      It returning is complicated and unlikely to happen. Pavel Zagrebelnyj made Spintires and Oovee published it. It's Oovee's only game which was a hit with fans and cemented as a cult classic for sim games, and Pavel left on very sour terms. Pavel is now working at Saber Interactive, and has gone on to be a part of Mudrunner, Snowrunner, and Frontiers. If anyone wants to pick Spintires back up, they would have to legally work with Oovee. I've seen landmines far more discreet than that. Our best bet is a competitor with a different name from a different dev and pub.

    Many things that Spintires had could and should have been implemented into SR. I agree that pacing of the game is now higher than it was in Spintires and disbalance between trucks is becoming bigger by the day (new Yamal is a good example for comparison and pretty cool, but useless Twinsteer). And I had mentioned under one of your videos, the addons they are creating are sloppy. A good example is the new crane on Kenworth. Take a look on how ridiculously it is mounted. And guess what? If you dig into XMLs of their truck files, they do seem to have a lot of ideas, but they tend to be cut right before release? Example, KamAz Arctic. Did you know they had a unique cargo bed which is present in real-life model designed for it but opted out for standard 2-slot?

    • @SD1ONE
      @SD1ONE  11 місяців тому +14

      Yes, I did saw pics of those cut features like antarctic bed and other unfinished things in xml files....It looks like the pressure of putting out 4 major updates a year is getting to devs....Game is on like 8 platforms so that doesn't help either.

    • @Sklefasovsky
      @Sklefasovsky 11 місяців тому +3

      @@vladvulcan It's debatable :) If we only go by platform length, yes, this is the only truck that can have 4 slots and have a turn radius like Venus orbit, but unless you mod the XML, it can't even attach a trailer. So you are indeed limited to single 4-slot delivery with autoload option only. However, if you hitch a 5-slot semi to, say mAz 612, you will get a higher capacity with higher manoeuvrability and with a, useless as it may be, manipulator crane. Again, I am not diminishing TS, all I am saying it is overshadowed by newer trucks. At the time of release, few of the trucks had the engine as good as TS has, and poor GMC and WhiteStar could barely pull themselves in not so deep mud whereas TS was rocking, especially in AWD. Now you have Kolob, 605R, Derry, and the very same new Kenny and old fuel troglodyte 5600TS which in many aspects outperform TS. Regrettably.

    Spintires and Mudrunner has a more interesting system when you play with steering wheel, here you need to know how to use the clutch, because if you change gear without it, the truck take damage. Also, you have the control of the gears, you can use first when you want or third when you want. In Snowrunner... you can use only Low -, Low, Low +, H, Auto, N, and reverese. If you want drive with a specific speed, maybe in second gear, you can't do it because the game doesn't let you select the gear you want, and if you try to drive at 30km/h for example, the automatic gear It will start to go up and down because the script doesn't understand what you want to do. And if you don't use clutch, nothing happens, there is no penalty for not using it, like an automatic transmission...

    • @lucaprado544
      @lucaprado544 10 місяців тому

      honestly, from my experience with MudRunners, playing with a steering wheel is absolutely terrible, and the way clutch works is terribly unrealistic, FFB is very bland, I was hyped to test it with a wheel when I got mine because I really enjoy MR, but its a game clearly meant to be played with a keyboard, and its still super fun to play it with a keyboard. So I wouldnt really mind SR having a worse wheel support because it was never really meant to be played with one, but what hurts me is that SR is pretty much a downgrade from MR and ST in nearly every way except graphics

    • @gamingsport3592
      @gamingsport3592 10 місяців тому

      Yep, the force ffb is weird (that's why I never activated it in both games haha) but in my case it doesn't matter, is more "easy" to drive a 900° setting. The problem is when you're trying to "roleplay" while driving in Snowrunner. In my opinion, the MudRunner's clutch system should be in the Snowrunner at least like a option in the menu settings because it is a game "better" than the 2017 one. But it is what it is. 😪

    На самом деле абсолютно согласен с проблемой распределения веса в snowrunner. По сравнению с mudrunner в ней машины кажутся просто пластиковыми. По моему мнению причина этого не только перекрученная мощность двигателя, но и очень ограниченный ход подвески и рамы, что на большой скорости тебя может подбросить и перевернуть, если ты найдешь даже на небольшой камень. Также полностью согласен с фиговым балансом. Я заметил это ещё в начале прохождения, когда первым вездеходным грузовиком купил Азов и проехал с ним добрую половину игры, не нуждаясь ни в чём либо. Если так посмотреть, то по сути в snowrunner есть ну максимум штук 10 полезных грузовиков, которые тебе всю игру с DLS пройдут. Мне кажется эта проблема растёт из более аркадной физики, где вес машины ни на что по сути не влияе. Хотя подобное можно было бы исправить какимм нибудь аддоднами, которые необходимы для миссии, но которые можно установить только на один вид транспорта.

