Probably you already figure that out but if not maybe that will help. The reason why the holes for fitting the monitor support are not properly aligned is because you placed the monitor facing down. And the plastic for the monitor flex a bit. If you try to attach the support the proper way is to do it in the vertical position. Hope that helps.
16 * 16 * x * x + 9 * 9 * x * x = 27 * 27, sqrt(32 * 32 * x * x + 9 * 9 * x *x) = 48, both 27 inches and 48 inches are diagonal, you can't just add 2 27inches.

I'll be honest, working two monitors, the bezels don't count for much and you can place the monitors as you please. They're a lot easier to handle and more robust, don't get as hot, can be oriented vertically, can be stacked or placed back-to-back, they transport easily, fit any desk, can angle independently to reduce glare and reflection plus if you only need one, the other switches off - less power, less heat, better longevity. hi just wanted to say what great videos you present you have helped in so many of my decisions by giving great advice thank you for making these videos
Nice, realistic review. Now, the stand not aligning with the screw holes is a no no. Hopefully that was a one a million manufacturing defect that they can and SHOULD rectify by sending you a new monitor. I’ve been salivating for a super ultra wide display, but holding back because as of now (not necessarily so in the near future) my main machine is an iMac (iMac 27”). PS. Retina displays on Macs are mouth watering... And that also makes me hesitate on taking the plunge and switching to PCs...
the screw-hole alignment was not a manufacturing defect, it was a user error defect. He didn't read the manual or quick setup instructions which they warn you to install the base while the monitor is still supported in the packaging. Just like in any sort of sheet metal work, the metal/plastic will bend if not supported correctly and that is what happened here, the external case and the base support holes are not directly connected on purpose to give some play when installing the base. So the case flexes when you put it directly onto the table, the packaging supports the case in its proper position and allows the base support holes to align up correctly.
I would buy ultra wide monitors but they never have proper support for simulating separate screens. While this one offers to split the screen in half, as a gamer I want the game in the center, a screen on the left for discord and a screen on the right for UA-cam. Currently this can only be achieved by having 2 vertical screens on each side because monitor manufacturers to not properly utilize their own hardware.
This is great. Now I don't have to run two separate power cords and hdmi cables without taking up space on the power extension cord/outlets or graphics card.
I worked for years on a system with 6 wide monitors, three side-by-side on top of three others, side-by-side. It was great until I lost track of the curser. It would take a long time to find it. I quickly got in the habit of putting several "wineyes" around. (They are eyeballs that follow the curser.)
yeah you can modify your cursor to include a shadow that follows it so is easier to see...or even use different type/size of cursors to help. My eyesight has gone to crap and I constantly lose track of my cursor when playing some games.
if you still have that giant setup, install windows powertoys. When installed you can double tap ctrl and everything goes dimm except for a circle where your mouse is
I have two 24" 1080p monitors side by side and I wanna upgrade them. 27" seems to large and wouldn't 1440p be harder to drive with your graphics card? I like having all my games at max setting 144hz.
I've had the Samsung CHG-90 49" 144hz 1080p display for about 6 months now and it is AMAZING. Absolutely smokes this Philips and the new LG for 2 big reasons - first you only want 1080p as at the distance you're sitting for games you can NOT see the difference. If it was 1440p you'd need scaling anyway AND you'd have even more pixels to push for no reason. The second and HUGE reason is 144hz vs. 60hz. These are gaming monitors so there is NO comparison here. Why would you want to push more pixels you can't see rather than push pixels that are faster. Oh and once you switch to one of these you'll NEVER go back. I went from 3 27" to this and 2 27's (in an odd layout) and being a 20+ year multi monitor user this IS WHAT I'VE WANTED FOR YEARS.
I could, no problem.... I can't tell the difference with my productivity applications or watching youtube. But actually I'm really confused... if you're a gamer, why do you need over 100hz when you can just use freesync/gsync or am I misunderstanding what that technology is good for?
