If I told you that in the early 70's- mid 80's Music of this caliber was everywhere, You wouldn't believe me. I might be old but I saw the great bands.
Derek and Susan have such a great thing going together. May it just get better and better and never end. So beautiful. And Grace, well, what can you say MMm mm MMm mMmm loved it. !
Do you know how much I love the music of both you gals (and Derek and the rest of the fantastic musicians)--to have you singing Angel... is just pure peace and joy. Thank you.
Derek Trucks just has a way of grabbing your heart & soul & wrapping it around his guitar...that sound that he creates is just mind boggling! He knows just how to tweak that guitar on every tune!
SO Glad I didn't leave early.. Got to move closer to the front during this treat. The evening was amazing... Lighting in the skies and on stage. GREAT show. So glad I shared the event with my brother and Grace Potter...
There's a lot of great renditions of this arrangement by the TTB. I've enjoyed listening to them over and over - comparing one performance to the next to hear how the artists change things up from show to show. This one is unique - as it seems Potter and Tedeschi and the band were winging it a bit more than normal. The exchange of vocals between Potter and Tedeschi near the end of the piece seemed to be improvisational. Regardless, it built beautifully with the chorus coming in to build on Potter's (apparent) improvisation at 7:37. Even if not improvised - it was a special moment. If improvised, I'm in awe of how together the band was to run with it.
Had no idea what I was missing by not listening to this band sooner.... Derek is a killer guitar player and Susan is a world class vocalist. SUCH GREAT stuff!!!
First time I saw Derek Trucks play guitar, I don’t think he was old enough to buy alcohol. Man his fingers were flying on the strings ~ downtown Albany, Ny
The only thing that could possibly make this even better than the beauty and singing of these two angels would be having Bonnie come out and sing a verse too, , , wonderful.
+Derek Park Thanks for your post. I love all types of music but I can tell you Derek Truck is a beast on the guitar. Nothing wrong with crossing over and listening to new genres. Proves you have a great taste in music, regardless.
I've seen dozens of shows at Red Rocks, and I am sure this was absolutely heavenly. I love Susan Tedeschi. Congratulations Grace Potter what a nice treat for you and everyone at this show! You are a beautiful man Derek Trucks!
Only discovered this video because of my adoration for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. I feel a bit like an idiot for having never heard of Tedeschi Trucks band before this, but this is what UA-cam is all about. What an amazing performance!
This is exactly what I needed after a long hard day. Once again thank you TTB for your real music, always three for me no matter how much pain I'm in or how frustrated I am with my illness (EDS) or lack of abilities. Thank you thank you. -Sandi Schmidt, The Schmidt Family clever mo
The first time I saw Derek play was a concert in Del Mar, CA and it was actually an Alman Bro's show and by the end they had him on stage rocking out it was a great ending to a kick butt show
I am a huge fan of Bonnie Raitt who recorded Jackson Browne's Angel from Montgomery superbly, but this rendition by Susan Tedeschi, Grace Potter and the always outstanding guitar of Derek Trucks is truly sensational, adding as a bonus, Sugaree.
Craig, Angel from Montgomery is John Prine's song. Bonnie Raitt performed it with Jackson Browne on her live album 'Road Tested'. Regardless, everything you say is absolutely true. Search for this same song published by Tedeschi Trucks on January 30, 2013. It is even better, if that's possible.
@@benjamingamble2407 Benjamin: what is annoying is that I knew Angel from Montgomery was written by John Prine, as I have stated elsewhere with Bonnie Raitt's rendition, but thanks for correcting me here as my brain was clearly fogged. I think I have heard the version by Tedeschi Trucks on January 30, 2013, but will check it out. Thanks.
I love Susan's voice and soul, but I would love to hear Amazing Grace sing this entire medley. You can tell she is trying to hold back, but is on the verge of blowing everyone off that stage!!!!
Love Susan and Grace. Beautiful song and beautifully performed by them. But please listen to Rikki Lee Jones version with Bonnie Raitt as she knocks this one out of the park.
Not at all, I think this shows Graces maturity as a singer. She knows how to take the back seat without the need to be the one who gives the shock and awe factor in every song.
I would have to be SERIOUSLY convinced that these are not the 2 best female singers right now working....and you may have to remove the female qualifier. My goodness.
You're half right IMO. Susan makes my weep whenever she sings. She is absolutely the most amazing, beautiful, soulful singer alive today. And don't get me wrong, I really love Grace too, but her voice pales when she shares the stage with Susan. I still put Bonnie Raitt up there at #2, maybe even #1 depending on the which way the wind is blowing through Susan's hair. Bonnie Raitt has one of the most naturally beautiful voices I've ever heard, although for some reason I only weep like a 6-year old girl when Susan sings. What a happy debate we can have anyway you look at it with all these incredible women.
@@donmeyers3090 You need to listen to some Beth Hart... I have tried to listen to Grace Potter's Nocturnals stuff and just doesn't do it for me like Susan Tedeschi and Beth Hart do.. Beautiful woman and unbelievably beautiful voice but I can't put my finger on it - I just don't "feel" her music as much as others.
Samuel Steele - FINALLY someone else with an appreciation of a female voice that literally DRIPS with emotion. Beth Hart could sing about a flat earth and by the middle of the song, I’m convinced! Sometimes the lyrics have to reach further and bitch-slap me, but I’m always captivated. Is she some kind of sorceress singing her spells...or am I just hypnotized by her music, her voice? My mom is almost 70 but she introduced me to Beth Hart’s music in 2005-2006 by putting the song “Mama” on a CD with a few other soul clutching songs. My love of Susan Tedeschi, Sass Jordan, Joss Stone and (drumroll) The Mother Station were also courtesy of my crazy cool mom! 🤘🏼

