The guitarist is Jorn Viggo Lofstad, he plays guitar for a band called Pagan's Mind, you should relly check out some of their Songs, "Intermission" got an amazing Guitar solo!
It is actually her most recent album. But to be honest songs were written 10 years ago. She wanted to try some hard rock insted of metal for once. She written this album together with this guitarist from Pagans mind in 2008. But after that in 2009 her band After Forever broke down and she didn't want to be known mostly for this kind of music, so she put it down to do her new band ReVamp first. On first ReVamp tour she get into health troubles (she got burnout) and she stopped doing anything for over a year. After that (well actualy not completely healed) she was hired as NW guest "quick help imposible to perform" singer. In the end of the tour she ofcourse become their official singer, because imposible was easy for her (or at leas it seems to be to me :D ). After that she did second ReVamp album and tour, after that NW album and tour, got pregnant, did one Ayreon album, disasembled ReVamp and after all that she finaly had time to finish this album right before another NW tour.
This is her side project now........... The guitarist is from the band Pagan's Mind. All the songs from this album are on UA-cam. They put their album on UA-cam song by song. They would go to the reactors pages and thank them for their reactions. That is such a cool way to release your music. I love it too. Her sister Irene sings in one of the songs with her.
Yeah, they met at ProgPower USA VIII in 2007 when After Forever and Pagan's Mind were both playing it that year. Then we had to wait 11 years for the project to reach fruition. But it was worth the wait.
@@TheZachh She was a professional singer, but I think she retired. She used to sing on some of Anthony Arjen Luccassen's projects. Here you go, dual Jansen's live with Star One! ua-cam.com/video/oriR8CpI-Io/v-deo.html
Irene also sings with Ayreon. Floor told that their parents at first did not hear both sisters were singing in Drifters Island as their voices are so similar
Wow. You weren´t kidding when sayin this reaction would come sooner than i´d think :) It´s a fun song and i´m glad you also liked it. If you haven´t already listened whole album you could do reaction to Get What You Give or Storm In A Glass. Both have official lyrics videos.
They actually started working on this record about 10 years ago but just before releasing Floor had a complete burn-out. When she had finally recovered of it Nightwish called her to fill in for Anette which kept her busy until 2017 when they had a year off. So she then called Jørn Viggo Lofstad to see if he was intrested to finish the project. Another great song from this album is "Storm in a glass". Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/zHIodbDG7Zc/v-deo.html
I'm glad that you decided to react to this band! I definitely agree that her vocals are amazing but doesnt seem like shes challenged that much like how Nightwish challenges her. But I am glad shes singing what she wrote as she is also a song writer! She wrote most of the songs for After Forever and reVamp and I am glad shes using Northward to get her creative juices back out. In Northwards new album, there is a song with Floor and her sister Irene Jansen, who is also an amazing vocalist! The song is called "Drifting Islands".
Sometimes singing somethign does not have to challenge a vocalist, can just be fun to do, easy and all. Never got the notion one should be vocally challenged at all times for something to be worthwhile.
The guitarist is Jorn Viggo Lofstad from the band Pagan's Mind. They've talked about the process around making the album in a series of vids leading up to the release. They'z on da 'Tubez :) Pagan's Mind is a great band, and the singer has quite a set of pipes :).
I actually stepped in to that divine land. Was asleep within 10 minutes and missed most of the rest of the show. Never seen this one before. I enjoyed it.
Floor and the guitarist started this side project many years ago, but just had the time to release it just before the "Decades" tour I believe. Fun stuff. The guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Standard edition. I own the Studio edition, different pick ups, for a slightly cleaner tone. Meaning not as much squawk if you mess up and half mute a string by accident. 😀
Ryan, you've done side projects for Marco( Tarot), Floor( Northward), Kai( Wintersun).. How about some love for Brother Firetribe( Emmpu)** there is usually a solo on all their songs... If you do Heart Full of Fire ** Live from The Apollo** You can even see Anette From Nightwish… hehe.. Also, Tuomas has a side Project( Auri) that features his Wife Johanna and Troy the Flute/ Pipe player from Nightwish== The song is The Space Between**
I love the entire album❤️❤️❤️ Probably one of the few albums where I don't skip any song. You also should try listening to ReVamp. I think every aspect of her voice was featured there.
I like the biker baby outfit and look on her!!!! Man some of those looks from Floor, never get her mad (LOL) I think she likes the guitar riffs and you are right she likes kicking loose her POP side. I can never see this from Nightwish but I would like to see more of the project. Man all these band members are so talented that they have to have side projects beside Nightwish to keep them engaged. Man that guitar was wicked, he is from Pagan's Mind and the project is just the two of them. They wrote the songs in 2008 but were too busy to record them till 2017!!! Man I have to give Pagan's Mind a look see after that shredding riff that was flash back to the Hendrix/Santana/Alvin Lee days!!!
It's a Gibson Les Paul guitar Ryan. ;) My first electric guitar was a Les Paul copy. Interestingly, he has an active pickup in the neck pick-up position. Must be a custom build. Oh, when trying to figure out the "when" of a song, look at Floor's arms. If tattoos are there, it's after she joined Nightwish. Go back and check out any of the performances at Waken 2013. No tattoos on the arms. Oh, I see how it is. You wouldn't trust me to drive your Uber because I have facial hair? That's hairist! 😂😂😂 She's thinner than Tampere 2015 or Wembly 2016. Miraculously, she's thinner now after having her baby in 2017. She really hit the gym apparently because she gained a LOT of weight while she was pregnant. If you're ever curious, there's a video of her singing Oh Holy Night in Finnish while she was in the very late stages of her pregnancy here on UA-cam.

Great Reaction again. Hope you check some other songs of them as well. The album is great and it really grew on me with every listen. It shows a completely different side of floor.
While Love Died is my favourite song from the album besides Paragon and Storm in a Glass (quite uplifting songs). But if you want more "in your face" songs, I recommend Big Boy.
I guess are right. She does have a lot more in her. Even in Nighwish she sings in a very relaxed register compared to some stuff she did in After Forever.
Late as always, but I won't edit any more. You just cannot go wrong with Floor. She really shows how great her legs are in this video. Floor & Viggo recorded the material for this album about 10 years ago, but weren't able to release it until 2018 as they were both so busy with their bands. Ryan, react to "Drifting Islands" on this album since it's a duet with Floor & her sister Irene Jansen, who has an amazing voice as well. P.S. My favourite part of the song - bye bye! Okay, that guitar solo is awesome too. You might totally enjoy Lofstad's band Pagan's Mind. You'll get plenty of that crunchy guitar sounds and nice solos. Check out the song "Intermission". It's more heavy metal than hard rock, but no crawling or anything. :)
Fun fact: Floor and Jorn ( the guitarist) wrote pretty much all the songs on this album back in 2008 but their main projects always delayed the launch. I love seeing side projects and different sides of singers and artists. Floor sounds (and looks) so good on this one. I'd like to suggest a band called Amorphis. I've seen other people recommend them too, but I wouldn't begin with the song "The Bee". Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome track, but for first time listener I'd pick the "Under the Red Cloud". I agree... she is not challenged. But she is enjoying the song and that the song is actually out and available to public :) she is the creator of the song, that should be challenging enough.