@@michaelxz1305 yes you are. up until 100hz it's very noticeable. then it gets less noticeable but high refresh monitors are very smooth compared to 60hz
I'd love to see a similar widescreen monitor but for a more professional use. Such as a 50" 16:10 with 10,240 x 3200 pixels with 100% RGB. Ideally an OLED display. My two 30" 2560x1600 are getting really old and a screen like that would be my preferred choice. Either way, great review!
I agree, I would love to have something taller not wider and thinner. Maybe something like 5120x2560 though...not sure about the 10,240 seems bit wide and the same aspect ration as this is?
@@paulvorderegger1522 hey Paul, 1) I'm running 2 companies 2) I'm designing electronics for robotics and scientific projects. The 400 tabs are usually: 50: emails, news feeds, company admin, management pages ( I developed my own ERP system using Google) 50: engineering related infos, forums, news, etc. 100-300: supplier websites, part data sheets: ICs, motors, robots, hardware etc. The way this works if I'm designing a circuit and I need a chip for a purpose, for example last week I needed a Current Sense Amplifier I usually go on Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Maxim pages and I select 10-20 chips. I need to open all of their data sheets to check values. If you're interested google "INA381 TI" have a look I need to compare these 10-20 devices until I find the optimal solution that I insert into my design. Once the chip is chosen I close those 20 ish pages. ... Now imagine the simplest PCB (printed circuit board) has 5-10 chips. Sometimes I can't close all tabs because although a chip is selected, but another follow on chip must be chosen based on the previous ones performance. It's an iterative process, lot of work but also fun. +10-20 UA-cam video tabs to keep me sane XD
i think we're asking the wrong question, the real question is, what kind of strain does a 48" super ultra wide monitor have on a GPU over time, or how big a power supply do you need to compensate for 3 monitors?
Side comment - when do you think we will live in times when windows resize will be smooth? This setup is surely powerful enough to rock smoothly games but sadly resize of simple window feels like it is still 1990s
That giant 4k monitor from Razer seems like it would be a better productivity tool, as not only do you have the width (almost) but also some extra height, it would be like stacking 2 1080p super-ultra-wide monitors on top of each other.
the screw-hole alignment was not a manufacturing defect, it was a user error defect. This is all nice, I meanwhile have the monitor, but my graphics card doesn't support it. Which ones do? When googleing, I can't find any that supports it, so what's the secret to look for?
I like the width of these super ultrawide monitors, but they need to be like two inches taller in my opinion. Horizontal pixels are nice, but I want more vertical pixels too. I'm currently rocking a 32 inch 2560x1440 144Hz LG panel. The height is perfect. Now if only they would make a super ultrawide the size of two of these 32 inch monitors. That's what I want.

Great Video, how I can split the screen to use two computers at same time without switching the input as I need to use personal and work laptops at same time
Great video. You are one of the few people I can ask this question to, as you have both the 38” and 49” LG monitors. My question is: is it better (for user overall experience) to use: 2 38” LG’s side by side, or one 49” monitor for photoshop, Lightroom, Final Cut Pro, , etc. ? I know you get more real estate with the 2 38’s, but I think the lack of a bezel may be a deciding advantage? Your thoughts are really appreciated. Scott
doing school work, research, or desk job work on that thing would make everyone's life so much more productive. I use a 14" 3:2 surfacebook monitor with laptop mouse whcih hinders my school workflow for sure.
School work?? Unless you are in MIT or Harvard in the rocket science program (or IT), I don’t quite see it. Now, I’m a Database Administrator, with TONS of windows open all the time (including VMs running in the background), and yes, that would make a world of difference to me. But hey, you are the only one who knows what works for you. ;-) Peace.✌🏻

I do a lot of graphic design, web design, video editing/motion graphics and photo editing. Out of this and the other montiors you mentioned in this video, which would you recommend?
This is a great review. Very good monitor by Phillips. I'm really impressed by the overall quality but I think they need better quality assurance controls to prevent such alignment problems. Recent Samsung 4k monitor I tried was such a let down so I'm checking this display.