So true!!! We were lucky!!!
I saw the Allman Brothers and Grayeful Dead any and every time I could....
Musical home run. Grace Potter+Susan Tadeschi+Derek Trucks+Band=amazing.
I say this without hyperbole. This is the most talented collection of musicians on Earth.
Derek and Susan have such a great thing going together. May it just get better and better and never end. So beautiful. And Grace, well, what can you say MMm mm MMm mMmm loved it. !
Real music, by real musicians.
+Brian Donner Good music is not dead if you know where to look!!!!!
God rest John and Kofi ...Beautiful music from them all ..
Do you know how much I love the music of both you gals (and Derek and the rest of the fantastic musicians)--to have you singing Angel... is just pure peace and joy. Thank you.
Susan Tedeschi is really one of the great vocalists of our time - this is pure pleasure!
If you ever heard her normal speaking voice, you'd never believe that she could sing like she does.
Derek Trucks just has a way of grabbing your heart & soul & wrapping it around his guitar...that sound that he creates is just mind boggling! He knows just how to tweak that guitar on every tune!
Had to listen to it twice in a row
An amazing concert with crazy great talent in a magical place....I feel so lucky to have been there !!! Oh yeah with some wonderful friends.....
Man, Kofi's flute just kills me everytime! What an incredible musician.
tedeschi trucks could *kill* marshall tucker band's "can't you see" with susan's soulful vocals......kofi.......derek........etc.
+Sebastian Vota For real! Kofi brings it.
Rest in paradise in that band of angels above the sky, Kofi
May he rest in piece
Kofi, gone but NEVER forgotten!
SO Glad I didn't leave early.. Got to move closer to the front during this treat. The evening was amazing... Lighting in the skies and on stage. GREAT show. So glad I shared the event with my brother and Grace Potter...
I've hear a lot of people sing this song but I haven't heard many singers feel this song... Tedeschi comes the closest to doing it justice. imo. :-)
I suggest you listen to the writer sing his own song. He makes this track sound like something from a "Voice" reject.
There aren't many people that write a song like John Prine.
Love that Prine fella.

The band has to be used to this. A lot of blues incorporates call and response, and this is a classic (awesome) example of that.
I too was at this show and I was moved to tears. What an incredible night of music.
Hot damn!!!! Ditto what Louis already said, and that flute player, very moving, how can a sad song can make you feel so goood! Awesome!
I was there...it was awesome. Great to see it again!
words fail. this is just genius.
Cheers!

