The COVID-19 crisis has made it clear that we are reaching the end of an era. Climate change can no longer be ignored nor the economic disparities further exasperated by those left behind as the world is being forced to digitally accelerate and change the way of working and living. Already for years serious doubts have been expressed over whether the current societal and economic models would safeguard growth and prosperity for future generations.
Digitalisation is the future. With both the enabling infrastructure as well as the expertise, Telcos are in a prime position to digitally transform other vertical industries and thus play a key role in helping to reboot their economies and societies. Yet with increased digitalisation and the deployment of 5G, network energy consumption is projected to dramatically increase. Thus this reboot must consider how this can be achieved in a sustainable way. Telcos can be the drivers as they grasp these opportunities to go higher in the value chain beyond mere connectivity.
Our first keynote speaker is Transformation Specialist Jo Caudron, who will give his view on how we can get out of the metastorm we are in - the confluence of societal and economic struggles from inequality to climate change to racism to misinformation and cybercrime that have been brewing long before the current pandemic. Elaborating on his "SUPERchange model," he will discuss how companies can use progress-oriented thinking to build a roadmap that makes Telcos instrumental in the reboot of society and economy.
The second keynote speaker will be Jikke Op De Weegh, Head of Sustainability at KPN, who will demonstrate why KPN is an industry leader in sustainability through various use-cases including a zoom-in on their Smart Energy System as well as the KPN Energy Innovation Lab.
