Vile is my favorite Cannibal Corpse album. I was more into Chris Barnes back in the 90's but Vile grew on me more over time and has been my favorite for over 20 years now. Today i'll admit i'm not too crazy into their albums after The Wretched Spawn. Evisceration Plague has some memorable moments. They aren't doing anything wrong its just that they have so many albums now and my nostalgia with them is up to Wretched Spawn. I'm like that with bands with a large discography. I usually like the early stuff more like Amon Amarth for example. Its cool though that bands can carry on that long. Unfortunately alot of my bands only lasted 1 to 2 years.

Gallery of Suicide....last thing they did worth a damn. Everything from Bloodthirst on was like Gallery B- sides and it got really stale to me. ...I think a lot of that was pat Obrien s over the top technicality that can only stay fresh for so long

It’s funny, I had the opposite reaction between Vile and Gallery. I thought Vile was a weak introduction to Corpsegrinder, it felt very “safe” musically and vocally. But Gallery is where he came into his own and used his voice far more diversely. Plus I liked the shift in sound, with the more moody and brooding tone.

It's always fun for me to hear a CC fans thoughts album to album. They've been around so long and so many people come in at different points, that pretty much any ranking would make sense to me. Pick ANY album and it's someone's top 3 and someone else's bottom 3. It's wild. But I love that.

I believe Jack left because Pat and Alex were writing much more technical music and he couldn’t keep up. He even said during the Wretched Spawn recording DVD that Pat’s riffs were impossible to play. He’s a good player and good songwriter but he’s not a technical player.

Neil Kernon was hailed by death metal bands after working on 'Gore obsessed' and 'The wretched spawn'... Kernon worked w/ Exhumed ('Anatomy is destiny') and a number of Nile albums from 'Annihilation of the wicked' in 2005 onwards... and did Deicide's 'Scars of the crucifix'... This was after he had done albums by Queensryche... Dokken... and Nevermore in the 80's and 90's.
Erik Rutan was also suddenly in demand as a producer after Cannibal's 'Kill' album in 2006... Besides his past work w/ Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal... he would work w/ Goatwhore on several albums... he did Vital Remains ("Icons of evil")... Through the Eyes of the Dead ("Malice") ... and N.O. sludge band Soilent Green... His albums w/ Hate Eternal since the 1999 should also be checked out.

My CC journey started by seeing Ace Ventura in the theater as a kid, and being totally intrigued by death metal. But it wasn't until 2002-'03 that I started finding and discovering CC music (well after Barnes era) and catching up on their discography.
I found I preferred the Corpsegrinder era, but I didn't really have a favorite album through and through. Mainly I made mix CDs of my favorite tracks from each album to jam for road trips. And that would continue until A Skeletal Domain.
When that came out, I was definitely hooked to each track for their own reasons. Opening to close, I was loving each track. It's still the only album I keep saved on my phone in it's entirety (for rockin' on the go or at work).

sadly i dont think this video would be as popular as it should be but i would love to see a video like this on psycroptic, sadly they dont have the popularity of a band like cannibal corpse but them alongside crytopsy were huge for the technical death metal scene back then
on cannibal corpse i have never really explored them yet but because of this video i have a few albums in mind, funnily enough my introduction to them was someone doing a lounge version of rancid amputation which the band themselves seem to enjoy

"What is your FAVORITE Corpsegrinder album? "
I love Gallary, it more grindcore flirting and progressiv moving in it guittar approach. It one of the CC albums i fond crated a good flow and veration in it track listing.
Kill was the album that got me to lock at corpsgrinder and go, who this aggresiv delivery is friking killer. (pun intended) I just jam so hard to kill when ever i need a pump up work out or clening motivation.

Her last name is spelled Jenal. She also had it out for Moonspell, Impaled Nazarene and others. Alex Wank of Pungent Stench met her and describes her personality as "obsessed with her self image". She was also vocal vs. Scientology and among other things tried to stop the building of an extension to a museum of modern art.
All this added up puts her straight into the querulant phenotype.

Hell yeah, great video. Personally I was born the year George took over, so CC for me is George. And as a guitar player myself, I actually care more about the riffs than anything else really. So for me I’d struggle to really narrow down a favorite, as I like everything with Pat but also the Rutan era has been great so far. I grew up and live not far from where Pat is from, so maybe that swings me more towards his era lol. The great thing is that CC keeps going and the riffs haven’t stopped, so I’m a happy camper.

