From the 1948 Walt Disney movie "Melody Time"
I have always believed that this sequence was made for the movie The Three Caballeros, but that it was not included in the movie
At the end of the video there is a link to see another interesting video of Ethel Smit

There were times, it seems, when the classic Disney animators did psychedelia LOOOOOOONNNNNNNG before it truly was a thing (see also segments of the original Fantasia film, among other clips), and this is certainly one example of that. BTW, Ethel Smith (all 3 of her? 5 of her?) was awesomely talented on the the Hammond B-3 organ, and I can NEVER get enough, visually or audibly.
Ah, yes, the good old Disney Acid Trip.

WE"RE MAKING IT TO BAHIA WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Let's not forget the pastel palette and coloring are all Mary Blair's work.
She was an artistic genius.
It all comes together here with Ethel's musicality.
Thank you friend @lohphat for the comment and for the information, because I didn't know this, greetings
I remember watching this in Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Colour hosted by Professor Von Drake, late 60's early 70's.
I loved it then, & now it brings back so many memories.
Thank you for posting in such good quality. 👍🥰
The special effects are so good for 1948
Same as the animation. This could pass as a 90s cartoon.
I used to think most classic cartoons were made when I grew up in 90’s and 2000’s
@@Gabara-o9p To be fair, standard was reverting back to this quality.
I won't say 70s and 80s had BAD animation since I love the original Transformers G1 style, but there was certainly a lack of quality after the Golden Age of Animation ended. Especially in special effects animation.
@queenofawesome2550 could you please elaborate on that?
How on Earth did you get it in such great quality? This is amazing! :D
I have the DVD of the movie "Time of melody" and took it out of there. I am very glad that you liked Someone greetings
@@angeldearte thanks dude :D
@@angeldearte same!
@@angeldearte I remember looking for a video of this on YT last year and there weren't any in good quality at the time. Obrigada for the upload!
Don't you mean Melody Time?
I have NEVER seen this before! I was just listening/watching a song from 3 caballeros and this popped up next! It very much seems like it was something they made for that movie, then used it as a stand alone for some reason.
I recently learned that there was meant to be a sequel to Three Caballeros called Cuban Carnival, but it was canceled after Caballeros lost money and WW2 was over.
This form of art needs to come back. That was a time when Disney made things for entertainment and not money.
I really don't want to burst your bubble but melody time and all the other package movies were made to keep Disney afloat into he 40s during and after ww2 so they were literally made for money some of them are pretty good tho like Ichabod and mr toad, saludos amigos and three caballeros
don't let nostalgia make you naïeve
Ethel Smith was brilliant!
Jose y donald bailan muy bien
Hola mi yo de 10 años!
Jajaja escribia incorrectamente "Jose"😅
One of my favorite childhood memories is watching my melody time vhs that had this and a cowboy needs a hat, such a good memorie
a masterpiece
this brings back memories.
Lindo demais amo meu Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Very pretty and animaroon with catchy sounds and music
❤❤❤
I remember this stuff coming on cartoon network late at night as a kid and I always hated. Shame I didn't realize the art it was back then.

I always loved this!
That’s not Aurora Miranda, that’s Ethel Smith playing the organ
Donald Duck together with José Carioca and Panchito is much better than with Mickey and Goofy
yes and they should all kiss
The Aracuan doing something good for once, aside from occasionally ruining lives XD.
Yes, you are right friend HD 04 regards🌲🥂

The woodpecker reminds me of woody woodpecker!🤪
He's not a woodpecker. He's a Aracuan Bird, and his name is "Aracuan"
Pagode é samba, bossa nova é samba, quase tudo nosso nasce do samba.
I would so love to know what she's singing from 4:31 onwards so badly. cuz it's clear to me that it's different but it's just too fast for me to actually tell what is being sung
I think it's a variation of the first song
Mama let's play samba 💃🕺👯
The version I watched on Disney plus had a lower pitch- even if that’s the original, - I much prefer the higher pitch here
I have taken it out of my DVD movie and I have adjusted the image and sound, greetings and thanks for your comment
They might have taken the audio straight off of an old tape without adjusting for the age of it. That sounds like a ridiculous thing for the company that made the film to do, but I suppose it's possible, and it would explain it. Cassette tape stretches with age and use, which can very gradually lower the pitch and slow down the tempo.
@@InchonDM It is taken from the DVD and the sound is the original, the movie is from the year 1948
🍸
Note: don't turn on automatic closed captioning on this video...

The Tom y Jerry de Comedy Show
Donald and Jose in the original movie with or without Panchito has quite a term for south American culture in otherwords Brazil culture
The Tom y Jerry de Comedy Show
I like the music. A nice happy tune. Was origionally a classical piece by Ernesto Nazareth called Apanhei-te Cavaquinho. Like it best played as a samba though.
God, this fills me with so much nostalgia. Ever since I saw this dvd when I was a kid, I’ve always been a fan of The Three Caballeros
If three bostrious birds of a feather fall under the influence of the tarid tropical tempo, don't blame them....blame it on the rhythm of the samba
This was one of the best shorts in Melody Time.
I have watched this short on UA-cam. And I have seen the Johnny Appleseed segment on a DVD Shorts Collection I bought in 2009. I also heard there was going to be a third film after Three Caballeros titled Cuban Carnival where this segment would have been. But the film was canceled after WW2 was over and Caballeros lost money. I personally feel it's too bad the film wasn't made because though I haven't see all of Melody Time, I feel this segment sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the others having read about the other shorts. It's also confusing on when this segment takes place. Between Saludos Amigos and Three Caballeros?? Or after the latter?
It upsets me that I cannot find an audio recording of this song. It's so catchy, but I can't find it anywhere but this cartoon short. I just want to bop to it all day, but I can't!
This is a Brazilian song called "Apanhei-te Cavaquinho" that was originaly composed by Ernesto Nazareth. Just search it's name on the Internet.
I meant the song sung by the Dinning Sisters, but thanks for the info.@@donmaikurosawa1500
As indicated here, the tune is by the 19th century Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth. He wrote it for piano, but in my opinion, it works better with plectral instruments such as guitar or mandolin. There are many interpretations of the tune on UA-cam, but I do not know if this particular version (with the added intro and the English lyrics) was ever released as a separate recording.
I know it's for kids AND adults, but the amount of smoking & drinking is wild.
thank you so much pal
this is one my very fav piece of animation ever (and it's a passion of mine)
How crazy it must have been to make the storyboard.
I love the way it explodes and recognizable parts are seen and then it all comes together. Several scenes that imbue tripping and all the colors, ha! I work on Hammonds.
I wish the Rooster was here too
This segment was planned to be in the Three Caballeros during the Baia segment then it got cut. I think that's the main reason why Panchito isn't here, but I am surprised they didn't add him back in.
Donald Duck and José Carioca
