A month later, the 20th of august 1976, I saw them play in the Civic Auditorium in Santa Cruz CA, after having finished the Bikecentennial tour Coast to Coast across the USA. How could I have known it would be one of their last concerts all together? How could I have known that I rode my bicycle across the counrty while The Band was making their last tour at the same time? I missed them in Lexington KY on the 3rd of july 1976, but just before returning to Europe I got to see them in California. It still feels as if it happened yesterday. At the end of the concert I felt homesick. Why? It was probably this last verse of The Weight that had told me: "Catch a cannon ball now to take me down the line My bag is sinkin' low and I do believe it's time To get back to Miss Fanny, you know she's the only one Who sent me here with her regards for everyone" So I spent 72 hours nonstop on that Greyhoundbus from Frisco to New York and got my plane and landed in Bruxelles. I had painted My Masterpiece. Thanks Levon, Rick, Richard, Garth and Robbie!
@@williamhanes479 Sorry for the delay. nothing is wrong with it. the 3rd verse from "before the flood " is magic . this one isnt. 1,2 4,+5 are magic. IMO
Wish I could hit thumbs up a billion times! Master musicians!!!
I could listen to Levon all day and never get bored
It is 2022 and i still listen to the band.
💗👏💗
Every time I hear this song it gets me right to my soul, there's something about it that I don't have the words to describe, thank you ♥

The Band and Procol Harum are the 2 bands that can truly replicate their songs in "live" performances.
levon was the best singin drummer this world has ever seen....
Love Dancko, he was the soul when Levon was the heart of the band
Love the Band thay have been in my hole life stated listening to them in the 60 TS and will until the vinyl melts !!!!
The Band is a legend to me after watching The last waltz movie
This version def Robbie’s best intro
The whole band was on fire, but Robbie was unstoppable that night.
I agree, and thank God that c***sucker had the grace to not try and sing.
I saw them at Pine Knob outside Detroit about two weeks before this. It was magical.
5 members make up the BAND not just one person. Without just one member it would not be the band
It just has a way of striking a common chord among everyone.
Thanks for sharing....don't make em like they ustacould
Garth and Richard always switched up for "The Weight"...
Seems like they could have put the mic closer to the drummer.
love this version, best concert version, except for maybe the 3rd verse
mike galante . Whats wrong with the 3rd verse?
Thought it was solid

@@DealingWithDylan It was solid the rest are magic
