- A unique performance documentary by filmmaker Jacques Holender, Juju Music features the urban popular tribal music of Nigeria known as juju. DVD available www.jacquesholender.com
The film includes an historic all-night juju concert in Lagos, featuring internationally known performers King Sunny Ade and Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey and Shina Peters. The concert is the first time in juju music history that all the top names in Nigerian popular music gathered before a film camera. A vital thread of the social fabric of Western Nigeria, juju music incorporates traditional song forms, rhythms and instruments with Western musical influences and instrumentation. Featured Performances by King Sunny Ade, , IK Dairo and Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey.
Yes! I used to play guitar and tour with a famous guy named Pat Thomas from Ghana in the '90s, throughout North America and Europe, and people from the audience would come and put money on Pat's face all the time,
Uplifting docu. Memory maker.
Did Obey tour North America in the eighties? Wish I'd seen him. I saw King Sunny in concert in 1983. Amazing experience.

The Juju´s are Gods that exsisted 5000 BC. Juju is a word for the Gods, of which there are more than 1000...yes,( JUJU or God´s music ). it is a term used to differential the incoming western music from the true homeland sound, which was then native music. Ethnography, Theosophism and Anthropology are all new compare to Nativitism and Ritualism. Juju music is a music of the retuals of the African Gods among all black people, way back in their Garden of EDEN. YES.......Note: We do not only enjoy Juju Music, but we can also. swear and put a speel on somebody in the name of your JUJU........watch out.................