I like Tedeschi and Potter in this duet - two different voices that join well together.
I saw her sing this several years back when she was here in Minnesota. I nearly cried listening to her sing.
WOW!!!! Gave me goosebumps!!!! Thank you!!!!!
The only thing that could possibly make this even better than the beauty and singing of these two angels would be having Bonnie come out and sing a verse too, , , wonderful.
This song always makes me tear up.
Susan Tedeski!!! You speak to and rock my soul every time!!! 👌❤️🙏
Disclaimer: I'm a hard-core metal head -- but this is GOOD stuff.! Love Grace Potter. Real music. Rock roots baby.

I am the idiot in reverse, I knew Tedeschi and am just discovering Grace.
This is so awesome. Can't help but think of Bonnie Raitt actually starting this off.
This has got to be one of the most incredible videos I've ever seen.
I think I might have cried if I was there. This is so beautiful!
Love this!! It brought me back❤️
That was epic. Those ladies have some serious pipes and talent. Great musicians too.
40 dislikes? I guess that means there are 40 soulless creatures wandering the Earth ...dead inside.
Holy Sh%t! Derek is playing the hell out of that 335. Killin' it on slide as well. Bravo!!
just stunning...this band blows me away
Something about a girl that can play a guitar & these two ladies got it. Shout out to my man on the horn. Love the way you blow.
This song makes me really happy. Open your mind to new ideas people. You may just like some of them so much you carry them through your life
I hear ya buddy...He does it to me all the time & this one is special.

What a tandem. Goosebump raising, classic music.
I was at this show and this was just one of many absurdly cool moments throughout the evening. I balled.
These women are fabulous, love it especially Susan and Derek
Two of my favorite bands!
This band just continues to frow and blossom...
Incredible music...so much talent through-out this whole band.
Can't wait seeing them on Tuesday.....
Wow! Doesn't get any better than this. Derek sounds incredible here.
Just a snipit of a really incredible show. TTB is the best band of our time, creating true
The first time I saw Derek play was a concert in Del Mar, CA and it was actually an Alman Bro's show and by the end they had him on stage rocking out it was a great ending to a kick butt show
Can't forget lead guitar, I get goosebumps when these 3 play together. Very talented & all three genius's in there own right. Luv u guys. 🔥👀⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👌👍🌴😎🌴
Tedheadone still has a huge smile on his face nearly a month later. Derek's solo starting at 5:17 just gives me goosebumps.
Awesome. Why does this bring a tear to my eye?
My two favorite female vocalists! And, some very sweet guitar licks by Derek...I loved it.
hard to watch this without getting emotional. 2 very powerful ladies
I was there - great concert.
Love the bejeezus out of this! Two of my favorite ladies on one stage. #fangirl
Wow !! Knew I liked both but together all I can say is wow !
Beautiful in so many ways!

Hah! Derek at 5:45 - "I'll just reach into my pocket for that slide..." Awesome performance by all!
gots 2 love tedeschi and trucks, 2 much soul for 2 people
best version yet.
I really hope we get to see a repeat of this performance live at the Sunshine Music and Blues fest in St. Pete in a couple weeks!! Can't wait!
Love these gals cover of this song, and Trucks' riffs on that Allman Bros sounding guitar.
Superb version of the John Prine classic. They all did him proud.
Great match with Grace and Susan...Bringing down th house..love it...
"Pure Inspiration!; on a chilly Delaware morning"

between them so incredible.
I love Susan's voice and soul, but I would love to hear Amazing Grace sing this entire medley. You can tell she is trying to hold back, but is on the verge of blowing everyone off that stage!!!!

All of my favorite musical talent on one stage. Love this. Cant wait to see TTB in a few weeks!
Derek rocks this solo.
yeah, he has a way of doing that!
Cheers!
Love it!
Thank you so much for posting ! The best!
Grace Potter is returning to Red Rocks in September 2015!
Wow, I think I just fell in love.
I was there. Awesome.
me too. It was amazing.
Damn, maybe the best version of this song ever....
This is one of my favorite versions of Angel From Montgomery... Derek Truck's guitar playing is just superbly matched with these two great singers!
so beautiful...
Absolutely fucking awesome!
