But it’s less to do with my capturing method (it still is though), and more to do with the character model I personally think they did use facial capture in future games to save on editing time, but they used less complex models because RDR2 and GTAV tends to have a lot more characters on screen at any one time.

Probably, since this is from one the very first cases and it is quite easy.. as the game progresses the difficulty increases and it can get very challeging to tell if someone is lying or not, specially if you overlook or leave some clues behind and that is what makes it such a great game (quite underrated in my opinion)
The characters in the game fails at keeping eyes contact with the characters they speak to, especially when their head's moving. I think This is because actors were told to record their face in front of a camera seperatly from motion body capture. And for the old man with the strange face, it's maybe because the actor was told to act like the scene was sunny, but it may be for another reason if this scene can also be at night. Idk.
I thought this was going to change how games where made, the facial expressions, the detail in the eyes, lips, and mouth are incredible. Such a shame it never took off in the industry. Even today animating faces and making them look realistic is a struggle, and to think Rockstar nearly perfected it back in 2011. Imagine if the technology continued to innovate and upgrade over the years, we could have some seriously realistic games right now.
This game really is the perfect example of something which just needed to wait a year or two to have the tech to make it great. Imagine how much this game could benefit from something like RTX since it’s so reliant on character animation