Well they did put in the instructions not to put the monitor directly on the table and to install the base with the monitor in the packaging, so the video author kinda screwed the pooch when he did that and the monitor flexed as he set it on the table, would account for the misaligned screws very easily....he should have read the instructions first before starting an unboxing video LOL
Next step - make a SUW AiO PC out of that 'panoramic' screen ;) You certianly get the real estate for all types of PCBs, ports and cooling to be housed in with such a big device...
A comparative review without any comparisons... Since you've used all the other screens can you rank them, or place this one in some sort of list / rank the categories of price, performance, look and feel? seems your just promoting it without actually saying what's better or worse for xyz. (though you did says the 3 gaming screens were better for gaming - what's better for productivity?)
Something I dislike about larger monitors is, most games dont keep the HUD elements in the center of the screen and instead push them to the edges, outside of your focused view, so you need to turn around and look at the side to see for example how much health you have left. That seriously ruins large monitors for gaming, the extra space is supposed to be used to add peripheral vision for extra immersion, HUD elements shouldnt be pushed there. Very few games take this into account.
great video. Some videos have posted the difficulties with having multiple screens side by side. Your presentation 2;25 showed multiple screens effortlessly --can I ask how it's done. thanks
I have the same question! I just got a 49 inch curved monitor at work and would like to know how to bring up the multiple documents as you did in your video.

I'm going to Double Decker these 49's for my graphs.....fkin awesome.
When installed you can double tap ctrl and everything goes dimm except for a circle where your mouse is
@@JPAnor Great idea! I retired, so I don't have a problem like that. But I still lose the curser so I might look into it.
This is not sold as a gaming monitor - it is a productivity monitor..
Ultrawides and 144hz+, you just can't go back to 16:9 and 60hz.
Sure you can go back. In a couple of days you get used to things being less smooth and it appears smooth again. 60 is good enough.
The same thing is true for 10bits IPS ;) So, an ideal monitor is 4k IPS 5ms 10 bits HDR 120-144 Hz of an appropriate size. A h/w ratio depends.
2:27 That's how Batman works on his batcomputer, except he scrolls through all of them simultaneously
What kind of keyboard is he using? Nice!
Finally something that will be able to deal with my 173 open tabs....
and we all know what website that's on
I got 400+ last week.
@@GaborGubicza 400 tabs? What's your job 😂
@@paulvorderegger1522 hey Paul,
1) I'm running 2 companies
2) I'm designing electronics for robotics and scientific projects.
The 400 tabs are usually:
50: emails, news feeds, company admin, management pages ( I developed my own ERP system using Google)
50: engineering related infos, forums, news, etc.
+10-20 UA-cam video tabs to keep me sane XD
what would you recommend now in 2022?
great video..thanks. now in mid 2020 what is the best product on the market. Also can you get a mount that has a two monitor stack ?
Tom, how does it compare to Philips 48.8in 5K HDR. I think you reviewed that also?
Thanks
i think we're asking the wrong question, the real question is, what kind of strain does a 48" super ultra wide monitor have on a GPU over time, or how big a power supply do you need to compensate for 3 monitors?
best review!!
Stand is fine on mine. You need vsync on to avoid tearing and it supports 75 hz
Thank you for the great review
0:49 This is why my dear ol' Pa - God rest his soul - once told me "Don't EVER buy a Philips, son!"
Side comment - when do you think we will live in times when windows resize will be smooth? This setup is surely powerful enough to rock smoothly games but sadly resize of simple window feels like it is still 1990s
The super extra wide are awesome. 32:9 I'd have a 90 inch super wide if I could
Hey uhm which chair are you using there? :)
Looks really great
That giant 4k monitor from Razer seems like it would be a better productivity tool, as not only do you have the width (almost) but also some extra height, it would be like stacking 2 1080p super-ultra-wide monitors on top of each other.
