  • Jim Trowbridge's first built the Colorado and Western in HOn3 in his basement in the Denver area back in the 80's. Over a decade later he tore that down and rebuilt it in On3.
    **********************************************************
Structures are amazing, and there are many of them. The star of the structures is the Como roundhouse kit by Colorado Models, each stone hand painted one at a time.
    **************************************************
The railroad was on the layout tour of the 2017 narrow gauge convention in Denver Colorado. The 37th National Narrow Gauge Convention took place August 30th through September 2nd 2017 in Denver, Colorado - Always a fan favorite narrow gauge convention location. The convention was held in The Marriott Denver Tech Center. This was one of the spectacular layouts on the layout tour.
    ******************************************************************
Jim is also well known for his charter freight train trips, which he organized back in

I love Jim's model train layout!! Totally done to perfection! I LOVE his story from years ago, when Jim tells about a female locomotive engineer, Marty Fisher... How she was able to do her share of the work, and not blink an eye! Then... running out of coal, and having to shovel coal from one train to the other.. and burning what they could, until they could reach "safety"... Team work... Everyone coming together, and working together, to achieve a solution! I have shoveled coal before... from the back of a truck into a coal room.. as we use to heat our house with coal, when I was a kid and living at home. Then... turn around and help my grandparents unload coal at their house. It's WORK! Dirty work! To shovel coal from one tender to another tender.. I guess one would need some long strong arms, and stamina! I also loved the model of the Como Roundhouse! Each rock painted individually... and it took Jim a year to complete that roundhouse!! AMAZING!
    Hats off, and thankYou Jim!

As the one shooting video, I sometime get to "avoid" busting my back on the "hard work" So I try when I can to dive in and get er done!!! Then back to the camera when I'm beat. "OH!! I need to grab some shots!! Be right back!!!! (Yea, as soon as I catch my breath. Feel free to carry on!!) BUt the train crews never catch a break. Some super hard work!!!!! Everyone want's to be an locomotive engineer until they spend an hour firing. Then they want to be a software engineer!!

Yeah, their really marvelous layouts! I am noticing, it combines a 1:48 O scale with large, 19.05mm tracks. Though twice as large than H0 scale, On3 has the advantage of lots of ready-to-roll cars, locomotives, and tracks. (bit.ly/2gX2XnE or bit.ly/2gVNdBg )

To answer your first reply; that sound really cool that there's going to be a similar event for you guys so I'm glad you guys still get to have fun. And as for what scale, I think I might go with HOn3. I'm a Colorado native and I love this states railway heritage so I think it would be fun to model things like the Como Roundhouse and Pueblo Steel Mill. (PS. Thank you for giving a shout out about the Como Kit! I was almost considering making one from scratch but you saved me the trouble of hunting small stones!)

Honestly, if it wasn't for some of your, "Screwing around" many of us would never see amazing things that y'all show. The idea of dove tailing older footage is wonderful. As for your Narrow Gauge coverage, we are going to miss seeing more. All good things must come to an end, we guess. On to the next adventure. Great Stuff!!! Greg and Jeanne.

Hi guys. Hope all is well there!! We screwed up and put tow shows up together. Not the plan... BUT all good!! And in some ways, better for us today. Angel, our little dog, got very sick yesterday and died late last night. We knew this was coming. She was 16 and the vet said to expect it. Some problem... Brain tumor? Didnt know.. So glad we had time with her. Always reminds us the today is the only thing you really have. ANYWAY. Hope you guys are WELL.

At least I'm not the only one that gets called "Tollbridge." Trollbridge, Toe-bridge, Thornbridge are others. Basically, if it starts in T and ends in bridge, I'll answer to it. Trowbridge rhymes with rowbridge, just with a T on front.
Great video (as always). I hope you keep having fun 'screwing around' for a long time.

In high school I answered to "hay you". Not a lie!!! My nick name was YOU!!. In the third person, Himself.... "Ask himself" Weird. Also, most people think Angell is Angle. Nope. Angell, as in Angell's camp in California. Now days mis spelled Angel's Camp.

    • @la-platadurango1618
      @la-platadurango1618 6 років тому

Ahh.. What's in a name??? My mom varied the spelling on all of her kid's names.. I have to explain all of the time... Karen.... but spelled K-a-r---Y-- n. "Y"??? Yes... Y-n. Then... my previous last name... FELIX. Felix... like... Felix the cat?? That's the one! Working in education, I decided to capitalize on that! Felix the Cat adorned my room! When my students learned that I was getting married... To an Angell, no less... They were really excited!! Missus ANGELL!! All is fine and good!!

As a kid I thought the guys named Jon had the cool name. That and Maynard. Tom Dick and Maynard.. Just a nice roll from the tongue. Totally hip. 100% cool.

I know several women named Karyn. One was one of my daughter's ballet instructors. Great lady! I'm amazed at how many "unique" spellings of common names have cropped up just to be a bit different. My wife is a middle school science teacher. Sometimes I get to help grade and get the scores put in. Going through 6 classes, I've seen some pretty interesting spellings.
But I couldn't help but chuckle at hearing Tollbridge. I've always gotten a kick at how people mess up my last name. I'm called Russ a lot, too.

Dale, love this video, incredible layouts, great human interest stories. I try to watch every one of your videos. I don't know if you are familiar with a fellow by the name of Chris Lyon, he has a You Tube Channel too, (CNLVN) Chris just recently uploaded a video on his friend Bill Scobie's On30 Rio Grande Southern. ua-cam.com/video/FRYPyPUPOrQ/v-deo.html It's a good video. Chris has a playlist of Bill Scobie videos to binge watch if you so desire. I like the way Chris ends his videos "Every day is train day!" Now that I'm retired, like you, this and "screwing around" are my new catch phrases!
