Diana is 18 here, this performance was in 2021. She had a hard start in life-she was found abandoned on the cold street at the age of three with a broken collarbone. She was taken to an orphanage. She didn’t talk at all, and the physiotherapist at the orphanage was very concerned. So, she took her to a specialist who said ‘put her in singing class-sometimes that helps’-and this is what we got. The physiotherapist ended up adopting Diana 💜

Diana was born in May 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she abused the child and tried to drown it. One day this 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage.
There she finally found love ... by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist who treated the children from the children's home. Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared, but she could all sing songs from cartoons. A doctor recommended singing lessons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started …
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D6). Diana's voice also sometimes has a polyphonic undertone. You hear: Her voice sounds an octave below the singing voice. (But not everyone can hear that.) Diana also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions.

She has polyphonic overtones in her voice. When she gets really resonant there are overtones at 1.5 and 2 octaves above the fundamental. So she can basically do an in-voice harmony with herself. Also skilled at using microtones (eastern scales and runs).

I've been listening to music almost 70 years and Diana is the most amazing vocalist I've ever heard. I listen to Diana every day and I'm as amazed by her today as was the first time I heard her.

This is a new TV show in Russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won this overall competition. Diana won 4 and took 2nd place once. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The judge who stands up (there is another judge in every show) is the great opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and the husband of Anna Netrebko, who is world famous. And he's very impressed.

Oh! What a deep hole you have fallen into. Your correct in saying you hear 2 pitches or notes, others stated about Diana being polyphonic. Voice type Is contralto which has full,rich,dramactic low register and is typical to have a large range of the chest voice. Here's the kicker........ as you heard, Diana has been developing her high range into the 5th octave. IMHO, she has a larger range than normal contraltos, Into the soprano range. Only 18yrs old and her voice will continue to develop and mature into her mid to late 20's. A phenomenal talent and just as good artist in the truest form! Bravo Diana! Who knows what her voice will be in 5-10-15 years from now.
Diana is a contralto which is the deepest tone in the female voice. Yet she has pretty much an entire range upward too, and amazing control up and down her range. And she's super young.

At the age of about 13 she auditioned on a show for children and sang/yodeled. It is called 'Jodel Time'...really extraordinary...the audience absolutely loved her but the judges didn't turn their chairs around, even though they were obviously fascinated by her voice. They asked her to sing something else and she sang a French song acapella...but she was not chosen. What did she do? As the audience cheered her, she went up and gave the judges a hug! Completely captivating performer, even at the age of 13!
And also you could do 'Wicked Game' and 'Rechenka' both at the age of about 15 in singing contests... utterly spectacular voice! Also she sings a beautiful and uplifting 'Into the Sky!' Enjoyed your comments on her....the background is as extraordinary as the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment.
Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up on UA-cam. Great reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course off the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles.

Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest, as they say, is history.

Yes. One of the most unique & beautiful voices in the world, and 17 / 18 years old here? That doubled sound you heard is all her & is described by music professionals as Polyphonic.( Some vocal specialist can describe better than me how that happens - something to do with placement of a naturally large larynx !? } Diana has also one of the rarest female voices - she is a Contralto. I think you will enjoy her version of Wicked Game & her Rechenka is already a classic. There is so much talent out there internationally. She has immense resonance. It's like violin strings attached to a body that can grow as large as a double bass. She can sing the note she wants, then widen her pharynx to produce a sound that messes with one's head.
It's high, but feels low ; when it's actually "wider" than we are used to.
She can, indeed, make some notes seem lower than they really are. Many singers can go low, but not without losing the resonance and fullness of sound. Diana's lows don't fade out - the resonance, the roundness of sound are there. Gorgeous.