4k monitors "are exactly that"... 4 full HD monitors or 2 1080p super ultra wide
@@RetroTinkerer Hence why I said that...
How were you able to split your screen into 5 and also can you tell me the configuration of your pc and what you think I need for trading and gaming
I think this is a better option other than using many cascade monitors, even for day traders.
I just canceled my dell 49" and ordered this one. looks great! I hope I do not have the screw hole issue...
the screw-hole alignment was not a manufacturing defect, it was a user error defect. He didn't read the manual or quick setup instructions which they warn you to install the base while the monitor is still supported in the packaging. This is all nice, I meanwhile have the monitor, but my graphics card doesn't support it. Which ones do? When googleing, I can't find any that supports it, so what's the secret to look for?
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MAN
I wish you also did Mac reviews with these monitors.
hi great video however I noticed that 27 multiplied by 2 is 54 not 52
Have to admit...I am a little jealous! Hahaha...that is just incredible, Tom! 🤣
THIS
Thinking about it, this could be the perfect monitor for music production, as you could have vst windows and mixer all side by side
That's what I do for PreSonus Studio One. It's excellent.
Awesome review. Very helpful
Didn't know about the built-in docking possibilities! That feature actually allows me to convince my boss to buy me the screen :D
did he buy it?
Were they diagonal screws? I don't think they were supposed to go in straight.... 🤷
I keep seeing a lot of comments asking for pretty much the same thing, 2x 32 inch monitors in one bezel would be perfect.
1:55 "Wait a minute, Tom. Quick maths: Two 27" monitors, doesn't equate to 49", that should be 52...."
All these years I thought 2x27=54. You learn something new every day.
Great Video, how I can split the screen to use two computers at same time without switching the input as I need to use personal and work laptops at same time
Do homework on one "screen" while playing switch on the other.
What chair are you using? looks nice and comfortable!
Scott
what did you chose at the end?
@@filysoussokho7233 when I bought them, there was NOTHING EVEN CLOSE in size or resolution. They then came out with your 49”.
doing school work, research, or desk job work on that thing would make everyone's life so much more productive.
I think Philips is closed and was a brand that manufactured led screens
I wonder who manufactured this Philips screen. Great video anyway :)
Not surprised the screw holes didn't fit. Quality control of Philips products is shocking. Especially their Sonicare toothbrushes!

no flause. lovely screen. going from 4k to 5k. gaming with a i9 i7 i5 amd gpu nvidia with sync patch.
Hi can you share how you share the wireless mouse between device please? Thank you very much
Mate what laptop do you use? I can see its a Dell. I have this monitor but cannot find a laptop that works with it so very curious!
Think I'll wait for the Mega Turbo Jumbo Super Ultrawide 😊
The one that wraps around your body? :P
Next year: mega super Ultrawide
360 wrap around!
Exists: LG 88" super stretch
Unless you're British. Then it'll be referred to as 'rather large'.
125" with 1,225hz and Super IPS Plus.
are we working towards a ring monitor? just a big HALO of a monitor that you have to lower down after sitting?
Great review! Thank you for that! Hope you enjoy your new monitor!
Does the aspect ratio of human vision match the aspect ratio of the monitor?
Feels like the next thing I need. Have two 27" monitors with fat bezels.
@@user-if1de8pt2j Hey yes I noticed that. Have an ultra wide monitor as secondary screen at work and I never use it as primary
So you can share this screen with two laptops at the same time?
Another EXCELLENT video!! Couldn't help but say... the webcam quality is AWFUL! For a monitor that costs nearly £1000!
How much is the cost of your whole set up?
Thanks!
Very very nice content keep up
In your opinion, would it be a good purchase?
Depends what you are using it for....I find it way harder to game on them....Actually returned mine went back to 2 27s
I assume if you lift it up from the middle the screw holes will be aligned.
I have the Samsung odyssey G9 and I can tell you it doesn't feel like that ultra wide to me after a week using it. Perfect width though.
