- In this video, I tell you 3 reasons why engines lose power over time. As cars get older, they lose power (horsepower, torque, and throttle response). This happens because cars contain components that wear down and lose effectiveness over time. I talk about 3 of the main reasons why cars lose horsepower and torque as they get older and accumulate more miles on their engines.

Good lesson to learn for today thank you , my fuel pump probably weak now for 190K miles , I just changed the fuel filter but it’s still lose power when accelerating not like smooth like before .

Great vid on basics.my 03 tahoe runs like a champ but i keep up with maintenance seals gaskets plugs wires.she idles so smooth i can balance a nickel on the engine.keep throttle cable tight those get lose over time

#1 Reason for power loss is lack of maintenance
->If you forgot to replace the air filter dirt will build up on it and your engine will struggle to pull the air in and even pull the dirt in the engine as well.
-> the same story for air getting out, clogged catalytic converters, egr's will cause unncessarily high back pressure and it will make engine less efficient.
->low compression, either the piston rings are bad, valves are buggered with carbon build up.
-> Fuel Injectors buggered with dirt will indeed make it less efficient, making it run like shit, bad injectors on diesel engines will certainly provide the engine excessive fuel and create clouds of black smoke.
for petrol engines having carbon fouled spark plugs or spark plug gaps not set properly will make it less efficient and lose power
This is why fleet vehicles seems to go forever, they always do periodic maintenance
Hey man could u help me... Ive purchased this diesel 3 litre turbo van... Or fleet side 250kb Isuzu (its made in my country) so after a couple of times using it for the business it eventually just lost power and then started making a squealing noise when going uphill and has absolutely no power on any other gear besides... Should i take it to a machanic or is it something i could fix on my own... Yea my air filter was completely packed up with dirt...i did change it and the van did get abit more power but it's not what it was when i had bought it
@@Filez062 depends 🤷 usually when it loses power it's either the valves needs to be regapped
or the fuel injectors needs to be cleaned 🤷
if it bothers you, or if it really under performs you should take it to a diesel specialist mechanic
to have it tuned up.
doing it DIY without the proper tools and skill will mess the engine up.

Fuel does make a huge difference. I have a straight piped v8 that’s supposed to take 91+. Of course though I cheap out most of the time. However when I do run 91+ I get so much torque that when I let off my gas at over 4 rpms I get an insane amount of blow back coming out the exhaust. It’s ridiculous, but on the cheap shit my car hardly will even get near the same amount of torque at the same rpms, the blow back then is almost inaudible in comparison.

Can any one help me I know a lil something about cars but I've been haveing this problem for a week now at cold starts in the morning car has low power but cranks on a dime my exhaust is moded my pipe are not as loud car has some hesitation to it and one min my exhaust is loud and the next min my exhaust gets low sound wise I thanking it's the o2 sensor because it buck when down shifting and it a hellcat srt man this shyt has me pissed 😡🤬😡🤬😠

Driving down highway today and I went to pass and hit the accelerator and got nothing loss power and it felt like a few gears were missing