I generally don't use scouts because the moment they hit deep mud they are stuck fast while the bigger trucks can at least keep digging usually even with less than perfect tire choice. Overall I like both games and through modding and editing I have been able to create the experience that I prefer which at the end of the day I think we all should be grateful to be able to do.

    First of all, credentials: I have played about 350 hours in SpinTires, about 480 hours in MudRunner, and more than 1,500 hours in SnowRunner. You can say I love the franchise. All the points you make are fair. I especially agree regarding the confusing amount of tyres in SnowRunner compared to its predecessors, and about truck weight and handling. However for me, the two most frustrating things in SpinTires have been:
    1. Its crude and awkward user interface. Lots of fiddling with the mouse when a keyboard shortcut would have been much better (e.g. releasing the winch, starting/stopping the engine, and other things that are way better in SnowRunner). And don't get me started on that manual clutch.
    2. It is often TOO slow-paced an experience. SpinTires often seems much more focused on the physics simulation aspect (trucks and terrain behaviour) than to provide a more polished gameplay. The way trucks struggle in deep terrain is a joy to behold compared to SnowRunner, but when you cover 200 in-game meters in 20 minutes, it just becomes tedious. SnowRunner has moments like these, too, but they're not as heavy-handed. That's because they're compensated by having stronger trucks that pick up their pace when they're not stuck. In SpinTires, even in the best conditions, trucks sometimes feel _too_ slow, like you're driving with the handbrake on.
    For these reasons, it's clear to me that SpinTires is closer to being a simulation sandbox, while SnowRunner is closer to being a more structured game. And consequently SpinTires feels more realistic, while SnowRunner feels more 'arcade'. I honestly believe that MudRunner is a good compromise between the two, and it's the one I enjoy returning to when I'm not playing SnowRunner. If MudRunner had more than logging, it would be really cool. Fortunately modders have produced lots of fun maps to explore and conquer.
    This was a great video, anyway. Not sure how I feel about the AI voice, but the narration was interesting. Cheers! //Rick

    You can modify Spintires files by your own and make it more realistic or make the game longer. I added all tire types to all trucks (except if the tires are not good lookin, too small or too big) also added cart for long and medium logs to all trucks (same exceptions as tires I applied for this too) and at last i made loading logs to require full body with logs (small - 20 pcs, meduim - 10 or 15 pcs, long - 10 pcs). When you load small logs you get 1 point loaded instead of 2 originally, meduim get 3 points instead of 4, long get 4 points instead of 6.
    You can also apply these things to mod trucks you installed.

    So many of these comparisons are either cherrypicked, disingenuous, or missing the point entirely. In short, many of the features left behind in Spintires were superfluous - either gimmicks which stopped being interesting once you encountered them once or twice (like the collapsing bridge) or a complication that padded out the game time (such as having to individually load every single piece of cargo one by one). I've owned every form of this game since the beta back in 2013, and I recall almost quitting because doing small deliveries in Spintires was painfully tedious. In a game about driving trucks, I would much rather spend the bulk of my time doing just that. Forcing me to load every individual thing I have to deliver every single time doesn't enhance the experience beyond making the entire process take longer. I'd imagine most of the playerbase feels the same way, as Saber continues to put out new content for Snowrunner regularly to a still-growing community. The inability of a very small, yet very vocal minority of Spintires players to accept the changes made for Snowrunner will forever baffle me.
    On an unrelated note, the proofreading in this video is pretty poor. The amount of grammatical errors that made it through to final video make it seem lazy.

      What's wrong with been passionate about a game and wanting it to stay true to its origin? What does it matter to all those who are still enjoying the game if SD1one thinks the old game had a good things going for them? Not like he or the "minority" are gonna be able to reverse what's been done or stop the company from going where the money is no matter what it does to the franchise. Of course you don't understand the old player base who wishes the franchise had stayed its course, in your eyes, this game superior in many ways. If the roles were reverse and a game you loved turned into a shit show as it's community grew, you'd get it. Then again, maybe this happened to you already and you forgot how sucky it is in an era where the good franchises are dying one by one to lose the few games you really love. SnowRunner has been "time padding" pretty much from the first DLC giving us ridiculously harsh terrain only a few trucks could handle on many of the first 2 year's regions, deteriorating crossings you needed to use several time per map and endless numbers of deliveries to the same place. MudRunner had smaller maps, with less to do in each of them so they did what they could to keep us playing longer. SnowRunner did the same, just in a different way. Not saying I enjoy loading logs one by one...caus I really don't but, trying to stall us is a crime all the games in the franchise are guilty of.

