-pure Pinscher, it looks like a little devil, I had to know what type of breed she was to buy the food, that of other dogs and cats is not suitable.
That's an interesting mix :).
Yeah, yeah
I want both doggys!🐶