As an Iron Maiden fan, I can honestly say that rating their albums from 1980 to 1992 is difficult because each record is special to me... Their later albums, while still great, are not as meaningful to me as overall albums... and perhaps that's because I grew up on their 1st decade's catalog... I still listen to songs from the 2 Blaze Bayley albums by Iron Maiden... but they are at the bottom of the pile.
I still pick 'Somewhere in time' (1986) and 'Seventh son of a seventh son' (1988) as MY top Iron Maiden albums.
And if u ask Iron Maiden fans, there are those who only love the Paul Di'Anno albums ('Iron Maiden' and 'Killers')... while some only love the Bruce Dickinson/ Adrian Smith Maiden albums from 1982 to 1988.
With Cannibal Corpse, it's even more difficult... mainly because each album is just killer from start to finish... w/ some albums having 'filler' tracks... Many Cannibal fans cite "The Bleeding" as their favorite and it is their biggest-selling record because of 'Ace Ventura' ... because MTV played 'Staring through the eyes of the dead' ... and Beavis & Butt-head made fun of it 😂But for me, it's at the bottom of the pile of Cannibal Corpse albums... I prefer the songs performed by George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher on the 2000 live album 'Live cannibalism'.
That being said, it was the Barnes-era album 'Butchered at birth' that made me a fan... I heard 'Vile' and didn't get it at first (I get it now! 🤘)
The Corpsegrinder era of Cannibal Corpse... My fave picks would be - 'The wretched spawn' (I saw them twice on that tour in 2004, one show w/ Jeremy Turner on guitar instead of Jack Owen, who had quit the band) ... 'Kill' (Twice on that tour)... and 'Bloodthirst' (The 'Live Cannibalism' album was recorded and filmed on that tour - I have both the CD and DVD)
'Gore obsessed' is also special because it was the album that picked up sales after Cannibal had gradually declined in the late 90's... ('Bloodthirst' was not a big seller at the time; it got more popular later) and I recall pumping that album quite a bit.
'Evisceration plague' is one of their biggest albums and Cannibal was on tour for two years on that album because it did so well... 'Torture' is also a big record for me.
'Vile' to me is brutal but it seemed like a transition album because Barnes had been fired and the album had to be re-done lyrically and adjusted sound-wise to give Corpsegrinder a better meshing w/ the music that had been written w/ Barnes in mind.
'The Skeletal domain' is interesting because it had a different producer Mark Lewis and he gave the album a darker sound w/ heavy bass... a departure for cannibal but worth the listen.
Because of my current circumstances, I haven't been able to fully experience the last 3 Cannibal Corpse albums on my soundsystem (which I prefer) ... so I'm still on the fence on them...

I also saw them on this US tour you speak of, I got to surf the crowd and i also got caught in the mosh, what a show. Was over way too soon...I wish i could see them perform a full set....maybe one day....CHEERS
Yo Makaiya this is not what I was expecting at ALL...I thought this would be a compilation of reactions... you went ABOVE and beyond, and I have the highest respect for you as a metal head.
Pat is my hero man, I cant believe what happened to him, but I believe some of the BEST Corpse songs come out of his mind and it's a shame what happened, but after he leaves, the new songs they come up with include one of the darkest music videos I've ever seen - it's literally a horror movie ! The situation in Germany where someone got Cannibal Corpse's first 3 albums was ridiculous... They couldn't play "I cum blood" or "Meat hook sodomy"... But it was OK to play "Stripped, raped and strangled" or 'Dead human collection'... 🙄
The situation is Russia is worse... Cannibal Corpse has played Russia without incident since the 90's when Chris Barnes was the singer... The current right wing, totalitarian government under Putin and from activism from the Russian Orthodox Church decided to ban all Cannibal Corpse albums since 2014... That was also the same year Cannibal Corpse's Russian tour was largely canceled while the band was in the country and even their Moscow show was canceled. Their show in Nizhny, Novgorod was shut down by Russian police under the pretense of a "drug raid" (Yeah, right!)
Their catalog was banned in Russia afterwards and Cannibal Corpse has not visited Russia since under the threat of being jailed. After the Ukraine War began, all American acts have been advised to bypass touring or visiting Russia.