      @@maxpower5205 There's nothing wrong with being passionate about a game. The problem is that every time I've encountered someone who still claims to be passionate about Spintires, that "passion" seems to manifest itself in one of two ways:
      1) comparing Snowrunner to it unfavorably and/or
      2) bitterness about Snowrunner becoming the future of the franchise, rather than this fantastical version of Spintires they want so badly
      None of the passionate Spintires players I've encountered can seem to come to terms with the fact that Snowrunner offers a lot over Spintires, most of which is much more important to the vast majority of players. All they ever seem to do is complain about everything that was taken away or changed from Spintires while ignoring all the changes, optimizations, and features added that have made Snowrunner so fun for so many people. A pretty good example is in this video, where after extolling the various features added to Spintires through the DLCs, he completely dismisses the ones added to Snowrunner without any real explanation. I'd take the ability to pack trucks on a flatbed over arbitrary no-go radiation zones any day of the week, as it's a feature I use regularly to save time and fuel.

      @@Sliphantom nostalgia can be a powerful thing man. I think how we perceive games is a mix of facts and preferences. We can state facts all day, but we can’t really argue about preferences.
      I used to be a top tier fan for a long time. I learned how to edit and started my channel just so I could share SnowRunner videos. I think most of the original fans from the old games, including myself, are fully aware of the amazing features and improvements SnowRunner got like multiple saves (eventually) superb graphics, huge,well designed and interconnecting maps, customizations, levelling , cargo variety and …snow.
      The thing is, those are facts, but they don’t hold the same value from one person to another, and perception changes.
      For me having a lot of choices and options when playing a game is a key factor, if those choices matter. Example; “World of Tanks”which I know you remember. :) After a few years the passion for SnowRunner started dropping when I realized you only needed about 5 of the 50+ tires we had, that I never purchased anything but the most efficient components of any types and that the pre-“game plus”mode levelling process prevented from using the 114SD in Michigan. This time they spent giving us the impression we had many options could have been spent carrying over let’s say, the manual transmission option from Mudrunner. I built this crazy driving rig just for this game, but because my wheel wasn’t supported at all, I ended up finishing the game sitting in my rig, holding an Xbox controller. Eventually the wheel started working and I figured out a way to use my shifter but to this day, my specific wheel base is still not supported officially and it’s gonna be 4 years soon. It’s a Thrustmaster high end wheel, not like I bought a weird unknown Chinese dollar store knockoff. Mudrunner recognized my wheel from day one and the manual transmission mode made the game 200% better for me so you can imagine my disappointment when I realized SnowRunner didn’t have that feature.
      They started off super strong, but the energy they had for the game pre launch seems to have faded and nothing they implemented after Taymyr (logging, crafting,scavenging) has really impressed me because they have used those features in a way that made those specific contracts tedious and grindy instead of technically challenging. My personal opinion, not a fact.
      This is how you start wishing for the old game to make a come back. When the new game’s “improvements” don’t actually make the game better for you.

    I never played Spintires but you're correct. SnowRunner physics are a joke, a few examples:
    1. It's clear that the terrain has some custom parameters which have nothing to do with the actual terrain, they just make it hard/easy at will. This is completely unrealistic and unnatural.
    2. Light snow seams to be harder than most mud. I've done some offroading in extreme snow-mud mix and light snow. Below half a meter of packed frozen snow does nothing for a truck, it will just power through it. In SR the truck struggles so much, it's a joke.
    3. They keep adding these "god mode" trucks to appease the mainstream gamers. This means you only want to use a few trucks and most are completely useless. As you stated, very heavy trucks are quite limited in where they can go IRL, in SR they can go anywhere they fit.
    Somehow I doubt the core development team is the reason for this arcade gameplay. It's the American and French publishing and directive side who want more and more arcade gameplay for more sales. I hope the core devs break away and make their own Spintires equivalent with modernised graphics.

    Can't say i disagree, i love Snowrunner and i think it improved ALOT over previous iterations but i would love if they added the preassure system and that preassure system made all the vehicles that sink and are useless to be useable like in the old Spintires, i still remember playing it and wanting the big trucks but sticking with the original blue rwd truck simply because it was better for the job.
    In Snowrunner you don't carefully choose the vehicles for the job, you pick the biggest most powerful truck and stick with it which is boring and leave other vehicles be totally useless.

    It would be hard for me to go back to Spintires, although I have the box with the disc, but the game is linked to my Steam account, which I lost years ago.
    I don't even know where you can buy it to play now.
    Regardless, I really like Snowrunner but
    physics is the reason I can't play it without Real Life Mod.
    This modification fixes what is wrong in the game and, above all, improves the driving physics to make them more realistic and more difficult.
    To be completely happy, you still need a realistic gearbox, preferably one from ETS2 / ATS.
    And I would also forget about the sounds, whatever I say, the trucks in Spintires sound much better and more like in the real world than their counterparts from Snowrunner.

