hey I'm 11 months late, but u can be just as good at a mouse. tablet is just more popular for "pros" even though a mouse is a more common playstyle because it's generally more fun to screw around with
3 years late, but technically tablet is more accurate. The thing with a mouse is that as you move it around, your cursor gets offset slightly over time. Take your mouse and put it in the center of the screen, taking note of your hand position. Now shake your mouse around for a couple seconds, and return your hand to the same position. Your cursor won't be in the center of the screen anymore, even though you put your hand right back the way it started. That offset will screw you up in osu over the course of a map. Meanwhile a tablet will always have your cursor in the position relative to where your pen is on the tablet. So you put it in the center, move the pen around and do whatever, and when you put it back in the center, your cursor will go to that exact spot. Technically you can just readjust with a mouse and not worry too much, which is what the better mouse players do, but it becomes increasingly difficult to do the higher difficulty maps you're playing. A lot of times you don't have time to actually reset your mouse, so you just have to roll with it and your hand will end up in weird positions. You can play well with either mouse or tablet, but tablet is technically more accurate and (imo) easier to use at a base level as long as you're familiar with it.
