    I could see a mist dragon allowing a wizard to study some old ruin its laired in, provided he’s quiet and doesn’t damage the ruins, or a clever thief could tell one of these dragons that he’s been hired by a researcher to take tracings of some the carvings in the temple in order to gain access to a ruin containing an ancient treasure that the dragon is currently nesting in.

    Huh... So the one time I ran into a Mist Dragon was as Vorse the Minotaur Paladin. Though the dragon was in the form of an old sage woman that approached Vorse while he was alone on his watch and camping with his new party members. Interesting conversation, and not once did I bother asking why the old woman was there bothering me about the current events of the realms.
    Mostly just told her/him? that there is an Overlord that is working for some unknown evil power and trying to bring the whole continent into heel. The conversation was odd because the old sage asked me about the Sun Sword I had hidden, the first alarm I had and was preparing for a possible fight. The sage then tells me the sword was once from one of many Bahamut's temples and wondered where I got mine. Told the sage my story, and she acknowledged I am a worthy holder of the sword and should take care of it. I gave her my word that once my mission is completed or should I fall before completing the task; that I hope the next wielder will take the sword to a temple of Bahamut and give it proper respects.
    The sage woman seemed pleased and left during the night through the mists. Vorse couldn't detect any evil from her but was still on guard while admiring the lore of the Sun Sword he found in an old ruins that an evil black dragon took over.

    Mist Dragons would make cool quest givers. Sending players to gather knowledge that for one reason or another, they cannot gather themselves

    Not killing green dragon is strategic mistake, or the mist dragon shoud simply alarm the nearest hill giants about the green menace.

      Trevor Cormier why not introduce something that can slay/kill them. i don't personally mind the idea of something like dragon riders or familiars being the dragons of the bloodline of sorcers or something. but it kind of breakes the lore tropes if you have average joe dominating the will of an egomaniacle, city destroying dragon, so i prefure the idea of "only dragons can rule dragons." where the personality of the humanoid embodies the same traits as the dragon, failing this the dragon wont "listen" to them, so you end up with basically just the same worse case sonario you've described, except your dealing with the megalomanic personalities of people instead of just massive flying lizards that want to eat you.

    So a dragon that is perpetually "indesposed" XD i love it. and it has a spell casting mist-form incombat aswell & can create that *smoke* as a larping all powerfull mage who despises all social interactions under pain of death... unless you've brought them something truelly "facinating", oh my so many hillarious tropes of "the well educated" in one dragon. that green dragon keep away, and keep away contract would be a pretty intense read... "they are compulsive manipulators..." they have an overpowering urge... to irrationally manipulate... for its own sake, i absolutely love it and ofcourse this is also a trope of the well educated, an idd driven overwhelmingly powerfull malevolent aquaintance that nearly has your life on a thread, that they can "de-spose" of in afew quick and efficient steps, that they keep around as it serves their perpouses in someway. and when mr mist does happen to save you from mr green, instead of feeling greatfull. you feel inaddiquated by your glaringly low level as it wasn't an act of compassion that delivered you from the clutches of evil. no... just an act of mere "convince". with all of those mist powers, they could create a massive(mountain sized) cloud version of themselves & fire lightning bolts(nimbus clouds) through their mouth. and play out the trope you often see in anime, the old: "i am litterally invincible. so re access your life or causally go insane as i have invalidated your martial agency intirely." now that i really think about it, as they hold sway over all mists, they could come off as more intimidating than a red. less dangerous, but more intimidating. in away it kind of makes me think of what it would be like going up against a really powerfull and clever unbound genie(air), esspecially if they can drag it out, slowly convincing you that they are as intangable as they are lethal. even going so far as to fake their own death several times before their escape attempt, or maybe trying to convince you that they are litterally immortal aswell.

    • @AJPickett
      @AJPickett  6 років тому +2

      Hey yeah, a mist dragon could easily impersonate a Genie, that is a great idea!

    • @thedarkmaster4747
      @thedarkmaster4747 6 років тому +2

      AJ Pickett could it technically kill by asphyxiation? since your breath condences right? that would be the ultimate finishing move after all the psychological toying. "aye indeed when you are perpetually inconvenienced in your indeseposal one inevitably begins to feel as though we cannot "breath". as such it is intirely thus an intrepidly "mortal" afair, as one begins "presently", and to inescapably personally "inquire". ah' yes indeed my inquisitive intruder we explore the final momentary passage through the veil into the here after as one. thus i am inquisitively "facinated" after all."

    I wonder if they would want to take the memories that an aboleth has, since those have more memories than anything else I can think of. Are aboleth minds too evil and twisted or could a strong mist dragon handle it?
    Aboleths have so much memories/experience passed on through the eras...
    The mist dragons may themselves pass on memories to their newer generations but in a much more selective way, and probably not very often.

    How do the myst dragons raise their children?

    • @AJPickett
      @AJPickett  7 місяців тому +1

      Dragons are born with a lot of innate knowledge, for example, they don't need to learn how to speak, they just know. Different dragon breeds raise their offspring in their own way, the metallics are thought to be far more involved with their children, but its not always the case, with Mist Dragons, they are such asocial creatures that even their own children are unwelcome company, so they really do spend most of their lives alone, not really knowing their parent (and forget involvement from both of them, only the mother tends to hunt and drop off wounded prey for the kids, maybe some interesting items, creatures and books to play with and learn from, other than that, not much interaction at all. (this is not a lack of caring for their young, the parents will defend them viciously. It's just a total dislike for having company.)

    What are they doing with that knowledge anyway? Knowledge is ment to be shared so not doing so makes it all pointless. I can understand them not wanting to be bothered because they are busy in conversation with someone else, but they shouldn't mind every other time as long as the person is being respectful and would be nice to hang around with from time to time as their conversations would be very interesting.

    • @AJPickett

      Knowledge not shared is pointless? Heh, that is very firmly in the corner of one branch of philosophy. Not everyone thinks that way.

    • @andresmarrero8666
      @andresmarrero8666 2 роки тому

      @@AJPickett what's the point of knowing something if it never gets used? To know something and not share, it is the same as no one knowing at all for it dies with you. Once kept, sealed, and dead it can neither heal nor harm. Knowledge thrives when it is shared for that is how wisdom is born and men grow.