    In Snowrunner, high gear kicking in and launching a huge truck in speed in rough terrain, like a rocket, is ridiculous...

      I am not against consoles but I feel they kind of kill innovation in games as both sony & microsoft has lot of standards to maintain and they won't allow experimental stuff...so spintires should only be PC only or atleast has a different PC version with all experimental stuff.

    In my opinion the most missed mechanics are the ability to change tire pressure, the bridge weight limits, chassis flex and i would like to see better crash physics as they feel unbelievably unrealistic in snow runner and very anti climatic. Also the weight classes in snow runner feel very off and unbalanced.

    Recently got back to playing Spintires after spending thousands of hours in SR, and... well, I hate it. Precisely of that highly praised feature that "every truck can get stuck even in light terrain". Once accustomed to fast-paced gameplay and highrange gearbox, there's no turn back. You become addicted. I hate having to go slow and use the lowest gears. And too many useful features that are standard in SR, are absent in ST. For example, refueling from a trailer that's not attached - or from another truck's tank. Or driving your friend's truck in co-op. You can't even see their headlights!

      I guess we already disscussed this enough last time that you don't prefer Spintires...that's ok...I am not suggesting any changes to SR...I just want revival of spintires as like side game with no association to SR devs...It would just be a game for OG players like me who still prefer slow pace gameplay.

      @@SD1ONE tbh, the graphics still looks neat to this day, but the playing experience is nowhere near Snowrunner (at least to me). Glad that the tire pressure is making a return in Expeditions. Hopefully we will get breakable bridges too as well!
      On a side note, I didn't know there were other cargoes than just logs! That's really cool. I played SHERP Ural Challenge back in 2019, but I did never try China Adventure.

    • @SD1ONE
      @SD1ONE  11 місяців тому +1

      @@vladvulcan The thing is SR is more polished game and Spintires is left to rot...things are unfinished in that game...its more like an experiment game that brings out new innovations, features, possiblities which can't be possible in SR because its a mainstream game....thus spintires isn't for everybody and it was never meant to be a mainstream game.....BTW China Adventure is best DLC of series...if you get your hand on it...give it a try...beautiful map & new cargo.

    I wanted to buy snowrunners, but then I played it on Gamepass and damn, the trucks felt like RC trucks, the game felt so dumbed down, filled with content that isnt really necessary, turned into a completely arcade game, it just threw me off so much, I decided to stay with just MudRunners lol
    It feels like they decided to go "full-corporate" in snowrunners, making a game more acessible, faster paced, brighter, more colorful, with a lot of unlockable stuff, a lot of modifications that are cool tbh, but still, and a lot of currency management, to keep people playing for longer, sacrificed quality for quantitiy.

    Finnishing something in snowrunner is like doing your homework, its annoying, takes a lot of time and it doesnt feel rewarding
    Finnishing something in spintires is like cooking a meal, although it can take longer, it feels much more rewarding, since you have to be more carefull, and taking shortcuts is a much bigger risk
    and i feel like theres only like 2 types of players,
    the OGs, and the kids, and i feel like theyre making it for them, to not get bored,
    its nice to have options, i like that, painting the truck to maybe match the addon? i really like that, beefy front bumper? i like, give it to me, but sometimes its overdone or underdone, no middle ground
    oh and i really like the audio effect of wheelspin, snowrunner is missing that
    overall verdict from me is:
    Snowrunner: 5/10
    (i like slot cargo and the graphics, and bit of truck customization, but id rather have gameplay over high graphics)
    Mudrunner: 7/10
    (challanges are an interesting idea, too dull when it comes to colours, lacks bit of content, reused maps from spintires)
    Spintires: 8/10
    (since you cant get much DLCs for it, its a shame, the game is nice, updated colours are a perfect touch)

    Nice and honest review❤. After a couple of hundred hours in Snowrunner and seeing Expeditions is not my cup of tea I've decided to give another opportunity to spintires and Mudrunner... And what a change! I didn't remember such a good physics. I've noticed as you say in the video that spintires is for no longer in Steam so I can't find and buy the DLCs for spintires. I own all the DLCs for Mudrunner and Snowrunner (despite I haven't played to Mudrunner for more than 20 hours). I really would like to give it a try to both first games now, but I don't now how to get Chernobyl and all DLCs from Spintires. Some advice or option?

    Spin tires was king, The trucks and add ons looked way better, it was so much harder and much more enjoyable because of that, as you said hauling long logs was the ultimate challenge and could take a couple of hours to do so, I think they had to make snow runner easier for the kids on playstation and xbox which is a pity
