I'm in cannon County Tennessee, a known World Geode Field. I've also found petrified wood, jasper, and possibly a diamond. It came out of deep hole after a huge tree fell
I live in Washington State. I just arrived back here to my home state after being gone for 24 years. I lived in Tehachapi California. While I was there I was fortunate enough to be invited to a dig where a tragedy had occurred. A Gemologists had come down with brain cancer quite a few years before this dig. The Rock-man, (because I don't know his name) as I call him, had phoned his friend who was a pastor in Tehachapi. He told him that he had brain cancer and only weeks to live. He asked his friend the pastor if he could bring two 40 foot sea-trains and put them on the church property. Inside, they stored the Rock-mans valuable gems. The pastor told him yes he could. The Rock-man brought his sea trains and soon after he arrived he fell into dimensia. Soon after that the poor Rock-man passed away. The pastor went to the sea-trains and cut the lock and opened them up. Upon looking inside he was horrified and realized he had been talking to the Rockman who was in dimensia the entire time. Or so he thought, because when he looked in all he saw was brown rocks! He asked some boys from his parish to come out and help him get all these rocks out of the sea trains because he wanted to store stuff in the sea-trains. He told them to throw them in a pile. They did. Next, the pastor called a cement company to come and make a big parking lot for his parish. He added Ive got plenty of rock here to crush and throw in. The cement company complied and the pastor had a new parking lot. There were still some cathedrals left and he asked the guy with the tractor to build a berm going around three sides of the church to hold back water. He added, just push the big rocks into the berm. Again they complied. 14 years later a woman approached me and asked me if I wanted in, on the dig. Of coarse, I did. 6 of us dug for over a year pulling out every cathedral we could find. It was during that dig I found out this woman was just a girl when this happened. She kept at the pastor to stop what he was doing because he was destroying valuable Gems. He refused to listen to her. The woman thinks it was because he was so embarrassed in front of his church people, that he couldn't see past the overall brown rocks, despite the fact that, over and over again she brought him, Jade, Ruby's, Amethyst, etc. Still, he would look at the brown rock and continue destroying them. She said she never thought to tell him you must clean the rocks to see what they are. She said as a teenager, she thought everyone knew that. So, all of us kept whatever we found, but we saved, what was left to save, of the Rock-mans Gems.
I'm in N. California & just pick up "pretty rocks" I see around ~ nothing with a name, worth, or intrinsic beauty. But I lived on S. Oregon Coast for 4yrs & spent alot of time walking beach, collecting pretty rocks, the best ones my friend was kind enuff to tumble/polish for me. (Thanks Jerry!) I also went to the rivers nearby & found pretty interesting rocks, but was told much of river has gold claims on it & not safe to be seen picking up things, even rocks. They take it very seriously! Never saw anyone there mining their claim & they're not marked, so don't know where claims are, are not. Shouldn't claims be marked as such?!? Anyway, safer to collect on the beach, but hard to go to any river & NOT be looking for rocks ~ not gold, just rocks! I'm back in CA now, so went up to empty my tiny storage unit in town. Knew I had beach rocks, incl. small rounded agates...but was surprised to see just how much I had in there! I shipped back 2 rather heavy boxes of rocks, most not yet polished, so am getting a rock tumbler & hoping I can learn how to tumble/polish them to bring out the beauty of them! Some were nice colors/patterns as they washed up wet on beach & I put them in bag or pockets. Now, can't wait to see if I can identify any of them! I know they won't be worth $$, but it's ok, they'll be pretty & the fun is really in the finding!
Now in California, although I have lived in quite a few places and traveled.. Knowledge is better than not knowing.. Gems are pieces of Art to myself.🎉
I live in Portland, Oregon, and you can find both jasper and agate literally in your backyard! I’m from Butte, Montana, though, and so obviously my collection includes may metallic minerals such as malachite, azurite, chrysocolla, enargite, iron pyrite, chalcopyrite and galena mostly given to me by my dad who is now a retired mining engineer. They are specimens he personally found throughout his career. But he credits me for being able to see the beauty in all the minerals and rocks I find and collect.
Right, even the leaverites are beautiful. Here in New Mexico and Arizona we find those metals with very little of the agate and jasper associated to em. That must be why y'all are more famous for rocks, most of ours are more easily processed and therefore less specimen pieces get saved.
I'm in south west England. Quartz is about it, along with black tourmaline, some of the feldspars (mostly plagioclase and orthoclase), occasional chalcopyrite, luxulyanite and some very small turquoise deposits. Used to be able to find amethyst but that's all gone. Nothing very exotic; luckily I happen to _love_ Quartz.
@@allisonm.8497 Really don't mind having specimens of all, although I hesitate with Fluorite. Because I was a Mother and bought some fluorite I always hesitate to put in Jewelry and don't buy anymore. Garnets are my favorite. Older now so not purchasing like I use though. Check quartz clusters too, there are so many with diamond quality pieces- like pure and large! Then on top of that, the ancient/native artifacts are beyond abundant

Hi from Oklahoma, we find lots of quartz around here, over the summer I picked up some lovely Jasper and Agate near Robbers Cave. I've enjoyed collecting pretty rocks all of my life, but only recently began my education on what each of them is called. That's great, but even if they don't have that much value, they're still stones that I like, but depending on the quality of the stone, once cut, they're beautiful and can be worth a lot of money.
Central Oregon and I have collected so many different colors of Jasper and the chalcedony rocks that it boggles my mind. I have also found some gems I could not identify. Need a great book with lots of descriptions and pictures of the different gems and what passes for a clean bill of health so i can tell the good from the bad.

Natural Black opal is the most valuable opal ever and can be worth as much as $35,000 u.s. per CT. Depending on colors , patterns, clarity , ect.The orange Fire opal is moderate to low value in comparison. Terminated Gem quartz, sunstones, agates, Jaspers, Garnet ,paridot ,epidote and gem feldspars are more common ,area depending.

Gresham, Oregon...I've found some amazing Jasper's that would blow your mind, I think anyway's, a very smalll piece of green chalcedony although it may have come out of the Snake river by American fall's, lot's of quartz, some agate's, and I plan on going to the Oregon fire opal mine's, and the one just over in Nevada soon as I can, no beryl yet or emerald but that would be awesome, I've found lot's of little Applegate jade/jadeite...but I need to learn to identify the geode agate, that look like rock's on the outside, I do have your e-book, I don't remember if I got a physical copy though??? Traumatic brain injuries......hard on the memory from the time of the injuries....
I don't know how this comment got on your channel!?
THANKS SIR GOD'S BLESS YOU

Hi, I live in southern Alberta, Canada close to the Rocky Mountains
Hello from Canada
Indiana and I have found all of them.
I had any Opels in my life.
Natural Black opal is the most valuable opal ever and can be worth as much as $35,000 u.s. per CT. Depending on colors , patterns, clarity , ect.The orange Fire opal is moderate to low value in comparison. Terminated Gem quartz, sunstones, agates,
Jaspers, Garnet ,paridot ,epidote and gem feldspars are more common ,area depending.
I live in Florida and if there is a gem stone here it came in on a load of landscape rocks.
