I just graduated with my degree in Health Sciences and I'm working on my applications for OT Fall 2023 I find your videos so helpful in understanding more on the profession and grad school overall thank you
I’m staring my pre requisites and general classes for the program but I am stuck on if I should go into OTA or OT. My end goal is to be an occupational therapist so I guess my question is when do you start work if I go for the 4 year OT school? And can OTA credits transfer to OT?
Hi!! Thank you for the comment! So since your end goal is an OT not an OTA I would do either a masters degree or a doctorate. Right now, I chose the masters degree route but I will most likely get my doctorate later on. I do not think that the credits will transfer over from one OT program to an OTA program. I suggest to do more research on that! But Good luck on your journey! 😊
I would say to ask around! Take a look at their website and see if the program has anything up! If not, then when you go to open houses try to speak with someone from the program there! Most schools usually have a representative there! 😊
I wish I had known these kinds of things beforehand. I just graduated in the Fall 2020 semester and I'm a first gen college student so I had no idea I needed to do all these things for grads schools to want to accept me. Even my advisors didn't tell me about stuff like this and now I feel like its too late especially considering my gpa is really low
Thank you for your comment! Don't give up on your dreams! You can't change the past but you can change your future! So try your best to make your application more well-rounded and if you need to retake any classes to get better grades then maybe think about that as well! Also you can always apply to be an OTA as well! That is an amazing profession that OTs work with on a daily basis! Good luck with your journey! :)
Okay so this might be a silly question but I’m currently taking health science at a community college and will very soon need to transfer to a 4 year school. When do you apply for Ot programs after you have a bachelors in health science? Or should I apply now to get my bachelors and masters at the same time?
There are no stupid questions here!! And you should apply to OT school during the summer before/during fall semester of your senior yr in undergrad! This is if you do not want to take a break in between and want to start right away! Hope this helps you 😊
Yes! But if you are sure about OT then it may be beneficial to pick an undergrad school that offers an OT program as well! This may help your chances of getting it by a little bit!
hey girl so i know you’ve said before that you planned on becoming an entrepreneur occupational therapist in the future and I’ve been wanting to do the same. i’m currently a freshman in college as a psychology major with a minor in business. however, the idea came up to pick up a second major (business) and to minor in communications. i know this would be difficult but i love to learn and pretty much want to make the most of these next few years. so i was wondering if you think being a double major would be worth it for the path i want to go in? and would this make me a more competitive candidate in the application process for OT school? thank you, love the videos girl ❤️
Hey girl! Thank you so much for your support! I think double majoring would definitely make you stand out! Especially having a pysch background along with business! I would just say to make sure you are taking all of the required pre-regs for the OT program! Most require anatomy and physiology and I"m not sure if that's required for both of those majors! Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!
I just graduated with my associate in accounting. I feel like I wasted time. I should’ve applied for the OT program long time ago. I have to wait until September of 2023 to register because the program already started there’s no school nearby that I can start in January. They told me to take A&P while waiting and they need 25 observational hours. How do I know OT is the right choice, please?
Thanks for the tips! Omg I'm scared, right now I have a GPA 3.06 I'm gonna work my butt off and do everything I can to raise as much as I can. I've been looking at Wesley College, they require a 3.0 and Physics or Exercise Science! For applying to Temple University, did you have to take the GRE or the MAT? Were they a requirement? Im looking on their website and cannot find it.....so yes I checked first lol.
Deerenee’s The OT Chronicles Bhahaha no problem. I’ve decided to take Physics for Life Science since it’s online! 🥴 I’m working on GPA repair and having the required courses I need for graduate programs!

I’m stressed 😩. I graduate next spring. I want to get into an OT school 😩
Congratulations! And just take it one day at time! You will get there 😊 Good luck!!
How do we search for individuals in programs we’re interested in? Go to the ot schools Instagram and look for ones already in it or?
